Are there still folks running Prophecy on a regular basis? I haven't done it but would like to go through it with people that know what they are doing.
I still haven't done it. Find one more and we're on our way.
Maybe wait for Tuesday so if there's a Triumph that doesn't back-date itself it'll count.
I'm in if you guys are interested; I haven't done it at all, so it'll be totally fresh content. Tuesday works for me.
Weekend is over. What time zones you folks in? I can do basically any evening EST this week except, maybe, Tuesday. Or next Saturday evening or any time Sunday.
Weeknights tend to be difficult for me to wrangle gaming time into so weekends are better (pretty much whenever). I'm on Mountain time.
Sunday? Maybe mid afternoon? 1500 Mountain? That work for you, Dingo? I assume we can all play together with whatever cross play wizardry is afoot these days.
I suppose I should start doing the current season events now. Is there a guide or something for the thing... ("astral alignment"??) that we are supposed to have been doing for the last several weeks? I've pretty much given up on the Splicer title. I did the math and I would need to run that event 45 more times to get there, and honestly, I just don't want to.
It will be interesting to see if that locks me out of the yearly title as well. (I've never gotten one yet.)
Or different theory, they got permission to do halo stuff but didn't want to do 1 to 1 copies in the game for a variety of reasons
Maybe. I feel like we'd get a set of spartan themed armor to go with it, and a little more obvious names for them. The pistol is almost 1:1 aside from the handle guard, and the BR is almost the same but slightly different stock and color
doing it this way also means they don't need to negotiate a licensing agreement to use assets/names from someone else's IP. they can get away from calling the side arm "Forerunner" as a nod, and it looks like they changed the BRs name just enough too.
Easy answer: they didn't want to do one to one copies for asthetic reasons. The artists didn't want to spend time doing literal copies of existing assets. Armor Would have been too on the nose, out might not have been part of the agreement.
Launching straight into they're going to get sued is just wacky
They'd be using guns from an IP they don't have the rights to. Think about it, if it was a Halo cross promotional thing don't you think they'd advertise it as such?
The artists do what the bosses tell them to do, though.
I'm also coming from primarily a fighting game point of view where guest characters are....well, the actual characters. So that's why I assume if the actual gun or armor isn't here, it's because it's not allowed to be.
Like, honestly, do you think a knock off would be more hype than the actual weapons?
I actually think Bungie has done a GREAT job in referencing the Halo weapons (the two swords each being half of the sword from Halo is great, for example) for what it's worth.

I'm assuming talks fell through because Xbox would want that stuff to be exclusive for Xbox and Windows store folks, and Bungie promised no more console exclusive stuff.
I think speculating to this degree in exactly what happened behind the scenes is honestly a waste of time, until we get confirmation either way.
Anyway, I'm going to bow out of this part of the discussion.

Read through the patch notes. Lighter touch than I expected, honestly. My beloved storm grenade got.. a 9s base increase in it's charge time. No changes to it's damage
Duskfield has entirely lost it's vacuum, but got a spicy buff of being a base 60s~ cooldown, making it one the fastest recharging grenades in the game, and probably a very handsome area denial tool in pvp.
Fusions also recharge a lot faster now, so expect some burning wake shenanigans
In general it looks like most changes are all about cutting the amount of ability Regen floating about, and taking the cooldowns a bit higher. Solar grenades in general seem to be the most reworked & tweaked
Looks like no one hit kos on anything but hunter, and Hunters has a crazy cooldown.
That said, a lot of the grenades have been barely touched damage wise, so a lot of hte not quite one hit kos but will absolutely fuck people up if they dont move/have been winged are still there
Edit: Apparently titans still have Incendiaries which a 1hk0, according to reddit? So it's only warlock missing a 1hk0 ability, and honestly, given our grenades in general didnt get too badly dented (I'm actually real curious about the buffed Axiom!) I think we're fine. Plus, we just dont know what's happen with Void 2.0, so i suspect that's why Void grenades are mostly cooldown increases and not a huge amount of changes.
Best patch note in there though is this:
"Fixed an issue where Telesto's bolts would sometimes persist after detonating, allowing them to detonate again. This is the last we will be hearing about Telesto for sure. "
Titans can still OHKO through Middle tree solar with Roaring Flames, or using Heart of Inmost light with some grenades
Yeah, thisi s just looking at stuff that OHKOs with no outside buffs. In general, it all looks pretty reasonable! I was honestly expecting more, and would have been fine with more. Be really interesting to see how everything shakes out in practice.
I'm assuming talks fell through because Xbox would want that stuff to be exclusive for Xbox and Windows store folks, and Bungie promised no more console exclusive stuff.
i don't think MS would push for exclusivity. they've been good about allowing their IP to be used on other platforms when it makes sense, see Smash Bros. i think its more likely that Bungie just wanted to go the referential route over a proper licensing agreement in order to avoid any complications or limits on use.
Other than a few particular cases, there are a lot of cooldown increases across the board for both PvP and PvE. The PvP side of me is disappointed because I actually really love abilities in PvP. It's why I play Destiny and not other PvP games. And a lot of this hurts PvE too. An extra 15% damage is a poor tradeoff for the longer cooldowns with a lot of these grenades.
Remember that massive leak that nailed every item about Witch Queen and even this expansion? That same leak also discussed Halo items being in part of the 30th anniversary and said Bungie wanted the Halo CE Magnum. The actual gun.
I have no issue with what they did and am happy with it all, but if that leak nailed so many other things....I can use it to assume they couldn't make the deal happen.
There's nothing wrong with that and, if anything, it allowed them to be a bit creative. As Wraith even hinted at, it avoids an issue for if the gun(s) become iconic / amazing and we never want to lose them....well, they're not really Halo weapons now, sooo.....

that's just the base cooldown though right? they've said you'll get more ability/super energy from engaging in combat, so that should mean faster abilities in PvE. or was the extra energy from damage done/taken just a PvP thing?
Super yes, abilities I don't think so. You have to spec into it.
Which, cool! But neutral specs for Recov/Mobility likely still going to reign supreme until they make something else more viable. With both the hit to base cooldowns and the hit to any gear/mods to reduce cooldowns, folks will gravitate to Always-On still
I am still waiting for more reasons for Resilience, Bungo.
watching a stream and pro-tip, don't go to orbit after you finish the new matchmade activity. it'll load you into the treasure room after the post-game countdown.
Also, the changes to Gamblers dodge make the reload dodge more appealing to me. I only skimmed the patch notes but, Bakris didn't get touched right? Because it's gonna be hard for me to give that up...
I may have overlooked this but if super regen is tiered by the type of super it is plus dealing/taking damage, is intellect still decreasing the time supers regen albeit by less than before?

Sure, there are combos, I more meant out of the box seemed wierd to not have 1 for each class.
Ashen Wake not getting hit seems like an oversight. Though you may need to prep with more damage before the first nade? Seems worth taking for a spin.
