Running a marathon

Curious about whether any of you folks have attempted this.

I have one coming up in late August.

It's a huge chunk of fun and training is a healthy, fulfilling method of burning time. It's one of my favorite hobbies.

Anyone?

Breath in through the nose, keep your hands loose, don't let a little pain stop you (not even stabbing knife pain).

I've ran a marathon once. I did decent.
Actually I came dead fucking last.

don't run a marathon now, though

    it is so fucking hot

i took a nap, and when i woke up, my legs were covered in sweat

like, in Pan's Labyrinth when the mom's vagina blood is all pouring down?

it was like that but with sweat

i thought I pissed myself at first

    so gross

I run on a daily basis.
Two years ago I could run 5 miles if I put my mind to it, but ran on average 2 and a half a day.
Then I went to college and started smoking.
Now I quit smoking and have gotten back up to 1 and a half miles a day.
    So we will see.

Also: Where I run is all hills, it's hard at first, but it is nice to be able to run up a hill without getting winded.

I was worried this thread was going to be like, "Hey guys, I don't really go running or anything but I signed up to do a marathon in a month or so, what are some tips for training?"

I had a friend that did that. She asked to go running with my brother one afternoon to start getting ready, she couldn't even run half a mile without having to stop.

    Those who have tried... question.

How much were you running weekly at the time you did your marathon?

I've been running a lot for a good period now and I'm up to ~75 miles weekly, normally with at least 3 runs at or above 15 miles.

I've done a total of about 6-7 20 mile runs in the past 2 or 3 months.

So I'm probably 'set' for my marathon now.

But I'm curious how tough it was for you guys in proportion to how much running you were doing regularly.

I was thinking about something the other day

    TFS is a super genius

    seriously, women can do anything?

    want some extra fries?
    flash some titties

    an A instead of a B?
    flash some titties

not enough money for a tollbooth?
    titties ahoy

someone looks like they're having a bad day?
    hello, have some titties

    man

    awesome

Oddly enough, there's an H/A thread that popped up (earlier today?) about trying to get in shape in roughly three months.

One of the suggestions made there was this Couch to 5K plan.

Maybe that's a good starting point?

One of my coworkers has been training to run a marathon for the last eight or more months. It's a hell of a lot of effort to get your body in such a condition to last that long...

    I dunno man.

Being fat means we need that much more lung power to propel ourselves forward.

If you're scrawny and shit you can smoke all you want, the wind does most of the work anyway.
