I admittedly don't know much about Japanese politics other than it is very heavily conservative, but I have seen its impact on things like enabling companies to literally work their employees to death so much it has an official term: karoshi. Even without the overwork I've found the relationship between employer and employed is even more skewed in power balance than US companies. Things like nobody leaving the office until everybody else does, regardless of what their actual work hours are, and being forced to attend after-work drinking lest you damage your social standing in the company. And vacations? Given very begrudgingly and must be authorized by an insane number of people even for little things like an English teacher at school.
This is just apocrypha but I've heard a theory that Japan produces so much bizarre media specifically because of how repressed their society is. Eventually something's gotta burst out with force. No idea if this might be the case or not but sounds reasonably plausible looking at what historically happens when people and ideas are suppressed. And it's not "rogue creativity ceases to exist."
When a prominent political figure dies, every other one has to figure out some way to say they weren't a bad person. Even Jacinda Ardem (NZ's PM) said he was 'deeply committed to his role but also generous and kind' while Zelensky extended his condolences and the fuckin' Dalai Lama called him a personal friend who 'lived a meaningful life in the service of others'.
It's all just fuckin' noise. Trying to act like there's anything to it is pretty not worth it.

Evolutionary pressure selects for world leaders with a strong instinct toward making people feel bad when world leaders get assassinated. It's a whole finch beak situation.
People don't want to appear like they sympathize with the assassin
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
Wtf? So some random crazy dude who wanted to murder someone else and than just killed who was there instead?
That's incredibly random
Political assassinations throughout history generally are
Not in Russia! Those assassins were focused and relentless
Although there were several where the intended target was like taking a shit or overslept and the assassins shrugged and “gotta nuke someone”d the other government-adjacent people they had access to
russia might have literally the most famously-failed assassination in history, the mad lad himself

you need to make parts out of things stronger than plastic typically, though I have heard of "3D printed guns" I don't know if they're actually a thing
3d printed guns can work flawlessly and safely now, they aren't the crude one shot weapons they used to be. But why bother when two pipes, a battery and capgun (or whatever he used) powder is simpler and does the job? 3d printed guns work well in the US where you can buy ammunition but in Japan that's not an option.
If you would like to know more about the state of 3d printed guns https://youtu.be/jlB2QV5wVxg
The subject of the video was raided by police several months later and died in police custody from a heart attack 🤔

I actually just a couple days ago saw an article about this being a problem in the US because they're completely untraceable.
"I am not young enough to know everything." - Oscar Wilde
They're growing in popularity with gangs in Australia and other countries, but in the US its easier to get a real gun and buy a full auto switch off AliExpress.
They do it, but everything's on paper thanks to the NRA so it takes time. The other issue is that serial numbers can be removed which turns any gun into a ghost gun. Illegal to sell, but criminals aren't worried about that anyway. The other issue is that it's an after the fact measure, like CCTV it's only useful for catching a criminal after the crime is committed not before. It's not necessarily a measure that prevents crime.
3d printed guns are an issue in countries with limited guns but in the US they're not so relevant when there is literally more guns than people.

You trace a gun in LA Noire by waltzing into the local gun store 20 minutes after the murder to look at the Big Book Of Who I Sold Guns To and rapidly pressing the "tap" button to have Cole tap his index finger all over the page, smudging all the white sounding names until only one option remains. That's yer man. Bake him away, toys.
More reports about the assassin's motivations, with more vague wording about a "certain group" (特定の団体) that he hated and associated with Abe. This is even more vague than earlier reports that suggested it was a religious group. 1/
2/ Many social media users are filling in the blanks and guessing: one of the trending terms on Twitter in Japan is "Unification Church" - the name of a religious organization founded in Korea that had its Nara branch at the station where Abe was shot.
3/ The Unification Church has members in many countries, including Japan, and has supported conservative political causes. It is no secret that Abe Shinzo, Donald Trump, and other politicians have been friendly towards the church.
4/ During the current Upper House election campaign, Abe's connection to the Unification Church has been mentioned by fringe candidates as a reason to believe the LDP is under "foreign" influence
5/ As this photo from a magazine article shows, Abe had ties to a sizable list of religious organizations. Like many democracies around the world, Japan is a country in which conservative religious groups support conservative politicians.
6/ Another religious group that has faced negative attention in this election is Soka Gakkai, which backs the Komeito party, the coalition partner of Abe's LDP. A few days ago I noted how a nationalistic LDP politician was distancing herself from Komeito
7/ Japanese police/media are facing a very unpleasant situation. If they report the details of what the shooter is saying, it could increase hate towards a specific group, towards all new religious movements, and/or towards foreigners.

I got hit with a spud gun from a pretty good distance and it knocked the wind clean out of me, broke a rib, and left a bruise for like 2 months.
I guess what I'm saying is don't underestimate the efficacy of home-made munitions.

I'm honestly glad nothing bad ever came of our dumbfuck activities. Can you imagine a big can of soup launched from one hitting the windshield of a car going 70-80mph?

“Of course we don’t mourn his death,” he said. “We mourn the opacity he displayed his entire life and his decision never to make an accounting, to always take advantage of his immense political and economic power that he enjoyed for the rest of his life.”
