The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I was waiting for the female to start locking lips with Mark. Very much reminded of the episode of Futurama where that woman takes over Planet Express and is all over Fry because he's so dirty.
Yeah, the last couple of issues have felt a little light on plot.
I did like Allen the Alien "playing possum" in the latest issue and Nolan's "shocking revelation" at the end.
Ah but which wife is he talking about?
That's the first thing I thought.
Coming immediately after the page with Debbie talking about him, I'm leaning towards her. Nolan made his affection towards his other wife (and the species as a whole) pretty clear, so it doesn't seem like something he'd be surprised about. Missing Debbie, though, that's notable.
Still digging the book, though the last few issues have felt decidedly light.
If you don't mind vague spoilers, the covers for the issues through 50 are up on Ryan Ottley's website. Looking forward to where we're going.
I agree on the last few issues, but I just checked Ottley's website and
The cover for #50 has got my interest peaked again. I figured something big was in the cards, and I've been wondering if Mark working for the government was ever going to present him with more moral ambiguity than superheroes usually prefer. It's kind of an interesting and not often commented-upon theme: having a government-employed superhero without any dystopian angst. But looks like that's going to change . . .

I'm going to hold out hope for an interesting spin on this. On the one hand, crazy doctor asshole did butcher one of his friend, but on the other hand Invincible is one of the only books off hand I can think of where the government is so screwed being pragmatic about the crazy scientist who can build interesting weapons is a legitimate option.
This may be one of those rare cases where government dickery is right, and the gut reaction is wrong. Either way, anything that gets out of this build up funk is fine with me.

Yeah, but there's another cover with a swarm of those reanimen coming at Mark. I'm pretty sure that he's going to have a pretty good reason to come after Cecil.
Maybe in functionality, sure. (Training, power levels)
But I can't honestly say the two stories are alike in the slightest.
Viltrum and Planet Vegeta are planets of warriors so powerful that they get sent out to conquer other planets.
Omniman is like Goku and Vegeta because he was sent to Earth to conquer it, but instead fails at the mission and abandons it. Goku failed because he was good, Vegeta failed because a more powerful member of his race stopped him. Both became two of the most powerful of their race.
Omniman is like Goku because he has a halfbreed son that has the potential to be stronger than his father and has a heart of gold.
Debbie Grayson is like ChiChi in that they are both wives of the powerful warrior, and want their powerful sons to focus on schooling instead of adventuring.
I had some more to list but I forgot them, and it really was only at the early parts of the series
I read volume three last night for the first time and I immediately thought of Dragonball.
I like Dragonball so I don't have a problem with the comparisons which seemed pretty obvious to me.

I think the last few issues were a bit calmer because they had done another "good point to jump into things" type issue and then it takes a couple to build things up again.
Ottley had those covers at Comic-Con and I grabbed Fram and pointed and said "What the fuck."

Holy Shit! I just read the first 2 trades of Invincible and I wish I would have done it sooner. I don't know what it is but that book just flows so good.

Personally, I was a big fan of the garbage bag joke.
The garbage bag joke is what sold me on the serious. I was a bit up in the air (no pun intended) then I saw the panel with the randomly landing garbage bag and I said to myself, "Sold!".

I guess Nolan wasn't executed then...
This is what I get for only reading the trades.
it is sold out everywhere
They're waiting for him to heal so that he's worthy of execution.
But seriously... c'mon.
That's the first thing I thought.
Anally.

Like how William is always asking Mark to fly him around and Mark is like, "This is so gay."
My favourite one is how he always has to be called William. That is totally one of Kirkman's pet peeves. He hates being called Bob or Rob.
