I am finding that Steam Sales aren't something I get all that excited about anymore. I already have enough games that I want to play that I don't feel any urgency to pick up new games. Also, I would love to play a number of Paradox games, but their DLC model has me waiting for the everything included package that will come out in a few years.
I can't even gift stuff from Steam Sales because that is now forbidden for reasons, even though games are more expensive in my region even accounting for exchange rates.
Also, did it crash and burn? It has a pretty healthy number of reviews, suggesting a decent revenue if nothing amazing.
I think they've gone on record as saying they had to halt support for the game after their first bit of free DLC for it because it had sold way less than they'd hoped, but I'd love to be wrong! I know a couple youtubers I like did videos on it earlier in the year, maybe it got a bump
It’ll be joining Game Pass in a few days, so that should give them a chunk of money.
I don’t get excited by steam sales anymore, but they are also the only time I buy games.
My game library to free time ratio is so skewed towards game library that I can just grab games whenever they are cheap, no rush.

A good portion of my wishlist isn't even on their best ever price; they're discounted less than they have been previously. Most of the rest are just at a regular sale price. Only a couple are discounted further than they've been before.
Is that an ad for a mobile game? I've seen a few like that but ripping off Red Dead Redemption. Saw a screenshot recently of one called West Game which uses all the RDR2 HUD elements, others which rip off promo art like this. Not surprised if it happens for other big games.

there was an interesting video someone posted about this phenomenon as far as it pertains to mobile games. Basically I think the answer is that no one cares enough about mobile games to bring the lawsuit.
Oops, I spotted Budget Issues in Scarlet Nexus, hope it was just a spot and not the beginning of a downhill trend.
It wasn't anything too bad, just a section that was clearly going to be a dungeon and have new mobs to kill, but instead you go down a single hallway and fight them in a comic-style cutscene. And then you walk backwards throug hthe dungeon you just did prior, and the dialogue talks like you've been fighting off this new threat the whole time instead of just refighting the same enemies.
I got annoyed at some of the later puzzles because I found it unclear how they worked.
Overall I'd say it's got very nice looking digital Lego bricks, but I feel like I've seen everything the game has to offer after finishing it once, which took just over two hours.
Chris Avellone finally responded to the allegations of sexual misconduct against him last year, claiming its all false and cooked up by the women who accused him despite being rhe ones who set him up in the relationship that started the whole thing, and the media who never tried to find out the truth, and cancel culture yadda yadda etc.
He has his own version of the b e story and teitter screenshots, if you care the link is here:
In 2012, I met a woman named Karissa at a convention in Atlanta called “Dragon Con.” We met at a bar after the convention. This gathering wasn’t a sanctioned convention event. She looked my age. She had no idea who I was, acted that way, and has admitted as much. She didn’t know who I was, but she did know I was buying rounds for everyone. Like many in this story, she wasn’t a colleague, she wasn’t my employee, I wasn’t her boss, and she wasn’t in the game industry.
At the end of the evening, two other writers and I escorted Karissa back to her room. When we got to the door, I made a move to kiss her, she reciprocated, and we made out enthusiastically in the hallway outside her room. We never went into her room. She had a roommate, of which I was unaware, who apparently, in the roommate’s own words, slept through it. After several minutes, Karissa told me it wasn’t a good idea (to keep making out in a hotel hallway, which made sense to me), so I stopped and we parted ways.
After reading all that I end up at - ok some of that is weird but it obviously doesn't make it false. If it's false I hope that comes out, cause that sucks. If it's true then I hope he's powerbombed out of the industry.
Edit- I've also seen a good few dudes with the whole oh yeah well I've got receipts! And then there is no receipts and they just hide for a bit then slither back (hello Myke Cole!)
Shrug? I dunno, this post was useless.
In other news, finally pulled the trigger on Disco Elysium! That and Shadow Tactics were my only purchases.

Yea I picked up Disco Elysium as well, really excited to dig into it! Also Wilmot's Warehouse. I loved the look of it back when they played it at Giantbomb.
- tried to donate, and the counter kept going past my total. When I hit accept, it gave me money.

Is it just me or does the perspective on the arms on those people in the Walking Dead image look really weird. Like their straight arms must be much shorter than their bent arms. Especially the dude.
I tend to go by a "one game at a time" rule, so when I was in Gamestop to buy the new Mario Golf yesterday and realized that Person 5 Strikers has a Switch version (because what doesn't), I was tempted but chose not to buy it. Then I saw that it was on sale on Steam for the Summer Sale, and since golf can only hold my attention so long, I've been splitting my time between the two of them.
Persona 5 Strikers may be a musou game, but they got the most important thing right: after doing the tutorial mission, it's been over an hour and I still haven't fought anything else.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

Update: it’s not fake, it is very real and I am absolutely baffled
After what they did on Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry, I don't have much sympathy for someone stealing Capcoms art.

I think I'm going to have to replace my gamepad, fiddling with the dead zone yesterday helped for about 5 minutes before it went bad again. I'm thinking of just getting a wired 360 controller because they're cheap. Unless there is some amazing extra functionality that comes with an Xbox one controller which is worth spending more for?

Official 360 controllers? These days it's getting hard to find XBone controllers, let alone 360 ones.

I think the shape of the current Xbox controllers is slightly nicer. And the dpad is significantly better.
Other than that, they've got Bluetooth and can work both wired and wireless.

I value the input, and have ignored it and ordered a 360 controller. I fear change and after 12 years with this gamepad the thought of having one with a slightly different handfeel is frankly nightmare material.
Man my main issue with the 360 controller is the joysticks are so short and imprecise compare to the One controller. There’s so little room for a range of large and more precise joystick movement by comparison
I started playing Prey (2017) recently, I am going to Psychotronics lab right now, when it comes to the story progression.
I think I may be in love? I love Deus Ex-like games, I love Arkane Studios, I love sci-fi atmosphere, I love collecting every piece of junk on the station to turn it into little cubes that I can turn into other resources. I am having a lot of fun right now.

Too Much Future has lured me into playing Fallout New Vegas for probably the first time since Fallout 4 came out. I've just finished the last DLC and am about to start knocking out sidequests in the Mojave proper for a while before going into the endgame.
I still think it does a lot of things right in terms of story structure and worldbuilding and pure dirtbag charisma, and it's a straight upgrade in every way over Fallout 3, but damn. I've been taking a lot of vital quality-of-life improvements in Fallout 4 for granted. It's a bummer that the companion quests are linked to hidden triggers, most of which only work the first time you talk to an NPC or complete a side quest. And there's not much margin for error!
I also forgot how frustrating Oblivion-era level scaling was. I know it's a tricky thing to balance in open-world games, but fighting Powder Gangers as a level three weakling was only marginally harder than fighting those same Powder Gangers as a superpowered cyborg with a bunch of unique high-caliber firearms.
Dead Money and Old World Blues are still the best Fallout stories ever told, though. Even if the minute-to-minute gameplay is a bit hostile.

Just a heads up if you haven't figured it out yet, the foam dart launcher is way more useful than it initially lets on.

Haven't really seen it before except for like watching someone play it for 5 minutes, but its easy enough to pick up.
On my first play

funnily enough, persona 5
Just a heads up EA is yanking the following from the GOG store on Monday, so they're deadass cheap right now.
Ultima Underworld 1+2
Syndicate Plus
Syndicate Wars
If you already own them, they will stay in the library. But you otherwise have about a day to grab them if you don't.
