Mean Joe Greene Mace Windu vs. an Entire Droid Army.
including a ridiculous flying stompy piston thing.

    Right??

I also loved that there were two(?) entire episodes of Anakin dueling Ventriss with zero dialogue. Even better, at least two entire episodes of ARC Troopers being badass MFer's with almost zero dialogue. And Grevious was indeed a terrifying villain.

Genndy Tartakovsky is an animation treasure.

Dude gave us Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, the Clone Wars shorts, Symbionic Titan, fuckin Primal and also those Transylvania movies I guess.

Three of those shows slap so hard they should be subject to assault charges. That's how hard they go.

I didn't even spend much time on clean up. There are steps you can do to smooth out the surface of a 3D print even more and did none of them. Just use my warhammer painting skills to weather it a bit.

Star Wars cosplayers tend to have some of the best weathering skills in the world of cosplay, and I love that most of those techniques really are just treating the outfits like a 1:1 scale "miniature" (plus a few old Hollywood mainstays like Fullers earth)

like I do post-apocalyptic costuming stuff and so many of our techniques are cribbed from Star Wars cosplayers and then cranking them up to 11

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal is a frustrating mix of kiddy animation and really fucking weird and dark shit that I'm watching every episode wishing that it were Primal.

    The premise is that
three eternal champions, a time monk, an elf warrior, and a dark witch, keep getting reborn in new bodies to fight an eternal evil, but something goes wrong this time around and they're activated too early (and maybe not in the prepared bodies?). There's some compelling stuff about identity and ethics in there.

Except the most recent episode has characters from the reincarnated elf's backstory in the present day and treats the origin story events as if they were only a few years ago. Unless I missed some time monk shenanigans somehow, it's some serious plot and tone whiplash.

It's worth watching, but don't expect Primal or even Samurai Jack.

Rendar was usually seen wearing a blue and brown jumpsuit—typical attire for freighter captains at the time—along with a flexmetal blast vest with padded 19-96 Kinetic Absorption Panel pauldrons that provided some protection during lightfights and a pair of brown flight gloves.

I sprained my fucking finger scrolling down through that wiki page it is fucking OBSCENE if you wrote a wiki page that long about Ho Chi Minh a Vietnamese history museum curator would be like "seems excessive"

GOD DAMN E-Wing! Never thought I'd ever see one on screen after the rest of the EU got nuked. Leave it to Filoni to keep cramming those EU ships back in.

Yes but counterpoint, they ARE a stupid weapon. It's a stupid gimmicky weapon to wow escaped padewans and weak jedi, wielded by dark side users only slightly more powerful. Every time an inquisitor runs into someone actually capable they get their faces stomped.

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Yeah once I realized that the spinny blades are a crutch to get around how they aren't super great at blocking normally, it all clicked into place.

Yeah, like my major complaint in that basically all fights in rebels and the clone wars is that, in reality everyone is as good as they need to be to push the plot forward. Sometimes the inquisitors (out any bad guy really, maul or doku for example) just flat out destroy things and other times they’re running off as fast as they can, there isn’t much consistency in terms of competence. And I mean, I realise it is a kids show so it doesn’t need this much critical thinking.

But I’m definitely going to think about it though.

Hearing that bit of lore dropped through A More Civilized Age really brought me around a little on the inquisitors. Imagining Vader coming up with these gimicky lightsaber gizmos to compensate for their lack of skill and force-attunement and basing it off how scary Darth Maul was when he did it for real re-framed it just enough for me.
    It also makes remembering how
Maul's fights against those guys went in Rebels all the more delicious.

It is always fun when a "real" jedi or sith runs into an inquisitor. The Maul fight. Ahsoka repeatedly mopping the floor with multiple inquisitors, sometimes even unarmed. Vader himself barely having to lift a finger.

They're a great foil for characters like early-Rebels Kanan, Ezra, Cal Kestis, and presumably Sabine, though. They fill that role of a bad guy who is a step above the most badass storm trooper, but well below Vader.

Yeah, the inquisitors don't even get to be flippin' Sith, they're just one of Vader's paramilitary outfits. They're basically the force equivalent of mall cops.

One of the Vader comics has Palps putting him up against a bunch of them when he's first getting them ready, and Vader generously helps them to a number of prosthetic limbs and organs.

Her fight against one in Tales of the Jedi was real good, too.
Dude just strides up like that sword guy from Raiders of the Lost Ark against an unarmed Ahsoka and it goes about as well as you'd expect for him.

I’m speedrunning Rebels to prep for Ahsoka’s release; Filoni’s tendency to play with his favorite toys can be irksome at times, but when that aligns with your own favorites, as it did when I got to S2E7, “Wings of the Master” yesterday, boy howdy is it a thing of joy.

I was 5 when Empire came out, and it’s one of my first moviegoing memories, albeit a blurry one. I mostly remember my mother’s reaction to the Vader reveal. RotJ, though… I was eight, and had primed myself for it with a whole host of prerelease material, including reading the novelization of the film before seeing it (I was confused why the film didn’t open with Luke constructing his lightsaber). So, yeah, when the episode revealed the
    B-Wing, my favorite ship

I was instantly eight years old again.

42 vs 39 so basically right on the money.
