I grew up homosexual in a Nintendo household, so of course I would love to play as Zelda, and it's disappointing to get the possibility teased and then withdrawn
but Breath of the Wild was a very good game? And the trailer for 2 looks fun and good?
BotW is absolutely riddled with glaring game design flaws. It has high production values, but the game itself is a solid B at best.
If your opening bid were "a fine game, but overrated" I'd be like, ok, I'm open to that. After all, everything is at least partly subjective, and the game was tremendously hyped up...
But riddled with glaring design flaws and a B at best is pretty unreal
87 is a B
If you want to be fussy and technical, an 87 is a B+ on standard scales. But it's also clear that academic grades and average user scores on a 10 point scale do not map neatly onto each other.
If you go to metacritic and sort new releases by user score, the highest that even appears is an 89 on the PS5 version of It Takes Two (which is a very cute and good co op puzzle platformer).
I play regular drums so maybe I could play steel drums?
I knew someone who played steel drums and if I remember right they are a weird and difficult instrument and not super similar to non-steel drums, but I think the skills still transferred a bit?

Like, I don’t want to rehash the whole thing, I’ve said my piece many times over. BotW is a gorgeously designed and well-crafted game that does things we wouldn’t forgive in lesser games from 10 years ago. I’m tired of giving it a pass for whatever reason.

I mean, I think the only reason the vocals are unintelligible is due to the mixing. I think just some sidechain compression and a bit of EQ would make it a bit more understandable.

You're allowed to like games that have flaws. You're allowed to look past those flaws. You're allowed to not notice those flaws. People still play Sonic games.

They're like if a xylophone was a bowl.
One thing I remember is that my friend who played guitar was instantly Expert on Rock Band guitar, and then the steel drum friend was annoyed because they were only okay at Rock Band drums. Then the guitar friend was also expert on drums and bass and vocals so turns out they were just a Rock Band prodigy.

... but, like, you brought it up? It would be easy to avoid a rehash by not posting about how garbage it is.
maybe it is post-surgery grumpyness, which is very understandable, and obviously ilu, but I was a bit bummed out by the intense negativity in chat

I’m bummed out by Nintendo pushing Zelda in that hole, dude!
Terminator gets sent back in time, something goes wrong, gets sent back further than intended, the arrival starts a fire that kills someone, oops Terminator messed up the timeline.
Terminator assumes identity of dead guy, is great boss, hires lots of people, builds a certain building the original guy would have built.
Then hides inside wall in building for however many decades in order to pop out of it to kill its actual target.

I dunno if crowd sourced reviews are going to be compelling evidence for anything.
100% the reason I don't use RT
The culture we adopted around 2010-2012 where like every movie was already decided on before it came out, pass.
There's two other... internet entities that I feel really emboldened nitpick culture as a way to review and I'm kind of glad to see the pendulum swing the other way.

I'm mad I never watched it.
When I was a kiddo then I was EXTREMELY SERIOUS and I felt like TV shows did a really bad job of living up to movies, so I never watched it as I assumed it would be trash.

I'm also bummed out by Nintendo pushing Zelda in a hole--I am obvi extremely here to play as zelda, which is the note I opened on
but that disappointment doesn't travel back in time and make Breath of the Wild a "garbage" game?

Parts of it were really good. Others... not so much. The producer or whoever it was went all "I don't care what people think, I'm following my vision" and then it got cancelled.

SE++ has a couple I think - like a general fitness thread, a weight lifting thread, and a food thread.
