I should note DarkPrimus is the only one who sent it to be in both English and..Chinese? I’m not sure but it was bilingual.

This should in no way get him bonus points. I just wanted to mention it

Also do not be fooled and vote for Green just because this is a competition for The Green Knight and their name is in the title of the movie.

    I like Pinfeldorf's haiku, because it doesn't talk about a movie I haven't seen.

Time to share this neat bit of haiku trivia I randomly came across during a wiki dive

Although the word on is sometimes translated as "syllable", the true meaning is more nuanced. One on in Japanese is counted for a short syllable, two for an elongated vowel or doubled consonant, and one for an "n" at the end of a syllable. Thus, the word "haibun", though counted as two syllables in English, is counted as four on in Japanese (ha-i-bu-n); and the word "on" itself, which English-speakers would view as a single syllable, comprises two on: the short vowel o and the moraic nasal n̩. This is illustrated by the Issa haiku below, which contains 17 on but only 15 syllables. Conversely, some sounds, such as "kyo" (きょ) may look like two syllables to English speakers but are in fact a single on (as well as a single syllable) in Japanese.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I love being Jin, making a thematically appropriate poem and then it gets put in the description of the headband you get, hell yeah.

Yeah I didn't follow the rules for written Japanese syllables because it was difficult enough constructing a tporm where it was 5/7/5 when spoken in either language.

There's also an extra bit about using a 'cutting word' that has no direct translation in English, nor an English equivalent at all.

It's very interesting stuff that they never bothered mentioning word one of in school.

It's probably better that way, because without at least a more-than-basic understanding of Japanese language in general, none of that shit would make a lick of sense and wouldn't help with constructing English haikus anyway.

Like I studied Japanese language and history in college, and one of my classes was a historical Japanese literature survey. For part of it, we covered the haiku and how it actually worked in Japanese, then spent a class trying to construct our own. And even with everything I'd covered, I felt like a 5-year-old trying to do trigonometry.

I don’t dispute any of that, but it would certainly give it more context as to why it’s difficult to do well when in English it’s just 5/7/5

I don't think Green should have gotten bonus points for sharing a name with the movie but I do think they deserve points for their poll option also being green.
