Good news, I'm working from home so I can answer that question for you. Full disclosure I'm from the UK but it looks like the most searched porn category in Utah is.....Mormon?
That's a thing?
I'm pretty sure I can't link to the actual site because y'know it's an adult site and I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Or jailed.

so imgur is going to kill using them as a host to hyperlink images. how much of the historical forums do you think we are going to lose in that bloodbath?

Dogshit change to Discord incoming. Get ready to be forced into changing your discord name if someone had the same one before you! And I hope you didn't rely on that layer of privacy!

I’m not seeing the privacy implications. The thing that’s changing is the background identifier name, it can be set to whatever you want that’s unique. Server display names are remaining non-unique and unchanged as far as they state in the blog. It’ll be a lot like it is now where you choose an account name, then you set whatever you want on the server.
What’s the concern here?
speaking as someone who has a handle that is often already taken on services, the discriminator random numbers are SO MUCH a better solution than having to manually try handle variations until you find one that isn't taken and I hate this change
is that twitter account someone associated with discord or just trolling

Remember when Discord refused to sell to Microsoft for like ten billion?
Going to be fun watching them try to pivot into being a more all inclusive social media platform

I mean yeah, I can’t get this name anywhere.
I’m probably going to either just rename my account to the current one with the “discriminator” as part of the name itself, or match with my Blizzard handle with its discriminator so it’s the same in more than one place.
The way I see this change is that when they were developing the backend they didn’t care about special characters or how much hell that raises long-term and now they want to try and plaster over that initial mistake. The reason about people forgetting the discriminator is a little thin to me though. Someone who cares enough to tell a friend their Discord name in meatspace almost certainly has the app on their phone they can take out and check, right? The name is right there any time.
Me: wtf, my wireless mouse is freaking out, moving all over the place clicking on stuff!
Other guy at the desk isle: Oh, I'm also having mouse problems today, mine isn't doing anything at all!
Both:...oh

For people with an established online presence, people might guess their Discord name under the new system and use it to send spam messages.
Even if private messages can only be sent to friends, shitty people can still send harassment through friend requests from accounts with shitty usernames.

and thus the cycle of change repeats again
