re: the Blizzard MAU thing, I also like peeing on their heads but that's almost entirely attributable to WoW and Hearthstone being their only games to release new content in the last 12+ months. Their other games are all basically dead; WoW is specifically called out as having higher than expected "engagement," however they quantify that.
I don't think any aspect of it is from the lawsuit. We'd maybe see that next quarter, if it even has a measurable impact.

I don't think the argument is, "The lawsuits are already having an impact," it's more, "Management is incompetent on EVERY axis, and by every metric, and has been for a while"
Blizzard's been on people's side-eye list since they fucked up the War3 remaster and announced a Diablo mobile game instead of Diablo 4, plus general WoW expansion grumpiness.
I feel like fandom was just waiting for the shoe to drop to declare that Blizzard is fucked. Though everyone though it'd be due to Activision and not come internally from Blizzard themselves.
i don't really want to get too into the weeds on "who thought company was bad when" but blizzard is one of those companies that people cry "dooomed!" at on a nintendo-level scale so i don't think it's particularly worthwhile to try and plot out the grievances

Yes true but also when did you think blizzard was doomed?
Blizzard was bad when they tried to force OW into a competitive esport instead of a fun game, also the loot boxes. But the war3 remaster was when it became real obvious things were falling apart.
Some would say the starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 stories being complete garbage were good indicators.
i mean just for starters i'd point out that everyone's already forgotten the time that they punished a hong kong hearthstone player for voicing support for hong kong independence

That was actually supposed to be part of my list, but you're right, I forgot it.
Also, I'm not saying Blizzard was perfect angels until recently; just that people were generally willing to cut them a LOT of slack when it came to stuff like the D3 auction house (which they eventually DID fix), or the Overwatch loot boxes. Shit, they got sued for stealing people's personal data back in the 90's if you want to go WAY back.
But they recently had a string of bad decisions, one after another, right after a ton of big names left the company and people were really wondering if this was the end of Blizzard as a beloved company and the transition to them just being another soulless wing of activision.
Joke was on us, I guess; they always sucked.

Have Brack talk some pithy bullshit that the media labeled an "apology" and then release a trailer for Diablo 4. Blitzchung never had a chance.
in general people assume announcements and release dates and things like that are a lot more agile than they actually are (see: how often people accused blizzard throughout the years of releasing an expansion for WoW around the same time as another MMO is releasing, rather than them both just trying to get optimal release dates for games)
trailers for announcements are the sort of thing you have to start like, a year ahead

it was kinda surprising that blizzard didn't release a bunch of trailers around the time the lawsuit information was coming out
They don't have any games coming out any time soon, so they likely don't have a lot of polished footage lying around.
the diablo 2 remaster is coming in September
They already put out their trailer for that though.

im just a little surprised that they didn't have anything they could cobble together and put out, especially what with the having notice that the lawsuit was coming

They've been under investigation for this for years, they should have trailers ready!

Oh no!
We can have our japes and our goofs, but I think we all know it's gonna be James Corden or Josh Gad no matter how much we wish that weren't true

For me it was when Jeffrey Overwatch left
