The song is equally about football being hosted in England again in 1996 so it technically already did come home in a very real sense

Well, England gets at least as far as France. That counts for something, right?

And the Netherlands and Portugal! I mean basically we’ve won it already.

I think England can take it to a final this time. Gündogan, Antonio Rüdiger and Robin Gosens have all had some health concerns, and then Sweden or Ukraine (Sweden is more likely given recent performance) are strong but not up to the creativity, experience and physicality from the top teams.

Sweden-Denmark would be an amazing semifinals though...

they never left Britain since all of their games so far have either been at Wembley or Hampton

compared to Switzerland who've had to travel Baku -> Rome -> Baku -> Bucharest

awful suspicious if you ask me 🤔

Man, I was just complaining to a friend yesterday morning that the Euros had been boring and I wasn't going to be watching either Spain-Croatia or France-Switzerland. Stupid Euros. Twice they made me drop whatever I was doing.

For those not familiar with the US athletes, owners, coaches, comparisons being made....They are a bunch of former champions who won wide applause for their efforts and many championships.
    That bit is a lie.

Grealish, Foden and Mount on the bench. I’m sure England fans won’t be losing their shit over this.

so the leaked lineup was right

southgate starting with 7 defensive players will definitely go down well

I'd start defensive against Germany as well, but quite frankly against a team like Germany every minute you spend not having a ball is a stochastic goal accumulating, no matter your defensive acumen. You can also expect Germany to go quite hard from the start, and then you can sub in with more offensive players if Germany tires itself out.

England not looking hungry but Germany does not seem eager to capitalize, keen on running it home for a reset when they can. LOTS of German passes back to their halve and goalkeeper.

Competent but weak game at 44 minutes. But no players rolling around whimpering on the field. So far, this is tending towards penalties.

OH! Close. One mistake from Germany and Kane almost did it.

Boring first half, England sparked up in the second. Now Sweden just has to deal with Ukraine and we'll have all of Europe behind us against them.

will have to change something with Rice and Philips both on yellows

has to be rice coming off I’d say, Philips is basically the only English player making forward balls

to be fair, there was no one ahead of him and no one on the overlap

Southgate really seems to be hoping for a moment of individual brilliance because a goal isn’t gonna come from your buildup play
