When you take a picture with your phone the orientation is stored as metadata in the picture itself. I don't know if this is the case with PA but some webforums will automatically strip metadata from hosted pictures as a privacy/security measure.

For "not being a very good singer" that was pretty incredibly.

You should put that on your resume as a great example of how you can make shitty writing sound amazing!

So long as it's not the writer hiring, there's a 95% chance that would be a huge selling point!

Not sure I can put that on my resume as it will scare off a lot of people.

Unless of course I'm applying for a porn game, then I'm good to go.

So gave the Untitled Goose game another few plays, and honestly, it was enough to remind me why I like it so much: because you can screw around as much as you like, there's no time limit, and it's fun letting out those silly goose activities where they're not going to do any real lasting harm.

Though there's no way in hell I'm showing this to my niece just yet. But still... that's why I put that stuff on here- because after slogging through some junky games that feel like a chore to play, well... it's nice to remind yourself just what "fun" really is. It's the same reason I keep Catlateral Damage installed- because sometimes you just need something mindless and fun and hilarious to yank you out of that mental rut that comes from playing a lot of heavy games.

So after that... we ended up in...

    110) Final Fantasy IV - 3D Edition
    Price: $15.99

Honestly... I knew this one was going to be a bit further down when I tried to watch the opening cinematic and it decided to skip more than my niece after four cookies and a juice box. I actually had a saved game from way back when, so I went ahead and entered that so I wouldn't have to sit through the opening cutscenes again.

Though to be quite honest... it really hasn't held up after all these years. If you've got any experience playing any other version of FFIV, you're in for a big surprise- not only did SqEnix remake the game in 3D, they also jacked up the difficulty curve, and I think that's what really throws me about it.

My saved game was very early- just after the segment where Rosa comes chasing after Cecil and Rydia, only to fall ill in Kaipo, requiring you to travel to Damcyan for the sand pearl. I was stuck in the desert grinding- and realizing the enemies there give jack crap as far as money goes. Usually you'd want to make sure you can save up to afford a few sleeps at the inn while you grind, but in this version, the enemies hit harder and drop less- forcing you to grind, grind, grind if you want to get anywhere with it, and grinding just really isn't all my style these days- I just don't have the patience to grind up this game, and I've kind of had it with boosting difficulty levels because apparently you can't have a Good Gaming Experience without things being goddamned Nintendo Hard. I've played the PS1 version, and honestly... I kind of prefer it to this one. If you're going to force your players to grind, at least make it more streamlined, like you're weaving it in with sidequests and the like, instead of presenting a brick wall and saying "you must hit this hard to pass, git gud and grind lol". Find a way to keep your player engaged while they get stronger and they'll have more fun.

What with the new remake coming out, though, you'd be better off with it instead of this one- it's based off the 1991 SNES release without the B.S. difficulty spikes, so if you had to make a choice, I'd say grab that one and leave this one to catch dust. I don't know if they're going to redo FFIV: The After Years in the same format, though I hope so.

In the end, I'd say this one's a four- why would you torture yourself playing this when you can grab the new version that's not as teeth-clenchingly grindy and easier? I'm uninstalling it- honestly, I don't get what the fascination is with difficulty much any more- I mean, really, who cares if a game is difficult? As long as it's good, who really cares?

Anyways, one of many Final Fantasies are down. Where next...?

…aaaand in worse news, apparently Titanfall 2’s been compromised:

The bug reportedly allows local code execution from Respawns' servers, potentially affecting both PCs and consoles with Titanfall 2 installed. While there are still plenty of unknowns, several community members have raised the alarm and encouraged players to uninstall the game until the vulnerability is fixed.

There’s a tweet out there that says what the problem is, but until Respawn says otherwise, it might be a great idea to stay away or even uninstall this one until it’s fixed.

    "Respawn investigating"

Well in true corporate fashion all it takes is potential direct liability to get them off their asses. I don't know if it's the same parties but Titanfall 1/2's servers have been under constant ddos for months now and are basically unplayable as it is because of some really petty grievance which I can't even recall offhand, and fans have been complaining that Respawn/EA haven't been doing anything to resolve things as it was. I'm not surprised the situation has devolved further.

Years ago someone posted about what they felt was the intended mission order in
Saints Row 3. I remember the story feeling very disjointed when I played through, and the order posted tried to make the story a bit more cohesive. Any chance that posters still around and has their order handy?

With a lot of the other Titanfall hacking that was going on, the hackers were spreading a lot of misinformation about it. I wonder if the crazy claims that this lets you inject code onto any machine is just more misinformation.

That review of the 3D version of FF4 is funny, because I have the opposite issue. The pixel remasters sound beyond easy, and I find it difficulty to be engaged in an rpg if it doesn't challenge me. If the game is easy enough to basically auto pilot through, I might as well just read a book and not actually play. But also, I played the 3ds ff4 and did not have to grind at all.

First EA screws it with that release strategy, then the sequel gets a bullet between the eyes from the same Battle Royale military junta that killed COD MP, and now we find out it’s a festivus for hackers who don’t like its shitty publisher a little more emphatically than the rest of us don’t like its shitty publisher.

The difficulty for the 3D FF4 was, if I remember correctly, the same difficulty as the Japanese release of the original game. See, the US only got the easy more version, not the "normal" difficulty version.

Now as most folks here know, I'll play on whatever is the easiest option on offer most of the time because challenge isn't specifically a thing I care about. But I also don't remember having a hard time with FF4 3D version, and I'm not sure why not.

Oh no they definitely changed things in the 3d version. Bosses had new mechanics and stuff. It was an actual gameplay difficulty increase.

The difficulty in the us release FF2 wasn't so much changed as the game was simplified.

Now with added Laura Bailey - hurray!

But it's still Betrayal - hurroo.

BR 1 & 2 Terminal Cuts (the pseudo-remaster, for want of a better term) got updates too. Nothing too major, a handful of bug fixes, but Xinput button prompts in a PC version finally is nice.

    Oh my...

I'm 20 minutes into Webbed and I think I love this game!

It's filled with charm, some amazing spider physics, and spider dancing!

Weaving your web, solving puzzles... I just have a huge smile while playing this thing.

The music is nice and catchy, but it also changes a bit depending on the environment (you'll get what I mean once you go into the water.) It's such an upbeat thing.

Seriously people, go check it out!

    Also, I'm totally caffeine spider:

    161) KNIGHTS
    Price: $0.99

You know, stuff like this is why I'm happy I made this a project. There's plenty of shit on Steam in the 99 cents or less category- stuff where people barely made an effort, asset flips, or cheapo jigsaw puzzle games that only sell well because "OMFG look it has boobies", but KNIGHTS, well... it's like cleaning out a sewer and finding someone's old ring that got dropped in years ago.

It's chess-related- you're given a board, a number of chess knights, and highlighted squares to try and get them to. The knights move like they do in a regular game of chess- two spaces up, down, left, or right, and then one square in a 90-degree angle to the first two- an L-shape, if you will.

Quite literally, that's the whole game. There's no limit of moves, no timer ticking away, you just play until you get the solution and then move on to the next puzzle. It's got calming background music, it runs, and it even drops cards, if you're into that. It's a puzzle game that doesn't try to implement anything extra as artificial difficulty, and there's more than one solution to each puzzle- and it even highlights what squares your active knight can move to. It's a puzzle game that takes all the stress out of the puzzle, and doesn't try to mock you if you take an hour on one puzzle.

If you like puzzles but hate all the stupid artificial difficulty, and you don't mind chess, this is an easy pick-up for a buck (or even $0.49 because it's on sale as of this writeup, until 9/20/2021).

I'd say it's easily a 7- it's a puzzle game that goes at your pace, and it might be good for the chess nut in your life. Honestly, I think they could get twice as much for it, it's that good. It's staying installed because of that reason- I don't mind a puzzle game I can just keep picking away at when I feel like it, and while the puzzles are tough, they're manageable and it doesn't make you feel stupid- you just keep playing and moving until you get it.

And like I said, you can do a hell of a lot worse for a buck on Steam!

Anyways, let's put the chess set up for now, and go see where we're going now. I'll keep this around- like I said, it's just nice to have a puzzle game I can grind at my own pace...

    270) So Many Cubes

Looks interesting, but looking at the discussions, well... the game barely runs, the achievements are busted, and generally it looks like a giant pile of crap in the middle of the road I'm choosing to step around because the dev has apparently fucked off somewhere and not returned for years to fix bugs that are four-five years old at this point. I'd rather avoid migraines than have to play them.

Sadly, I don’t think it’s appropo of the classic Mechwarrior games coming to Steam or GoG. Those appear to remain LosTech, buried in some publisher’s vault.

    Behind the scenes:
Not being a very good singer, I knew this was gonna be tough, but boy was I wrong just HOW tough. :)

I ended up doing over a dozen takes. It all had to be done in one take so I wouldn't have any off-sync edits. I recorded to a version of Favorite Things from the Sound of Music in order to get the sync timing just right. I actually nailed it on my third go and was pretty excited...until I heard it. It sounded flat, like I was reading from a paper (which I was).

So I went back and recorded it again. Another 2 attempts that came out great in timing, but still flat and not hitting where I wanted it to be. More attempts followed. And then even more attemps. Then I got it. It had tone and energy. The only problem was that it sounded dead without the music playing.

Off I went to find a karaoke version of the song. I went through half a dozen versions before I found one that sounded good and was actually in-time with the version I recorded to. So many variations with crazy timings or upbeat mixes. Ugh....

Finally, I realized I could create a custom album cover for the Soundcloud track, and figured I've already gone this far down the rabbit hole already. I'm not @HiT BiT, but I got it done.

So there you have it. While it's totally not necessary, if anyone wants to donate to the "Help Dover upgrade his mic" fund, I'd greatly appreciate it. My paypal is [email protected] or you can PM me if you want to use something else. Again, no pressure or anything, donate if you want. I do a lot of these for fun and because I appreciate everyone in the PA forums.

That's, um, that's very good for someone who claims to be not very good! Maybe a little more diaphragm, but that's very good!

    Okay, two hours in.

Life is Strange: True Colors is phenomenal. It's beautiful, the soundtrack is great, the voice acting is absolutely on point, Alex is delightful and painfully relatable as a protagonist... and it's also heartbreaking. Two hours in and I've already got all teary-eyed once.

I bought the "gimme all the goods" $80 ultimate version. No regrets.

I have absolutely no interest in playing these games, but aren't they basically mutant and metahuman stories on an intimate level?
