I am Amateurhour and I have a dream. We, the few, the proud, the CHAT, should hang out and watch movies together. I went to a lot of sites to see what all is available for streaming and watch party and this article sums it up pretty well.

For Netflix, you're gonna need a browser extension. I've used this one before and it works pretty well

So here's the idea. First, if you're interested, let me know with a !MOVIES in your color of choice. When you join the club, also let me know the following
- What days/times work best for you (please include your time zone and location, as some things will be region blocked)
- a recommendation for a movie or documentary, that is available through watch party services (I'll comprise a list based on that and we can vote)
I'm also considering trivia and door prizes for best commentary, it could be:
- a $25 blockbuster gift card, unopened!
- a VHS copy of The Hunt for Red October!
- and more!
Signups will run through the end of July, at which point we'll set dates and pick movies. I'll do this through a google docs poll or something so we can track it.
FAQs
- is there a discord channel or anything? No, at this time I'm setting this up using the built in watch party chat function only. It's going to get confusing if we're all talking.
- what about ratings/content matter? Please, if you post a movie or show that you want to submit for vote, make sure you post the rating of it, or an IMDB link to the film/show (or Wikipedia, just something so we can see what we're getting into in case something is problematic)
- what about tv shows? For now let's stick to movies, but tv shows are an option
- can we have more than one watch group? Absolutely, this isn't Russia Danny... Let's get a roster together first and then we can figure out multiple schedules
