@Shivahn The German language has a slang term for the '@' symbol: klammeraffe, or 'spider monkey.' it's because the curl in the glyph is reminiscent of a monkey's long tail.
Anyway, you don't need a spider monkey when addressing Geth.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

Oh, duh.
You do need the @ for kicking people from threads, which is the only thing I've really done with it besides recycling chat, so that's why that was stuck in my head.

I'm proud that after a year and a half living in our caves the internet can still come together to put a company on Blast for bullshit pandering media ads.
We did it for years after 9/11 until finally most people stopped using it as a sales tactic and dammit I hope it works here too.

It's like part of me wants to click that spoiler Amy but it's the same part of my brain that touches the plate in the Mexican restaurant after the server says "hot plate, don't touch"

I've been thinking a lot about genocide lately, and how
1) the holocaust (and also other six million people killed in the multifaceted genocide the Nazis were doing) really sets the bar for them
2) implicitly, at least personally, that has always felt like it diminished other genocides because they're rarely as... complete and horrific
3) they just found 215 indigenous children in a mass grave in British Columbia
The genocide of the American Indians is really downplayed, even by those who know it was a genocide, I feel. Because what always comes up are smallpox blankets and random massacres, or forced migrations. At least in the US. The complete cultural eradication attempted by schools, and thousands of children in unmarked mass graves, isn't spoken about. I knew about it vaguely, but like... how many people are aware of it? That the US and Canada, within the last hundred years, were stealing children and holding them in glorified religious concentration camps and dumping the bodies in mass graves (dug by the older children, I believe). That's so fucked up! But it's not a good look, so people don't talk about it. I hope this discovery will make things better, and inform attitudes moving forward, but I also thought there might be changes after the nationwide riots following George Floyd's murder last year, and now we're back where we started, mostly, so I have little hope.
I think it's just important to think about the fact that most of us on this board are living in countries that had concentration camps for children where the bodies were just pushed into pits, more recently than some of our grandfathers' births.

Looks like they did the first one in 2019, but I guess since it was right before the Pandemic it wasn't big news, an they're not advertising one now.
