Click on 3 for BGM and get ready to completely flip out when you recognize it!

Does this have any chance at all of coming overseas? I really like the concept to it. Gotta admit I'm not sure how well it would work in a portable sense though.

Considering that none of the earlier games in the series have been released outside Japan, I'd say the chance of this one making it is pretty low. Looks fun though.

    Apparently more like Monopoly.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itadaki_Street
Itadaki Street (いただきストリート) is a computer board game series originally created by Dragon Quest designer Yuji Horii and published by Enix (now known as Square Enix). The games are similar to Monopoly; players roll dice to advance around a board, purchase unowned property they land on and earn money when opponents land on the player's property. In addition, players can buy and sell stocks of a block, affecting the value of properties within it. Players can level up by collecting icons around the board and returning to the start position. Up to four players can compete to win each board.

It will be the first Mario-based game in more than a decade not published by Nintendo. It will be released in Japan only.

This game is going to take Japan by storm.

I can imagine it being the best selling Itadaki Street game ever.

I mean, Mario, and Dragon Quest? There is no better combo in Japan at the moment.

Just throw in some Haruhi or Lucky Star and you've got the ultimate tricombo.

The very fact that music from the game will be used again gives me hope that something, sometime, somewhere, will happen involving SM:RPG.

Did M&L: PiT do well? What about SPM? If either of those didn't do as well as they had hoped, and Nintendo feels they still want an RPG with Mario that people will remember.....well, what else is left? ;-)

They are. Square, however, legally owns everything from SMRPG that wasn't already in a Mario game beforehand. Thus, Geno, Mallow, and Smithy would legally be neither DQ or SM characters.

This is not actually true, and I'm so confused why so many people believe it. Nintendo owns the rights to everything involved in Super Mario RPG.

I don't know, maybe because in the credits of Mario and Luigi it says that Geno is copyright Square-Enix?

But... wasn't he a frog? :D he he. Fun game.

And I recently heard it never came out in Europe. That explains why the game I bought here in Italy had the american box + manual, japanese cartridge and worked (with a couple of resets) on a pal system. :D

It's a board game with characters from DQ and Mario as well as settings, gameplay elements, and character customization.

It's a really old franchise in Japan that Enix started way back in the day.

I wish it'd come out here, too. And I thought the same thing, wondering if Geno and Co. might put in an appearance.

In the meantime, does anyone have any of the Mario art from this game? I'm loving it, but find it constantly obstructed in scans and the like.
