animated trailer for sony's new vtuber project (seems to be separate from the other vtuber project sony music was holding auditions for)
So I looked up that other Sony vtuber project and it looks like they were hiring for 50 Vtubers? It looks like between what you posted, that Vee project, and them investing in Nijisanji, Sony's pretty gung ho about VTubers.
Well last I checked Vtubers are doing quite well in the land of the rising sun. So Sony probably figures there is still plenty of room for growth. I also wouldn't be surprised if they saw this as a way to find new talents for various entertainment setups and to get those talents before they end up as part of some really obnoxious idol agency that most would rather have nothing to do with because said agency has batshit crazy demands over keeping control of everything and it's almost never done with the idol's interests in mind.
Heck, I can see how it would be considered fairly low cost as well. The streaming gig means if they have enough appeal, they'll get a reasonable audience. Then from there, if they decide they really don't want to do entertainment, they'll be out before too much money has been spent on them. If entertainment jobs do stay an interest they can then go to hone their skills, while building up a following. A following that could help make certain projects profitable. I mean, we know that in more traditional media, some studios are willing to shell out some big bucks for a well known name because they know that name will get them eyeballs they otherwise might not have gotten. streaming in general let's you cultivate that on the cheap in comparison with the more traditional routes because a twitch or youtube channel are essentially free and I don't think the avatar rigs are that expensive in comparison to everything else one would have to spend to get rolling in some other form of media.
Hell, there is also the whole thing where vtubing is likely allowing for really good talents, that would otherwise go unnoticed, to actually get their break and go into things like voice acting or other gigs where you can keep you anonymity and possible minimize the level of social interaction. I know one area can be social anxiety, but another area is also people see how shitty the pubic treatment can be for someone that gets relatively well known. The worse thing is the person could avoid saying or doing anything controversial and they still get assholes trying to ruin their lives for the dumbest and pettiest of reasons and this is before we even delve into the insanity that batshit crazy stalkers can cause.
Actually, one of my big worries with vtubing as it takes off and with streaming in general. Is that as these become more mainstream, not sure regular streaming is at that point yet, probably very close. You'll see the shittier companies jump aboard the bandwagon with plans of using it as the next frontier of labor exploitation. Granted, we already see that with how youtube and twitch operate, but I do worry that you'll get production companies seeing that as a cheap way to get talents for next to no compensation. I'm hoping some of the unions that represent more traditional actors start looking into this realm because at some point there is going to be a need to organize the labor. Not sure how they'd do it because one hurdle is that many vtubers and streamers are independent, which essentially makes them independent contractors; especially, with how the only guidelines they have to follow are the same TOS that everyone else has to follow.
They said it was coming at the beginning of the year yeah, with big "covid permitting" disclaimers.
E: Oh I had it mixed up from when they announced the ID ones, and everyone assumed that meant EN as well (which was something the girls have talked about on occasion)
The barrier to 3d is studio space: they have to get them all in the same room and travel restrictions will prevent that regardless of where that studio is

Haruka debuted her new model and had a video for the debut and talks about her childhood. Haruka was diagnosed with autism as a child and had a rough time in school.
I'm so glad vtubing has become a thing. It is fascinating and really awesome to see the positive impact it has had on people with social and health issues and allowing them to be themselves while interacting with friends and chat and also support themselves with it.

Finana got extremely real at the tail end of her perspective of the 6 month Lazulight stream yesterday (when the others had already logged out). Ditto to what you're saying, it does seem the space is encouraging to people who have had a tough time in more "regular" jobs, for whatever reason.
the bit here is that ollie was long time friends with hakos in her previous vtubing career, which she started by spending 5 minutes of her debut stream talking about how much she loved roberu

Thats really neat. I had her old id shoved in my face by youtube suggestions a month or so ago, but the wingman stuff is great fun. i hope they collab again soon.

I assume that those plans were made pre-Delta and well, we all know what happened.

Who were they before?
ollie's a real one, watches even smaller vtubers constantly
I assume that those plans were made pre-Delta and well, we all know what happened.
On stuff, the latest Holo guest on the show of the bald comedian dude is Suisei:

Selen said they were explicitly denied Halo permissions, so don't count on it. No idea what MS is playing at there.
That is both weird and shitty!
