A friend has an old computer that has Windows ME (I know) on it. He bought a new modem since he thought his gave out. I put it in for him and installed the drivers that came on the CD, but when you restart is says "HSF_CNXT.sys" is missing. I've been looking far and wide for a solution but the only thing I get is that it's a modem driver. What's the deal with this? How do I repair this file or add it or whatever. Is it stored somewhere else or called something else? Hopefully someone can help me out. Thank you.
Any hardware he bought recently is liable to have no driver that will work under Windows Me. What he's seeing is perhaps a result of a botched install process, as in the installation of the driver failed silently when it saw the OS version was incompatible.
Sounds like Conexant, does he have a dialup modem setup at all?
If not then he can safely delete any modem stuff in his networking settings, which will probably get rid of the window from appearing. (sorry, my knowledge of the 9x series is a bit rusty.. not really used it in a few years)
EDIT: Forget that, just reread the post.
Is it an internal pci modem or an external serial modem? (or even a usb modem)
If it's a serial modem he can simply use some generic 56k modem driver.

The modem is PCI. The box listed ME under what was supported. He recently ordered a new computer so I guess he's not to worried about it (which makes me not worried about it). Thanks for the replies.
