I have a very specific not-at-all-homer strategy to this draft

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

My homer strategy extended to: get Ryan Tannehill to do a fun name and look for a stack at WR or TE.

Feeling happy with my draft, which is a scary feeling

Lol watching the top 100 players on nfl network an deshaun Watson was 18 , but none of the players got to talk about him just a short video of the narrator going over his uncertain future and his 2020 accolades.

So I got into it with a Slurs fan today and I said the only chance his team passed their hard ceiling of being 9-8 wastrels is if the other mediocre teams in the division (Giants, Cowboys) imploded and they ran the table in the division.

He cited the defense and Ryan Fitzpatrick and in the moment I labeled him Sharry Bobbins.

Because he only shows up when there's a quarterback crisis and everything he does leaves you with still having a quarterback crisis.

Magary posted about this in yesterday’s WY(WF)TS:
If you’re a real football team, you bring in Ryan Fitzpatrick as your backup because no quarterback alive is better in small doses. If you’re a laughingstock, you bring him in, at age 38 and with a career record of 59-86-1, as your established starter. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been in the NFL for 16 years now. Do you know how many postseason games he’s played in? ZERO. Absolutely fucking zero.

I think that’s the correct take

He'll have a few Fitzmagic games, a couple really terrible ones, get benched for a couple games, get hurt for a few more, and be mediocre the rest of season.

Because he is placed in the tanking teams. I am still surprised there is no rule or discouragement against it even after the Texans uprising last year

I mean, and I'm really asking here, is there a less qualified QB that's more deserving of an HoF spot?

Like, if you wanna call "back up QB" a semi-specialist position, like if you say "the greatest blocking TE of all time" sort of thing. For the Superbowl era I think Derek Anderson and Ryan Fitzpatrick are both easily top 3 back up QBs. Maybe a McCown brother? Maybe between them.

Yeah Josh belongs here and I think started a few games last year even this last part isn’t true although it seems like it should be

I think all sports should have a “character” Hall of Fame section.

Guys who don’t have the stats or success but still had a huge impact on the history of the sport.

Guys like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bartolo Colon, Robert Horry, etc…

  • Options
Captain InertiaCaptain Inertia Registered User regular
I really like the “specialist”/“role” standout HoF selection….an “Ultimate Guy”

I don’t know if Colon qualifies since he is just a starting pitcher who stayed around forever, but yeah a guy who excels as a backup/bridge QB or a “big shot expert” (?) …. Someone get the stat nerds to cook up metrics to compare these types of Guys!

Also Zach Thomas needs to be in the HoF.

HoF requirements are nebulous when they aren't arbitrary so I think you can make a case for whomever you want that's recognizable. Jimmy Johnson was just inducted because he won two Super Bowls but it took forever because he was bad for the Dolphins and everyone that knows anything about that era knows the Cowboys were stacked with HoFers at multiple positions on both sides of the ball. OJ was inducted but his bust was taken out after he probably murdered two people but Marvin Harrison was inducted after he was probably involved in a murder so even that criteria isn't consistent.

Lock lost his job to bridgewater wtf.

From everything I heard Lock has looked inconsistent. And with a defensive head coach, it make sense to go with someone who would be less turnover prone. Fangio and that front office just better hope you can still win with a top 3 defense and an ok QB. Fields by all accounts is looking good, passing on him may cost them their jobs down the road.

Bridgewater got replaced by Sam fucking Darnold , he is not an “ok” qb. Just makes their reluctance to pursue a qb in he draft even more weird.

Drew Lock not being better than Bridgewater is not a surprise

It’s a surprise that they would admit it after passing on Fields, unless they still think they’re getting Rodgers or whatever

As a Bronco’s fan, I totally didn’t watch preseason highlights and go, “Wow, Teddy Bridgewater is like, just as good as Drew Lock.”

Just like I totally didn’t watch any Bears highlights and go “WOW Justin Fields is WAY better than both of them.”

I’m gonna not scream in my pillow now.
