I finally killed the fuckin heart
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I managed to finally do something I'd never done before: beat the heart with Brimstone. I wasn't really looking to even go to the heart when I got it in the first shop, just sort of a "let's unlock ascension 18" purchase, and then I got two Limit Break+ before act 2, and then two Reapers. So every fight was just "take 75 damage, heal to full". Except against the heart it was more like "take 75, heal to full, take 75, heal to full" and then I managed to survive against the heart's 10x15 attack at 3 life solely due to tungsten rod, went up to 200 strength off my Limit Breaks and then pummeled it for the kill.

I'd love to see that deck/turn by turn... Reaper exhausts, seems like it wouldn't last long? How many turns was your fight against the heart?

Dual Wield/Reaper abuse is one of those classics. The Trick with Brimstone is if you get it early enough it has a huge warping effect on your run due to giving you immense, for free scaling. I mean, it's a demon form that's in play from t1 that you dont have to pay for.
Once you have that setup, you can basically ignore all the other +str cards (Except maybe limit break) and focus on stuff like Disarm, Reaper, Sword Boomerang and other ways to leverage your crazy scaling into a very dead <whatever>. Feed is basically mandatory in this setup to give you a huge HP tank, but that's Str-clad for you, he's always in need of Feed(ing), and Vuln spam goes a long way since vuln makes every 2 points of strength equilvent to 3.
It does make the heart scarier, but it basically just puts a clock on you - Kill it before well, turn 8. Which is not that different to the normal heart fight.
But you can usually do that with the power that Brimstone gives you, you just have to get through turn 2/3 first.
(Checking, my last Ironclad/Brimstone run did it on turn 9 using a Limit Break+, 2 impreviouses, 2 reapers, 2 dual wield+ and coming out with 72/131 hp, having taken 279 damage during the fight.)

Jesus.
I guess that because I'm doing this spiralizing ascension strategy, I'm not really getting to settle in and really explore possibilities of any given character.

A16 and above with the Silent has been really difficult for me unless I get lucky with a shiv build and all the necessary components to make it work: Blade Dance + Accuracy + Wrist blade (hopefully).
I find trying to stall with defense and poison to work too slowly when everyone starts getting more damaging attacks at A16-A19, and while you can use catalyst to boost single-target poison damage, it relies way too heavily on getting the Specimen relic in order to keep damage going with multiple targets.
Not really sure how to get my A19 and A20 aside from hoping for a lucky deck combo with the exact components needed to squeak by those last fights.

I find corpse explosion invaluable if I am going for a poison build. Find the weakest mofo in a multi fight, corpse explosion, then stack as much poison as possible. The Specimen then just becomes gravy.
I haven't won an A20 Heart run in about 24 attempts (rotating across characters)

I've been too busy playing Vault of the Void to try spire again.
@Athenor you'll get there. Some of us have been playing this game for far too fucking long.
Also @Brolo poison scales incredibly quickly. Generally the big thing is just getting noxious fumes+ and getting that in play, which tends to rapidly end fights. If you have two it's just crazy town.

Without knowing your deck... Runic Dome isnt too bad. Looking at your relics, you've got what you need to build a really strong defensive deck, so i'd actually go hard on Runic Dome - just poison things to death while you tank everything
Pro tip: You have cursed key (+1 energy, get a curse whenever you open a chest) and open a chest with Darkstone Pariapt (+6hp whoever you gain a curse) and click the relic fast enough before the card flies into your deck you will get the +6hp. You will not get the hp if you are too slow.

I.. wait, what ? I've always gotten HP in that scenario. I've also never clicked relics.

That's... what should happen? I'm very confused here.
Like if you open the chest, you get the curse, and therefore gain the max hp from Darkstone.
Yes it is working correctly however people who don't instantly pick up the relic may not realize they could have gotten +6 hp. It's the one instance in the game where reaction time matters.
Like if you're talking to someone and look away after opening the chest, get cursed, then see it's the Darkstone, it's worth it to save scum for that 6hp.

Stig is saying on the android version if you have cursed key and the relic in the chest is Darkstone (not that you have Darkstone before opening the chest), if you pick up Darkstone fast enough you get the curse's bonus HP. On PC at least it doesn't work this way, AFAIK.

I'm on A20 on one character, and am A11-16 on the others. I've never beated 20 though, it's still a distant dream.
if you're able to get a dual wield, then its very viable to keep chaining reapers
Is this where i say it's not that hard and then get pelted with eggs?
...Because it's not that hard *ducks for cover*.

Bosses in these games exist in a state of both Bully and Bullyee.
In other words, bully the fuck out of them because they've got it coming the prats.
