Yeah the rich Middle Eastern countries are looking to buy into pretty much everything. A Qatar sheik is looking to buy soccer club Manchester United and Saudi Arabia upped their stake in Nintendo. Not to mention their LIV Golf series that is poaching players from PGA. Part of their goals to rule the world divest from oil as much as possible.
Man,i love Giannis. All we do is complain about players who are assholes, bigots, demanding trades, or load managing, and this motherfucker is out here playing the 12th man white guy hype boy assist coach role for the fucking celebrity all star game.
Every other player out here is too much of a big deal for regular season rivalry matchups on tntn and Giannis is like "bitch, i aint too cool for shit! Gimme dem smoovies!"
Only 25 and his knee's already completely ruined to the point he's missed basically two full seasons in a row (and he had more, albeit minor compared to this, issues with it still resulting in significant missed games 3 of the other 4 seasons he was in the league for). I genuinely doubt he ever plays again

Steve Kerr had some recent comments about how AAU being counterproductive to teaching the game and it seems its also running young players into the ground.

I've also heard him talk about how this over specialization is producing less well-rounded athletes. Other sports teach complementary skills and kids are missing out on these development opportunities along with accelerating the wear from so much straight basketball.
Ultimately I'm not sure the value of playing basketball at an extreme level when you're like, seven. What skills or muscle memory are you going to learn as a seven year old are going to hold up when your body is a completely different size when you're a teenager, even? I mean, it's one thing to play for fun, but what's the value here? It's like trying to make a twelve year old learn to throw a curveball when there are professional baseball players who learn how to do that for the first time when they're in their twenties

Yeah I think it makes plenty of sense to hold off specializing till high school. Basketball is far from the only sport to have this problem. I can spot a dude the spent his entire childhood training for wrestling from a mile away.

I’ve told this story before but it’s good
When I was 13, I had already hit my max height of 6’1” (where I am today) so I was put in with the bigs in bball camp
Now, I was in a camp with a wide age range, including upper class high schoolers
One of whom was 6’7” Mike Rupp, one year before being drafted into the NHL as an enforcer
Knowing I was overmatched, the coaches told me to try to fart when boxing him out and trying to out rebound him, to create an element of surprise
I wasn’t able to pull the maneuver off, which is good, because farting while jumping often results in hard gas

Yeah, I was a very effective inside player and rebounder…against normal height guys that I played against

To make daddy's early retirement dreams come true.
I always like the question of "if you were to extrapolate you skills to NBA level, which baller would you be?"
I always think of myself as Boris Diaw, Kelly Olynyk, Domatas Sabonis, Alperen Sengun type. A bit of post, a bit of passing, a bit of shooting, and generally kind of off-kilter timing craftiness.
Before my back surgeries, i would have been more like a Kenneth Faried, Montrez Harrell type, with maybe a bit more tilt towards rebounding and defense.

As much as I hate Daddy Ball I find myself liking his sons.
Except LiAngelo. He seems kind of like a prick
I don't even mind Lavar anymore since as soon as his sons got into the league in some form, he shut the fuck up. He advocated for them as much as he could and then let them do their thing.
Liangelo had his stealing thing in China but I don't think he's done anything shitty since then. Just chilling on the Hornets G-League team.
LaMelo has been great. He got ejected for complaining to the refs but he was pretty level headed in his post game interview about it.

LaVar Ball was also a total dick to a woman referee for no reason. After receiving a technical foul when coaching his AAU team he threatened to have his team walk off the court and then did make his players quit the game after he got another tech and was ejected. After the game he told the media the referee was unqualified, trying to break her ceiling, and had a vendetta against him despite them having no actual history and her being a highly experienced NCAA official. He also didn't shut up as soon as his sons got into the league considering he told media that Lonzo wouldn't play for the Pelicans if LA were to trade him there. It wasn't till after that he quieted down.

I was more of a Bob Cousy, since like me he also couldn’t dribble with both hands

I just want the Knicks to get their Steve Cohen.
If football doesn't work out...
Dame probably asking Jody Allen, "Can we borrow DK for the remainder of the Season?"

I keep seeing the post and it makes me really wish I’d used something other than, “Daddy Ball”

Yeah what extrapolates from "can sometimes make it with no one guarding me"?
Yeah, earlier in the season he was on fire but he's not been as good lately and tonight was dire.
His nickname is red velvet, I believe.
That's me
That was my thought, but Pat Bev isn't completely useless. Nobody has ever said, "He's like a bowling ball out there!"
I'm a better hockey player than basketball
And now, thanks to McClure, the "White Men Can't jump" remake can fuckin die in goddamned fire and leave the OG classic as is!
Slow mo was holy shit.
