I leveled a falconer with the Bo Staff on Legacy, the one gives a huge bonus to shurikens and throwing stuff. Really useful. I dread re-leveling on cycle lol.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
What am I missing out by playing offline? Started last night, but went offline so I could play. Googling seems like I still get to chose CoF at some point in the campaign. Chat was also somehow still working.

Just the option to trade and play with other people, since cycle content isn't limited to online play.
Watching him play, seems like the same basic idea I was running with--Harvest as a support skill to apply stuff, not doing much/any damage with it directly. The aesthetic of doing some melee, without having to scale melee.
You might be able to actually get damage out of Harvest and minions at the same time with a curse-heavy or dot-based build, if I recall my theorycrafting, but this is probably the easiest way to go.
Started a Primalist just to mess around with in Offline mode. Game does not run on my machine on High settings on a 4K TV which is a shame lol. My poor 3060 is already showing its age apparently.
I can't tell if I'm wrong for not caring at all or if the people that've dumped the game down to mixed reviews are the ones that are wrong. But I'm the main character, so surely it's them.
It's just such an obvious thing that's going to happen. Much, much, much bigger companies drop the ball regularly, because the ball always way heavier than expected and slimy for some reason and has some weird sharp spots.
There's always something that's going to break under the real strain of way, way more people actually trying to play your game.
There will usually be issues with always online yes. They do have that rather yikes statement pre release though. They were optimistic but yeah since they are open they have had "fixes" that kind of countered their original statements. They have had to turn off functionality (friends list). They have had to add a queue and pop caps. They had a rather oof communication (i like they were open with communication btw) that they had too much logging in place that meant they DDoS'd themselves most likely. They also have the "missing content" but that is not a big deal for me it has been a thing with the dev for awhile now.
To be perfectly clear I dont agree with review bombing the game because of it.
I am for just playing the game the way you want and if I have to wait to play online so be it. I have other games to play and capcom cup this weekend. So I have entertainment. I can wait. Ive waited this long for 1.0.

To be perfectly clear I dont agree with review bombing the game because of it. But I also dislike the revisionist stuff im seeing from the "defenders" too. Things like D4 release wasnt rock solid because it was. Say what you will about the game itself the release was playable from shortly after the flip of the switch.

Are you not counting the early access a few days before full launch for D4? I don't remember how long, but servers were on fire for at least a bit. Infinite queue that dumped you back into the start of the queue or a black screen.
The $30 paid early-access period was relatively solid. As soon as the game went live for the people that paid only $70 instead of $100, there were tons of issues. I don't know why we're doing this again when you can go back and look at the Diablo 4 thread to see all of the people that were complaining about that.
Once I could login, the game was a rubber banding disaster. I couldn't play much at all until the third day, and there are plenty of other people who had even worse experiences. The 4 hours of stable play I got with Last Epoch last night (during North American prime time) is more than I had in the first three days of D4.
I don't think all of those articles from the time the game came out are revisionist history. Here's a google search of news at the time of launch -- it's all public record and very easy to verify.

I removed the statement I don't want to argue about that games successful launch it is secondary. Just outlining the legitimate issues some may have with this game. I would thumbs up the game still and I haven't even touched 1.0.
I think it's a bit random as well, some people had no issue playing d4 at launch, others did. Most likely the same thing here, I'm sure there are folks who can play. So you get these polarized views but really in the aggregate it's the same level of failures.
I just assume it comes down to cost, it's expensive to scale up infrastructure to something you wouldn't ordinarily see.

It's not that, they've talked about their prep and thought they were set for infinite scaling in terms of resources.
But as is always the case, they missed a (couple?) thing(s) that couldn't scale well and so the servers instantly ate shit.
It's pretty similar to the Helldivers 2 stuff going on -- it's code stuff and weak links in the chain failing that they can't just throw a bunch of bandwidth and computing power at to fix.
There's nothing in their pre-launch post that was really wrong. They knew it would be hard, and thought they had over prepared by anticipating the difficulty and planning for errors. They just got some errors they didn't plan for, and here we are. It's the story of basically every multiplayer launch I've participated in, with some rare exceptions (none of them named Diablo).

Didn't their IAM service fail? That's just another service in their environment along with the others. Sounds like it failed due to the volume of connection attempts, possibly some of the services were setup to be scalable without limits but not of all them it seems.
The chat spamming for referrals won't stop though.
i hope not, i want people to spam referral links in general chat for the lifetime of this game now - it can be a less intrusive toucan meme
This is the future. This is what we built. This is what we wanted. It must have been. Because we all had the fucking choice, didn't we? It is only our money that allows commercial culture to flower. If we didn't want to live like this, we could have changed it at any time, by not fucking paying for it.
So let's celebrate by all going out and buying the same burger. -transmet
Yo, if anyone makes a new character once you get to town, have someone party up and teleport to the mastery guy. You can instantly pick a master, you gain a huge passive bonus especially on low level and get their default skill.
My level 3 Falconer has her falcon and +12 dexterity just from talking to one dude. Thanks @akjak for helping me out. Immediately returned back to the start and started just bullying everyone I came across.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
I am pretty sure they do not. It is common in arpgs to have wasted affixes. This game handles it well though. You can craft them off.
The gear system can be a bit tiring though, my eyes just start glazing over sometimes when I look at stuff. My level 54 Warlock is still using her first crafted amulet. I've probably found some better stuff but it can be a pain to upgrade an item with 4 useful stats. Took me about 30 levels to upgrade my weapon too. At least there's the idol system, makes losing resistances when switching gear a lot more tolerable.
+1

User friendly, in-game loot filter system helps a lot with weeding out the useless stuff too.
This game keeps giving me minion bonuses on my Mage gear.
Does Mage even have minions?
I think they can get some mirror images from teleport, but I don't think that's something you can build around lol. It's weird how everyone can go minion except mage. I expected rune master to have one or two, but instead it was a bunch of crazy shit I can't deal with.

Who was that? Sounds cool.

But things are working right now! Enjoy it while it lasts everyone!
Still looking for people to add me (doctor_ew) for their friend referral
It's a bummer that the servers are down now on my end and being wonky all around, but I'm not sure if 28 hours is 2 days and counting.

I actually did start an offline Primalist earlier though, after miraculously logging directly into Helldivers for a couple planets.

When you click the ability on your bar as if to switch it the bottom left option is a blank space.
