Ok, I finally downloaded this tonight and man...what a game. I'm Nulfis in game, played a few matches tonight, probably play a ton more tomorrow night. I'm also getting the Vram overloaded output, though no actual crash errors until I try to close the game. Also I'm noticing that as the game continues on, it starts to lag more and more, memory leak? I run a fairly decent set up, 7900 GT, AMD 6000 dual core, 2 gig of ram. Runs pretty well with everything turned up high, but really slows down as the game runs.

I would advise everyone to leave the game on medium for now as it has a fairly obvious memory issue on High. You could toy with the settings and find out which exact setting is causing the issues, but it either gives massive slowdown after a while or crashes outright, so something's wrong somewhere. If anyone figures it out, let Massive know, they're really receptive and helpful on their beta forums.

I've been running with everything highest, except 2x AA/AF. I've crashed a couple times, but not that many, and I very rarely get slowdown.

Sorry if it's been answered already, but will there be a way to host your own games? I want to fucking properly set my graphics options so that I don't join a game and get ass slaughtered because my settings aren't optimized yet.

I dont know if it has to do with graphical settings or what, but before going to bed last night I got in one last match. Towards the end of the match a nuke was launched just behind the supermarket, it flattened the trees and leveled the building, pretty impressive really.

This game is excellent. I have found my niche as playing support to counter artillery. I'll look for the trails from an enemy arty, fire back, and then move. It's a good way to get veterancy on your arty piece to put down precision fire on points. You also get a ton of TA points, I can usually beat the other team to a nuke by a few minutes.

I've got a question, how do you call in support of a certain kind on a point? I'm still trying to figure out the point locations (like B2 and so on), but I don't know how to call for things like anti-air at B2 and so on.

Be so much better if they said "Anti-Air at Gas Station" since they manage to use the name of the point in the voice files.

Air is pretty fun to play although you either get called names or there are readily available methods of counter (AA, other coptors). It's still good for wiping out artillery/tanks and racking up TA though.

Usually I rush my first coptors (2 heavies 1 medium) to one of the early points for the other team and gamble on them not having AA. By the time my first coptors get wiped out I put down 2 heavies and 2 mediums and then apply firepower to enemy artillery or enemy tanks trying to capture points

    then i get high scores~

I noticed that infantry can be stupidly powerful if you just hide them in some trees or a building. I also noticed that if your support guys are lazy or just stupidly ignoring the shellacking your infantry are taking while capping points, it can turn the game into an awful headache real fast. I had to keep using recon and air strikes to bust up artillery last night because no one would take them out.

Yea, imagine how frustrating it is for armor when helos show up. About the only thing you can do is pop smoke and call in an air to air strike if you have enough points.

I ran up against a clan of folks and we lost continuously (before I abandoned the server) in literally like 2 minutes.

I also ran into a group in another server (all pubbies, but they were following each other's directions) that played infantry only and they destroyed mixed forces easily.

I'm sure there is a counter for this, but I haven't found it yet.

I was kinda so-so on the concept of this game when I first tried it, but I really started enjoying it the past couple days.

I've mastered the art of Infantry and Armour at the moment, not sure if I want to learn Support/Air because I prefer to take and hold the command points. Armour was actually tricky and seemed underpowered until I learned that the name of the Armour game is to blitzkrieg, essentially just run through and take the command points as fast as you can, don't sit around to fortify them, when you take one set of points, head to the next, and try not to get drawn into a long firefight unless you're striking at the enemy's backdoor artillery units.

    So awesome.

Ah HA. I would sit to fortify points (by the way, I'm starting to think fortifying them is pretty worthless as the fortifications get destroyed with impunity at range) then get destroyed by air or artillery barrages. I see.

I am pretty good at Air, decent at infantry, but couldn't figure out armor.

I like it a LOT because it's an RTS game with FPS length rounds, which is a HUGE bonus for me right now.

Is there a PA clan yet? Would help for us all to get into the same matches without having to add everyone to our contacts list.

And ToyD, Infantry's greatest weakness is to support, specifically, artillery. A couple of good artillery players can keep infantry dead or bunkered up and immobile whilst the rest of your team grab the precious points.

This is the exact same thing I was thinking this morning on my way into work, it drops a lot of the grind out of extracted rts play. I'm loving not having to deal with resource gathering.

    So awesome.

The way that works best in my opinion is the armor blitzes forward to take points while the infantry are the ones that garrison and defend them.

How do you go about creating a clan?

I tend to team up with my friend enzo and we both go armor, he favors the heavy and i favor the medium, and we hit both points and fortify them both. Yes it can seem pointless to do it, but you get extra TA points and those forts do some pretty good damage to their intended prey. Last night on the beach there was a tank that got stuck playing pickle between the two points which both had Anti Tank bases, tore him apart very quickly.

Trust me, it's not. A lot of people are having issues. Massgate's "rule of thumb" for the beta is 128MB cards on low, 256MB on medium, and 512MB on high. However, there are people with 512MB and even 768MB cards getting the "Boom" crashes. Mine does it without fail if I have it set to high, and I get a VRAM_OVERLOAD counter. There's an issue, you're just lucky enough not to have ran into it yet.

A few people have ATI cards anyway, so that's ruled out.
