Seems fun. I am surprised but happy they are pulling on this story thread. I expected Calus back given last season and Vox Obscura. But tying in the Nightmares is good shit. Those have been forgotten for like two and a half years at this point.
Yeah, like i said in my spoiler-box guess up above, it just makes sense to give the Moon some time this year as Shadowkeep's likely next in line for the Content Vault. And with what we learned about the Darkness in WQ, it makes sense to give the Nightmares another pass not to mention the Pyramid there. Especially now that we've got actual Pyramid-interior maps to fight in. I will admit though that I didn't see the Calus part of the story being added in.

Yeah, having a world-eater that close to Earth isn't a happy thought.
Warlocks got a new melee to go with their new ability from void 3.0
Whereas it like hunters got another dive reskin.

I had a great time with old Solar as a Warlock - had that build where your melee is a fireball, combined with the exotic hands that makes your melee poisonous. And Monte Carlo (refunds your melee really really fast).

the real problem with nightstalker 3.0 is that the 3 aspects are just 3 different ways to go invisible. it's just kinda boring and more or less a straight downgrade from old bottom tree in all aspects but the super. obviously the super is way better so on net the class is probably better but it's just a shame.
So I started doing the GMs on Tuesday to gild the conqueror title, and got done on Sunday. Here’s how I fared (I’d say “we” but those were different teams), failed attempts in red and success in green. Strikes in order they were attempted.
So we have to at least try a trials team of void hunter, void Titan, solar lock. Throw down a shield barricade, Omni smoke and warlock regen heal nades and push with invis, damage reduction, overshield and health regen that isn’t interrupted
It probably won’t work but I need to experience it
So does anyone else still have their guardian games halo in the tower and HELM? I've tried changing helms, turning them off and back on...still have the laurel head halo.
Annoying.

Interesting stuff so far. I wish the corrupted Leviathan area had a map though.

Yeah, I just remember that from the main containment area a tunnel heading up is pools and down is gardens.
I just started playing destiny 6 weeks ago and I hit soft cap last season. I watched several videos on getting to hardcap but an efficient way eludes me. Last season I got stuck at 1552. So if anyone has any tips.

Not sure I'm enjoying solar warlock very much.
While it's nice to casually have Icarus Dash and the scorch mechanic does good single target damage, I am really missing having kills with the super extend the super.
The other awkward thing I have found is that there's a problem with the "ignite" mechanic? I suspect the fragment of ignite kills generating grenade energy is outright broken.
That, or the work needed to ignite an enemy normally winds up killing both it and everything around it, meaning the ignite itself isn't killing anything and so the fragment is essentially useless. Kind of wish burning enemies just automatically ignite when they die like they used to.
If you're going to re-use content, this is how you do it. It's the Leviathan assets, but a lot of work obviously went into it. Obviously is the important part, psychologically.
There are more weapons than I was expecting. Leviathan is basically a new patrol area, so I'll call the menagerie destination weapons, the haunted weapons, new world drop weapons (!!), the new dungeon weapons (including a crazy 3 burst LFR), and of course new Iron Banner and Trials weapons. It's more than I was expecting for a season and so I have to give props where it's due. The dungeon weapons also look pretty good.
A patrol area is different than just an activity.
Cons for me so far.
So far, the public event is very meh to me. It takes awhile and the enemies are spongey. It may be due to power levels, though.
It's also irritating because they have two different options to enter it, one for exploration and one for the event, but it's described in paragraph form (meaning stupid people won't read) and they're identical anyways so people can still wander off and do everything you could in the exploration one and not help with the event. I think it's helping a little in terms of more people doing the event, but usually after a run or two, people wander off due to opulent keys / whatever and I just have to leave and re-queu.
Unsure for me so far.
Solar 3.0. It just seems kind of eh so far? I dunno. I am giving this time.
Glykon 2.0 (Sever). Ehh. But the lore is happily received?

Have to knock out those pinnacles as often as you can, and on 3 characters if you have the time. Most of the good ones are non-matchmade (Raid, Dungeon etc) so you'll need a fireteam. Luckily we have a very active set of folks on the Discord who should be able to help you out!

Solar Warlock seems like it was gutted. The entire subclass was sacrificed on the altar of PvP.
Top-Tree Dawnblade was split into 2 aspects, which means there's only 1 aspect left for literally the entire rest of the subclass and said aspect is ok I guess but also really boring. The grenade buff aspect is the only choice for PvE and the other two options are either pointless (Icarus Dash) or actively anti-synergistic (Heat Rises). Basically, to keep TTD in the game as is they had to remove all other options from solar warlocks. And airplay in PvE, especially high-end PvE, is asking to die.
Icarus Dash as an aspect means Phoenix Dive now has to be a class ability, which means insanely long cooldown and losing access to your rift, so it's functionally dead in almost all content. And the only way to give it extra utility is to use Heat Rises first, which is again anti-synergistic with the only PvE aspect solar warlocks have, so that's just not gonna work.
In a similar vein Heat Rises as an aspect also meant they had to remove eating a grenade to make it heal, so now support warlock loses the ability to choose between damage and healing at need. You have to lock yourself in to only one option.
On top of all that, there's the scorch/ignite issue you mention. From what I can tell it's not bugged, it's just super poorly designed. To get something to Ignite, you need to hit 100 stacks of Scorch. (ala Slow/Freeze with Stasis) But this explicitly only happens if they hit 100 stacks and not if they die with Scorch on them. And it's really hard to apply 100 Scorch and even harder to do so without killing the enemy first. Which means Ignite basically never procs.
The above means the entire ability regen build that's supposed to run through Ember of Blistering (Ignite gives you grenade regen) doesn't work and so the only PvE aspect you have doesn't get to come into play more. And since Benevolent Dawn ate a nerf you can't really have high uptime on abilities like Well Warlock used to get.
It's actually worse then Void 3.0 Hunter, which was mostly just one-note. It doesn't seem to actually work together and the two air-play aspects are almost useless in anything but PvP. Basically all the playstyles that weren't top-tree dawnblade had to be gutted so that toe-tree dawnblade could exist unchanged.
Maybe there's some secret sauce here people are missing but so far the reaction I'm seeing is overwhelmingly negative.
I wish Leviathan was a bit bigger for patrol, but it's neat.

Honestly I think I might enjoy solar warlock a bit more, once I drop the mindset of igniting smaller enemies.
The grenade aspect and the double-explosion fusion grenades makes for a guaranteed ignite on big targets, at least. That's been real fun to use.
I kind of wonder if anyone has done the math yet on how much the solar super does single target now, with how many ignites it can make happen. That one exotic helm (I am forgetting the name, it looks like a bug helmet?) now makes more scorch stacks happen as well, and between that the the improved scorch fragment you can make a good handful of explosions happen on a boss.
Ignite seems to only really be useful on tougher targets. Whether it is good enough / intended as such, I dunno, but Shryke's analysis is accurate. Void can eradicate red bars, but Solar....
I don't know the DPS numbers on it. Maybe it'll be more useful in something like a Grandmaster or a Master Dungeon / Raid where stuff isn't insta-deleted? Unsure. That's the only reason I haven't shit on it yet.
I am not using my Titan yet due to Pinnacle grind and wanting to do him last, but the re-used Stasis melee with a ground slam added in at the end seems good / fun, but I am hearing it's super temperamental (whereas the Void shield charge just explodes everything).
Solar 3.0 definitely feels like it has less options than the prior trees, though. The fragments also seem boring, which is probably the worst part.

My half asleep out of it hot take is I had no idea what was going on in the intro mission and having me run around without enemies then the first fight just run away was… boring?
Warlock solar seems like it could be super fun in 6s but I was getting wrecked in glory.
Did invis get a secret buff? Invis hunter was literally impossible for me to see last night and I normally don’t have that issue. Could be that he wasn’t using a special weapon so I never saw the big weapon glint?

i hope blade barrage is good, i'd love to be able to use shards of galanor and actually do meaningful damage in real content
You haven't coded those weapons to work for shit, stop making them the only choice.
