Do you like fishing mini-games?
Personally I'm not a fan, because while other mini-game/collectible stuff can usually be done on your way to the next Zelda Shard or what have you, fishing games always require you to
stop and wait for an RNG to put something on the hook and then do what is basically a quick-time event to reel the thing in, and then most of the time oops it's another Poop Carp, better go buy some more bait so you can try again ya dumb bastard.
But video games aren't all about me (yet...) and a ton of them have fishing mini-games in them, so I guess
someone must be enjoying them.

if I wanted to fish in a game I would have bought a fishing game
the playing of a fishing mini game is a lot like eating an orange

The ones I don’t like are the ones where you need to have perfect timing and/or vision just to start
Stardew Valley, Nier: Automata, and FFXV are some I recall enjoying. Also RDR2 and Far Cry 5.
I do not enjoy the ones in Hades (split-second timing required, and watch the bobber animation closely) or Graveyard Keeper (you basically have to ignore the animation and listen for a sound cue instead)
-Indiana Solo, runner of blades
Orange peels, nature's leaves.
Now, when I have too many games and not enough time? It better be quick.
PSN / Xbox / NNID: Fodder185
Why haven't any of these video have protagonists heard of nets
I make an exception for Stardew Valley because sometimes you fish up treasure chests, and can also use set-and-forget crab pots
Cooking is another factor.
Is peeling an orange a metaphor in the sense of: this action can be seen as an impediment or necessary tedium on the way to the fish (zomg autocorrect, what a perfect typo for 'goal' !!!), or can be a pleasurable experience in itself (esp if done mindfully)? If so, sure.
WoW's fishing was bad, FFXIV's fishing is good, Genshin Impact's fishing is good.
i love all fishing minigames and i have no idea why.
But weirdly a game focused on fishing sounds kinda alright? Haven't made the time for them, I know they're out there though.
if it is the main game, absolutely worthless to me. i would like a miniature game wherein i catch fish and it is not important.
i would like to wait a bit and then press A, or wiggle a stick or mouse around, or tap only at key times.

@Wingo had the right idea
I played Final Fantasy 15 and only ever tried the fishing once.
I like them because at their worst they're some of what's compelling about Videogames Loot RNG but without the whole surrounding skinner box to make me feel uncomfortably motivated to do it 10,000 times. Then when it's pretty alright, I do play it a bunch.

What show is this? I’ve never seen it before
Uh huh
But seriously is there a reason there’s so many fishing mini games?
Also fuck the epic, bored-tears-inducing “fishing quests” to get like 1 ingredient/material to forge the ultimate weapon in the game, I hate that shit
And you better give me real rewards for them.
If it's a fishing game and the only rewards are more items specifically for fishing then I'm out.
I want meaningful rewards for all my mini-games!
Yeah this
So yeah, gimme those digital fish.
Fishing is good.
WoW, Hades, Zelda, Pokemon (sort of?), some are done better than others but it's something I dig
Is this by the guys that did Family Guy?
Family what? Are these some ancient boomer shows or something?
Jesus Christ
Yes
The Thompsons!
Those lovable scamps who live in a house boat on Terror Lake.
Like, I enjoy the activity but I don't really want a lot of fish around, that's gross. And I've no like, frame of reference for what fish are, for the most part.
