Crusader was painful to mostly solo my way to 70. It could have been worse, but contrasted with my usual Witch Doctor/Necromancer/Barbarian/Demon Hunter experience, it wasn't great.
Then I got 2 piece Valor. Okay, I can work with this.
Then I got 4 piece and 6 piece and whelp now I control a whole array of artillery options.
Call me an orbital drop shock troop and let me point space based weaponry at anything that looks at me funny. Just about to unlock the 1100 shard point of the tree, which is still early, but I hope to get some real progress on both platforms this weekend.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
Ya, Aegis is pretty nice! I went Crusader this time to try it out. Full shotgun mode can be kinda clunky at times but still good. I want to try leaning into Fist instead
After about 20 minutes of trying to figure out the difference in the editions, I ended up getting the $20 up sell version. I figured I’d be getting the battlepass either way, and the 4 days early means it’s like a cup of coffee a day. I figure I can always refund and switch later if it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to use those days anyways.
I just gambled up the hungering arrow quiver and wow does that make a world of difference on a 4-piece GoD. Like shaved off 5+ minutes on the grifts I was running difference. Just managed to get my GR20 in before the kids came home, last one I needed for that part of the journey. Looking forward to jumping up a bunch of torments with the the 6-piece
The time I spent hunting down Chiltara paid off. I was able to complete all of the Altar except the last potion power, and that's only because I just haven't run across that many primals yet.
I think they are trying to make a slower game than D3 ended up evolving into, but I have a pretty strong feeling that I, personally, am not interested in taking down-time in a Diablo to mine ore and gather herbs to craft potions - and elixirs, which give you XP? And a buff? That sounds like one of those things that probably doesn't make too much difference in practice, but that would grate on me: "You're not being optimal, you're missing XP, you're missing a power-up".
Mostly, that's just a game loop that I am not looking for from a Diablo. I suspect I'm not their target audience, though, because I've come to realize that D3 is the perfect "easy-listening" power fantasy that I want from this type of game. It's good that folks who wanted the darker, slower, more intricate, and lower-power Diablo get to have another one, but it's not sounding like it's for me.
I got 2 ramaldani’s and 2 petrified screams really early. Like…. really early. Probably < paragon 60. Haven’t seen anymore since then and I’m ~700 now.

Also have only seen one primal.
Primals are one of those things where you rarely see them and when you do its always useless trash. Its what amused me to get double primal drops you have to shard 3 of them.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

amazingly my first primal from gr70 this season was pretty solid, Int rolled Frostburns with cc/cd
in a semi-shitfit LoD witchdoctor abusing the Spirit Barrage/Manitou uniques for pretty smooth sailing. (the interaction between Gazing Demise and The Barber feels broken hilarious)
it's been raining usable ancients and i've already gotten 3 Unitys and a shortmans finger.
could have been better, but could have been a lot worse ;p
Paths of Exiled - (waffenheimer)

So i played a lot of D3 before seasons were a thing and haven't touched it in years. Came back this season to check it out with all the D4 news landing. Anywho, boy has there been all kinds of player power inflation. I'm pretty sure my 58 wizard is better geared than my WD main back then was for months at 60. I do with the set was not a hydra related one but I'll take lololol 4000 % damage increase.
I think this is the fastest I’ve completed a season
And yeah it’s super easy to gear this season thanks to the Altar.

The open beta for d4 will either sell me or keep me away. Right now I'm not really looking at it as a game in the short term. Perhaps it will be one of those in a yrs time things.

Not a game in the short term?? What are you hoping to see, or rather, thinking won’t be there?
If your concern is endgame, that’s fair, and I wish I could elaborate. I’m kinda surprised they’ve stayed so quiet about it even now, and think it could come to be a mistake. If (when) the complaints come in that the game is shallow because people played a tiny bit of it, finally talking about endgame could appear to be damage control, and some will have already made up their minds.
One thing about waiting to buy/play a game like this is that, at least historically, you're almost guaranteed to play a better game than the one available at release.
Even now, if you play D3 in campaign mode, it is a substantially different experience from playing in adventure mode.
I bring this up, because the beta for D4 is just the first chunk of game in story mode. Which is certainly going to be much different and probably a whole lot slower paced, than anything that they have planned for endgame. It's fine to judge the game based on the campaign, story, graphics, and general feel. But you can't really fairly judge it on endgame potential when they're level capping the beta and also content capping.
I haven't played any of the closed betas, so I don't know anything at all about the game except from screenshots, preview videos, and so forth. But if it's anything like D3, leveling a character from 1-70 and following the slow skill progression is going to feel substantially different from endgame where you're working on a "build."
Generally speaking, for campaign mode in any of the Diablo games, the concept of a build really doesn't exist. You just use whatever you've got and place your points in whatever seems cool.
The beta is mostly for me to figure out if I can PVP at level 9 as a bear druid with six shael runes in a staff. D4 better let me stunlock people in the dumbest way possible.
I suspect PvP to die out quick unless they change their mind about balancing for it. Which would be a waste of time and resources for a Diablo game, so hopefully they just let it linger.

The most important thing that D4 needs to improve from D3 is not having my character (and followers, if there are any) constantly yapping about every gameplay event (kill streaks, elite appearances, elite kills, etc.). That shit wears thin very fast in a game you're meant to play for hundreds of hours. Just shut up already.

I've been playing D3 on almost-muted with podcasts or youtube essays or twitch streams playing forever anyway so I haven't paid attention to that stuff in yeeears
On XBox I turn off the character voices and music, turn the volume down, and just play songs from Lord of the Rings or Monster Hunter off Spotify.
(I have a little volume though, don't wanna miss treasure goblins giggling)
I hope the D4 music is better, to me the stuff in D3 ranges from mainly bad to unmemorable and has a bunch of weird volume mixing, looking at you cursed chest theme.

There are no followers as of now as far as I know, so there's that.

Every primal after that was trash though.
On console, I think it's Left Arrow.

Edit: Meant level 12, so I can get maul.
On a related note, I am so fucking confused how they decided to make their MOBA out of Star Craft 2's engine instead of Diablo 3's.
