We talking about the Silvercorp coup? One of the dumbest attempted coups of all time, stopped mostly by their own useless incompetence but also some fishermen who were happening by?

It's not the point of the tweet, but I find it weird that chocolate chip cookies can be traced to a specific recipe
Seems like one of those things that would have been invented roughly 20 minutes after a baker got hold of some chocolate, but I guess that's the genius of the recipe
Cause if that is true I am going to lose my god-damn mind.
it is absolutely true
also, sliced-bread is only 5 years older than grassley and feinstein
we talking like, machined sliced bread, because I think people had cut bread before
Yeah, pre-sliced bread. That's what people are referring to when they call something the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I never understood this. Pre-sliced bread is awful. It dries out and/or goes moldy much, much faster than unsliced bread, and it's not like bread knives are some sort of rare and mythical artifact.
Ok but if you're an old timey housewife and you've got 7 kids to send to school and a surly husband to send to work at a construction site where a dog is gonna be trying to stop a baby from falling off the I beams and they all need lunches packed you're probably grateful that the pre sliced bread speeds that process up a bit
Look, I've baked my own bread and cutting bread can be a pain in the ass. Also, while you're not incorrect that pre-slice bread can go moldy or dry faster, I grew up in a house with three other kids, and I can tell you right now that mold never had a chance to be a problem

If the internet was around in the 30s you’d have the greatest generation making fun of boomers for being such snowflakes they had to buy pre-sliced bread

Pre-sliced bread from the bakery department, like a nice sourdough or what have you, is totally tasty and lasts plenty long if you toss it in the fridge
The mass-produced stuff in the bread aisle can get bent
Bread freezes very well so I'm confused by this discussion, but I guess other people don't live by Michael Pollan's famous adage. Eat food. Not too much. Mostly bread.
Bread gets dry in the fridge and in the cupboard, but if you want one weird trick to revitalize it you can spritz it with water and pop it in the oven

Slicing bread isn't that big a deal... but I don't really want to deal with it unless it's good bread (either homemade or from the local bakery). For sandwiches I'll absolutely just grab a loaf of pre-sliced whole wheat or something.

holy fucking christ. I stopped it at the 26 second mark which was enough (you'll... see why....) but still. jeepers.
