DYING LIGHT 2: I'm enjoying it so far. It is more of the first game but definitely better. Even the story, which is about as obvious as you can get, is better than the first one. It also looks a lot better than the first and you can tell the game is much more dense.
. . .there are bugs though, and they are annoying bugs moreso than game breaking so far (graphical lighting bugs for example). Also - the choice to have a new character and a new voice actor yet make the voice actor sound exactly the same as the original is. . .an odd one. I'm legit thinking this is intentional (for story purposes) because it is so fucking obvious.
Other than that. . .more of the same. So if you liked DL1, you're really going to like DL2 I'd imagine (I couldn't get through the first one because the story was just there and the combat wasn't fun - you'd clear out an area cleverly and efficiently so that you can get to that Police Car, only to have the game spawn more enemies. And the enemies weren't even fun to fight one-on-one; much more incentivized to do that hear and - knock on wood - I haven't experienced respawning enemies yet).
Being better than 1's story is not a high bar to clear. There was a cut scene where the primary villain shouted your last name a la Kirk shouting "KHAAAAAN!" after all.
Hopefully the improved quality keeps up. It's high on my wishlist but I'm also inclined to wait for a sale just given the amount of updates and content that were added to the first game.
Feeling real good about springing for the premium version
It's a pretty meagre discount, but target is going to do their 'buy a gift card, get 15% of a second" deal next week. 7.5% off isn't a lot, but it'd at least cover tax. Most of the tax. Some of the tax.
The C&C remaster is so impressive, usually remasters are more or less cash grabs but C&C Remastered is more like a love letter to a bygone era.
When I first booted it up jumped into the first level of the Soviet Red Alert map it was like I was 8 again. The game looked exactly like I remembered...and then I hit space bar and jesus they did a ton of work making the game look great. They also great job of modernizing it while keeping the core gameplay the same. I think they even left in some exploits because its the only way (easiest way?) to beat some of the harder levels.
So there I was, minding my own business, getting actual work done (on a Friday, no less), with rebroadcast of Team USA's mixed doubles curling match against Sweden going as background noise on my other PC, when a message from @Jragghen popped up, reminding that no one is safe from Steam thread Classassins. No one.
Thanks for Iron Harvest. A Steampunk RTS thing looks like it's exactly my style.
Holy crap that is a lot of games I want but it has to be in February when I'm broke and fighting my wife's boss for a W2 he doesn't want to provide (because last year we got him fined for not giving it to us so this year he's going to show us what for by not giving it even harder).

My copy of Plague Inc. gifted to me left me no choice except to burn through every possible disease and now I’m plotting mega brutal runs once I get all the genes unlocked. In other news I finally have a grasp of Projecr Zomboid and have now reached 3 days of survival with an actual potential shelter forming!

Alright, so I think I've had enough of Dying Light 2 right now. It just shouldn't have been released in this state. After a good start last night, the games wart and now just popping up all over the body of the game: game won't save controller preference (so I've got KB&M prompts instead of controller); grabbing enemies for a takedown causes them to turn around and lunge at me (alerting other enemies around them) - and then they die afterwards because that's how the takedown is meant to work; restarting the game or reloading or dying puts you in different parts of the map instead of either the closest safe house or where you quit the game, and if you are at night this might cause you to have less immunity (a timer on how long you can stay outside) than you should; the settings menu lists the wrong description for what the settings do; your main character will randomly just get stuck on something and not able to move forward (looking down at your feet will sometimes show that your foot is clipping through the terrain so I'm guessing that's the issue); using DX12 increases performance (for me at least) but introduces wild graphical artifacts when indoors; if you die during combat the combat music will continue playing until you resolve ANY combat situation. There are just the issues that I've experienced in the last few hours of play and that are not one off issues. Other stuff pops up (like your character changing out of the outfits after a reload) aren't major and don't impact gameplay or immersion but it they are out there.
. . .this honestly blows because underneath is actually a good game that does seem to have made some good improvements to the first game, but right now is just being kneecapped by a QA process that spectacularly failed.
32:45 in vampire survivors. Turns out the new +duration guy can freeze reapers for a REALLY long time. But they can't be killed, even when you have a tiny pocket filled with a kajillion runetracers that instantly deletes anything else. Also confirmed rosaries don't blow them up.

For the first time in the tournament, spectators were allowed in small numbers. Northern Ontario gets some support from the Thunder Bay crowd.
Draw 19 - The tiebreaker, which isn't always necessary. Northwest Territories played quite well, including a shot that's almost guaranteed to be in the top shots for tomorrow in beating a good Manitoba team. NWT hasn't been in the Scotties playoffs since the 80s. Not that it matters for the contest, but they played Yellow stones in the 8-6 win. Draw 20 - Northern Ontario v Nova Scotia with the loser going home. Insane game. It seems the McCarville NO team is always in the playoffs, but never goes all the way. They got a lot of help today when Christina Black of NS badly missed a defensive draw with their final stone allowing NO an easy draw for 4 in the 3rd end. NS followed that up with another poorly played end, a missed final stone, and allowed a steal of 4 in the 4th for NO. Northern Ontario leads Nova Scotia 9-1 after 4. Game over. NS comes back and scores 4 in the 5th end. 9-5 NO. NS steals 1. NS steals 1. NS steals 1. NO leads only 9-8 after 8. In the 9th end, NS misses their last shot to give NO an easy 2 points, 11-8 after 9. Several more missed shots from NS in 10 and the game goes to handshakes in the 10th. It shouldn't have been anywhere near that close. Final is 11-8 for NO playing the Yellow rocks. Draw 21 - Northern Ontario v WC1 (Fleury) with the game only counting for placing in the playoffs. Another weird game. WC1 starts with the hammer. Blank, steal of 2, steal of 1, steal of 1. Play by play: "What happened to that?" Curlers: "What happened to that?" Steal of 2. Steal of 2. Cut away to the CA-NB game for the rest of the broadcast. WC (Fleury) played quite poorly plus weird things were happening to important stones. I can't recall anything like this game in a championship or playoff round. WC1 gets a few singles then handshakes. NO beats WC1 (Fleury) 8-2 in Red.
Both Talus and Ed didn't get their picks in before Draw 20 so I defaulted them to the opposite of their opponents, but they both sent picks late. It was really short notice, so I'm keeping the defaults in place for today and letting them get their choices in for Saturday. This way there can't be an accusation of cheating (aside from Iolo obviously) and Steam curlers get to control their fate as much as possible. In Ed's case it doesn't matter since he picked the default options anyway. For Talus, I'm tracking both official and preferred picks for the potential of hilarity. Sadly it doesn't seem to matter.
Green background is a correct pick. Red background is incorrect.
Here's Manitoba with an angle raise takeout through a port. Unfortunately, they don't give enough of a before and after or replay to show it clearly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSJpI2LBHqo
The normal bracket for four teams is 1v4 and 2v3 with the winners headed to the final. Curling, at least in Canada, uses the interesting page playoff system. It's 1v2 with the winner to the final and the loser to the semi-final. Then 3v4 with the winner to the semi final and the loser out. (The semi is the loser of 1-2 and winner of 3-4 with the winner of the semi going to the final against the winner of the 1-2 game.)
Page 3v4 is CA v WC1 (Fleury) both Manitoba teams at 11am PST. Page 1v2 is NB v NO at 4pm PST.
Edit: I feel like the 1-2 game is usually before the 3-4 game, but it's not this year. Adjusting the bracket to show the picks in chronological order.

All stars were announced. First team all stars were... Team Canada. They each individually had the best performance stats at their positions. Second team all stars had Ashley Sippala of Northern Ontario at second and Selena Njegovan from WC1 (Fleury) at skip. The latter is interesting because Selena doesn't play skip, but she had to fill in whilst her skip was out with the 'rona. If your third can be the second best skip in the country, you have a very good team.
Page 3/4 Playoff - The reigning Canadian champion Einarson rink as Team Canada versus the world number one ranked Fleury side playing as Wildcard 1 in an all-Manitoba matchup. Fleury hadn't lost to Einarson all year and started off looking the stronger side leading 3-1 after 3 and 5-4 after 5 ends. Then Canada came back with a nearly perfect end in 6 for a 4-ender (scored 4 points in an end) and stole 2 in 7 to take a commanding 10-5 lead. Fleury badly missed a draw in 8 to only score one then forced Canada to a single in 9. Down 5 points after 9 ends, WC1 opted for handshakes. Canada wins 11-6 playing with Yellow stones. Page 1/2 Playoff - Northern Ontario against New Brunswick. NB took the early lead 4-3 after three ends then stole three points over the next four ends to lead 7-3 after 7. NO finally made use of the hammer scoring 3 in the 8th end, then forced NB to a single in 9. Down 2 in the final end, Northern Ontario almost got three for the win, but had to settle for two and extra end without the hammer. New Brunswick was playing worse and the game went on and gave up the steal in 11 for the loss. Final score 9-8 Northern Ontario playing Red.
Northern Ontario goes to the final. New Brunswick faces Canada in the semi-final.

I did keep track of the "what if" scenarios for Talus with the late PM for picks and the best case is that he went on vacation, didn't send any PMs, and wound up in a tie breaker.
The other day I said that NWT was going to be the top shot barring some miracle and here it is. An "around the horn" final stone for three. What makes an around the horn is that the shot stone comes back towards the person who threw it, which means it goes off at least two other stones. This is a beauty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2I19ehGFHI

C&C actually made me ragequit. Mission 11A is just fucked. You've got two sets of troops separated by a river with a murderous gunboat on it. I inched my way forward with the southern group, took out the boat with artillery and rocket troops, only to see that SOMEHOW the GDI bombed my second group, killing my commando.
Reload save. Try to maneuver the northern group, guess which group gets carpet bombed now? Yeah. No fun!

I always felt like the industry was a bit too quick to abandon FMV, when done properly to supplement gameplay (and I feel the Wing Commander series and Command and Conquer/Red Alert series were great examples of this) it can really add to the feel of a game.
