Wait, the more expensive versions of the game will have early access to the actual release? Boooooooooooo!!!
On the other hand, it'll probably take at least 4 days for them to put out the server fires so I'm not sure how much early access those versions will get.

That's possible, but maybe the servers will be better before they're enduring the full brunt of the unwashed masses.
I have an exceedingly stupid question about Diablo 3, Season 28. I play on the PS5.
I created a seasonal character, and I’m right past the moment when Deckard Cain died in Act 1.
I can’t find that Altar of Rites! On the internet everyone is saying “it’s right above the inn!” and I see screenshots, but on the place where the altar is supposed to be is Myriam the Artisan with her stand. They also say that you can see an icon denoting the place of the altat, but on that spot is the purple swirly thing, but Myriam is there.
Have I done something wrong? Do I have to finish Act 1 first? Or the game?
EDIT: I platinumed D3 years ago, and maybe touched season 1 once or twice, so I have gotten all classes to 70 long ago, so I do not know what has been changed over all those years, but this Altar thing sounded interesting.
okay it's been a while since I played D2R. I know there were some changes coming, have they made druids better? Can I put points in poison creeper without it being a joke?

Druids have not received much love. Poison creeper is incredibly overpowered until halfway through act 2, then falls off a cliff. But, summon druid in general is better than years ago because you can summon all your woofs at once, and raven does some ok damage.
Fire druid is quite good due to the new runewords (flickering flame), and the removal of some shared cooldowns and things like that.
Neither will "compete" with the s-tiers, but you can comfortably finish hell and farm some stuff.
Zoo druid will carry you well into hell pretty easily as a starter. It will take a bit longer but it is really strong and so easy with no real gear requirements other than skill point scaling. You can then farm out the gear if you want to change to wind and do pit or stay zoo druid and do things like stony, swap chars etc. D2R opened up so many options for playing what you want to play. There are truly few really bad builds now. Even bowazon got love. As did Ass. Super strong now.
Spearzon is an incredibly good single target attacker. The problem is, of course, that that means it's good for ubers and nothing else at all in D2.
Assassin has always been great. It's a great starter, a solid A tier endgame build, has tons of pvp options, deals with immunities easily, can do absolutely all the content in the game, and has one of the more active playstyles using multiple skills. It's my favorite class and it's not close.
I should have known, when I was just getting the things I needed pretty easily on PC to get going on the season, that when I did it on the Switch it was going to hate me.
I probably made it worse on myself by picking Witch Doctor. It was just the only class I clearly hadn't played in awhile, as it was the only one that had a follower that wasn't equipped since the updates to them awhile back.
And oof. There's just not really a non-clunky build for them right now. Spirit Barrage has never been the same after the pet nerf, but boy howdy if your luck is bad with a Ring of Emptiness or Barber, ugh. Guess I'll just slog through T7's until the end of time.
EDIT: Whereas DH I basically accidentally'd myself to GR70 with no effort.
I just didn't want to play Necro or Monk for yet another season, and even though the spike trap build isn't my thing, GoD is always mindless easy seasonal fodder. Not sure what I'll do on PS5 when that finally gets delivered (moved to NZ, stuff has taken months to get here, but in theory it's a couple weeks out from actually getting to us), as I honestly don't remember what I've even leveled. I think I've only done DH and Necro on PS5. Maybe Crusader, they get Valor from Haedrig and Fist is a quick and easy season, that is pretty easy to gear.
I cleared a GR102 last night on my Wizard (solo). Still using the starter Typhon set.
I'm fairly certain I have all of the pieces collected to allow me to do a full transition to Tal Rasha Meteors. But I'm honestly not ready to leave Typhon yet. I haven't played D3 in many seasons. And this is new to me. So I'm going to keep it going for a while, even though I know Tal Rasha is supposed to be better.
Ya I think newer is better for staying interested. I’m playing Crusader this season, even though it’s “the worst”, because I never got around to playing the Aegis (FoH/HF) build and Crusader was my least played over the life of the game.
Crusader is my jam. I started a Barb because I've never played one to a high enough level. The season rewards are pretty nice! Having Fury do 2000% more damage per stack, and I have a unique item that gives me up to 10 stacks of Fury means I just chew through everyone. The only problem is that it takes 10 hits to get going lol.
I haven't played a Barb seasonally since... probably like season 4 or something. I have actually been thinking about making a Barb alt this season after I'm satisfied with my Wizard main.
I still feel like I'm a glass cannon but I'm still mostly specced to do as much damage as possible. I got to the end of a GR30 and the boss one shot me because my Fury stacks disappeared. But I'm not really good at developing my character correctly so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
I dove in this weekend, on the Playstation I played a Demon Hunter up to Paragon 250 and am nearly at the first potion I've seen recommended on the Altar. Got to GR 60, though of course the way shards are picked up on console has been wonky, and I'll be at like 1064, there's a stack on the ground, and yet it won't cap me out at 1100. Spent a bunch and was able to pick up the remainder. Hopefully that doesn't force me to go much higher just to unlock the next part of the path.
My girlfriend went with Necromancer again, and is struggling a little. She's approaching GR 40, but the free set this season just isn't clicking with her. Between running Rifts together and gambling shards she's getting up to 3-4 pieces of most of the others, so I think it'll just take a little work to get her set. She's not a fan of being straight up carried, so I'm trying to balance helping while avoiding dragging her into content where she just straight up does nothing and dies if anyone so much as sneezes at her.
On PC I fired up a Crusader, for similar reasons. Probably one of my least played classes (I didn't check to be sure, but off the cuff it's either that or Monk). Got up to level 40 or so, fairly rapidly. Removing item levels right off the bat really does speed things up a ton even if just running solo.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
It can be quite good, but it tends to feel bad until you have Band of Might. Setting that off with the freezing charge can give you a second to build the DR from the set bonus.
From there you threatening shout against elites, and eventually get RoRG and a supporting set like aughilds to further reduce damage taken.
A lot of guides will tell you to take the dmg rune on berserker, but the toughness one can hold you over when starting out.
The other sets can be quite tanky as well, that’s just what frenzy needs
My little Typhon Wizard is starting out nicely, and I’ve already gotten my first Primal (Tal Rasha pants) which is going into my Meteor Tal Rasha build once I’m ready for it.
Just need to build up more keys and the mats needed for unlocking the altar.
It can take awhile to get set pieces depending on luck and clearing ability. Another option is if you have been saving useful legendaries of each slot you could level up legacy of dreams and use that on a build around whatever legendaries you get to drop for you alt to buff up dmg on abilities and farm at the GR you can.
Edit: But remember gear is random so use what you can. For example i havent been playing hard but been playing and I still dont have a second set headpiece. Ive been throwing all my currency at haunted visions to make the beginner necro set work for a deep push but still havent got it. And my bane of the stricken still hasnt dropped so it is going to be one of the last gems i get heh.
Yeah, if you can get a Legacy of Dreams up to scratch, you can give a new character a legendary clown suit to level up with and start gambling for set pieces when you hit 70.
Man complain and you get like like 5 haunted visions in a couple of GRs. Now spending all my bloodshards on helmets and still no set helmet. Have blown like a couple hundred F Souls on rerolls too.
Yeah, my girlfriend is trying to manage essence and corpses and find items and skill combos that fit her playstyle, while at the same time I'm like 'fire my primary a few times to rev the engine, and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my way at Mach 11 through the enemies'.
A couple of lucky legendary drops certainly helped, but having the 6 piece alone is basically 'would you like to leap 4+ torment levels? Because you can...'

Finally got around to watching this video, which is a pretty good glimpse into the open world, what they were thinking, things to do, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcQ-JcYMyZ0
and there's another dev update tomorrow at 11 PST on the Diablo Twitch channel
I always kinda liked light source as a stat in Diablo 1.
And then years later found out that it was also tied to aggro range, helping explain those giant 'fight half the level at once' brawls I was in, and how throwing on -radius cursed items basically turned it into a stealth game.

2nd silly question: do I actually need to do the story, or can I just hop around in Adventure mode?
Now when he says to make a necro to 18 to get unlocks and swap to main character you dont have to do that its just much easier to do on necro.

One option is blood shards. Get them on your main, spend them on your alt once they're level 70.
Not sure where the breakpoint is that it's better to just play your alt.

Just find some +1 to Light Radius gear

And nothing is so annoying as a dark game being released in sunny summer so that I have to close all the curtains in order to see something…
