I just bought a new one and it is a very nice phone but I've never had a very nice phone before and as such have no idea what to do with it
it's an ''lg vx8600''
I don't even know what that means
basically what I am asking here is how do I get songs from my computer to my phone without having to buy the thirty dollar ''music package'' the guy at the kiosk in the mall was trying to sell me
I haves to have my humps my humps my lovely lady lumps as my ringtone
Okay, someone recommend me a good phone and service.
The only thing I care about with the phone is that it has a decent camera and can get a good signal.

do you have verizon
because they do cutthroat shit like locking off the usb port on their phones so you can't up or download crap to the phone and instead have to pay them $20 just to get your fucking pictures onto your pc
unless you hack the firmware, but that kills the warrantee

when my mom calls, my phone plays the Guile theme from streetfighter
I got a Razr recently. It's pretty cool, a lot comfier in my pocket than my old phone. And once my Micro SD card gets here from Newegg, I can have my own ringtones and wallpapers as well.
Most new phones have a slot for a microSD, miniSD, or standard SD. Usually you get a micro and adapters to make it fit the larger sizes, depending on your phone. This is $25-40 for a 2 gig card. Then you get an SD card reader for your computer, which is $7-15. Now you just stick photos/music and shit on the card, shove it in your phone, and you are set.
The RAZR is a piece of shit. Also never get the Chocolate (VX8500) those have tons of issues with the touch screen and just blanking out in general.
Phonescoop will give you specs on most phones and if they can read cards or not, which slot they have, etc. The reviews are also handy, and although some can be retarded, browsing through them and glancing over the cons lists and seeing what pops up multiple times is usually a good warninator of issues that could become problematic for you should you grab the phone.
apparently the vx8600 is basically the chocolate except a clamshell without the touch screen issues
I'm pretty happy with it if only for the fact that I'd be happy with anything
my old phone was falling apart
You should have gotten the 8700. Ten times cooler for a marginal price increase. Now it is too late. The phone doesn't have too many issues though, so it's not so bad. The 8700's camera is 2 megapixel compared to the 8600's 1.3, and black tends to pick up finger smudges like nobody's business. But go on and be happy.
Edit: Actually if you got it from verizon I'd recommend going and swapping it now if it was purchased in the last 30 days. You just pay the price difference between phones.
Eh if you don't care about the camera or the look they're very similar. Enjoy it then. But one day, far in the future, you will take a photo with your camera.
Everyone says Razr's are shit. I've had mine for a year and never had any problems with it. Why are they shit? No one ever answers that. "They just are" is the most common reason. And to me, that means you dont know how to use a fucking cell phone.

I'm not a big fan of the keypad. It's also a bit flimsy and has had a variety of software issues in the past which are mostly fixed now, but some remnants remain. Along with a poorer battery life (due to its slim design) than many other phones it's just a big pile of blah. There are better phones.
Oh and Whippy, the 8700's keypad is a little more defined. The keypad on the 8600 just feels like one flat surface doesn't it?

I agree there are better ones, and I would like something better. But I wouldnt say the Razr is shit. I never really had a problem with the keypad, it took a little to get used to, but now I dont notice anything.and my battery lasts 3-4 days, so I am pleased.

Some people never have issues with it and it fits what they need and it's great for them. Overall though, I'd say compared to other similar priced phones that came out around its time it is a poor option.
The LGVX8500 (Chocolate) would also be a great, great phone if you never had issues with the screen blanking out or the touch pad going crazy nuts, or just unhappiness with the touch pad in general. Many people I've seen, unfortunately, have had to swap their Chocolates out several times. In the grander scheme of things something like an LGVX8300 is going to serve you much better.
It's a pretty rad phone, but it has a tonne of features I don't really see myself using anytime soon... but it's a solid phone (metal casing, scratch-resistant back), and the interface is easy to operate... I generally think Nokia is a safe bet in most cases, they make decent phones...

because to me the only things were the color/case and the camera
