God, Sunday night is the consistently worst broadcast
First you’ve got Tweedledee and Tweedledum saying unrelated bullshit over what’s happening on the field, then you’ve got that godawful shitkicker theme song, and finally they go to commercial more often than any of the daytime broadcasts.
Just take sports away from NBC as a whole. They’re stuck in the past and they suck.

That bit is a parody of what was new(ish) at the time. Monday Night Football began using Hank Williams Jr for their opening theme and it was considered goofy. So they wrote a song in the same vein and got Bill Medley to sing it for the movie. Now, every X Night Football has to have some kind of intro song because reasons. They all pretty much suck and they're all interchangeable.
