I did my final diamond run to dad legend with Evolve Shaman and it was a no win streak slog. Of all the games I played with it, I don't believe I had a single one where Bloodlust was a useful play. Every game it was either a dead draw, I won without it, or I couldn't draw it when I actually had a board and it would have been useful.
Officially the unluckiest CCG player ever.

Got on a hot streak this past week with Even Undead Death Knight in Wild and got back to Diamond with a few days to spare. Deck in spoiler:

* The other variant of this deck I've seen had 2x Manafeeder Panthara out for Invincible and Blademaster Okani
Always seemed to have a good aggro feel or a timely answer to finish out a game before the opponent gained control. Mostly encountered Priests, Mages, and the occasional Rogue on the way up.
Not only is Heroic Brawliseum taking the place of an actually playable tavern brawl this week, it's also hogging two of the daily quest spots.
Go away, Heroic Brawliseum. Nobody* likes you!

I did the Heroic Brawl for the hero portrait, and went 8-3 I think. Or maybe 7-3. I wasn’t paying a huge amount of attention. Either way, two legendary cards in the packs (which will be dusted, because I have the set), and about 250 gold and 250 dust in the chest, so I guess made back the gold I spent. I’m tempted to do it again, but what would be the point? I already have a full standard set, I have the hero portrait now, and with needing seven wins just to break even it’s a high risk, low reward scenario.
Anyhow, I used the NoHandsGamer Pure Paladin list. It was fine. Two losses were in the mirror, one came against Warlock, and I feel like I misplayed the Warlock game. And then I queued up for ranked Standard with the deck and got my butt repeatedly handed to me.

I thought one of the quests was supposed to be the Standard pack replacement for not having a normal brawl this week?

Ah, you're right. That's actually kind of classy of them.
You say that but I tried it out last night and lost extremely hard to dragon control paladin and ramp druid
I've had something like 50/50 results with it, but Nohands has been playing a different list from the one HSReplay gave me and doing quite well at high legend. Which list did you try?

im using the list with school teachers and no barons
Yeah Thief Rogue is still a stupid and ridiculous deck that can cheese out a lot of wins. Turns out it didn't need Gnolls to be strong.
I don’t think thief rogue is a good deck, but it does require flexibility and often weird strategic lines. So it’s more enjoyable to play (imho) since it requires improvisation.
Thief Rogue is good because it wins in this scenario 100% of the time:
That turn the Rogue easily took care of my board with generated cards and I couldn't get back in the game.

since UUU DK is flavor of the week, FFF DK absolutely wrecks its shit since frostwyrm's fury for any minion based deck (which there are a whole heap of running around rn) = 'you don't get to play hearthstone any more'
there's a build that plays super disruption (and doesn't run glacial advance which makes it WAY more consistent) that I have been enjoying

The ideal list will run 2x enthusiastic banker over chillfallen baron but I don't have those and I would rather save up for the rotation
I hope Shadowstep gets thrown into the fucking sun at rotation, holy shit do I hate that card.
Every Tess thief rogue is getting the nuts off jackpot against me. What’s that? You got frost armor, the shaman deal 10 aoe, and the mage make two 5/6’s? And you get to cast them, along with my DH hero card and Rogue hero card over and over for damn near infinite armor and taunt walls because you can play Tess 4+ turns in a row due to shadow step?
I did 92 damage to face that game, they ended the match with 32 armor and 7 health.
At least to me, this feels worse than casino mage ever was.

If it makes you feel better, I just got 3 iceblood towers and that card where two of your minions fight each other off a double jackpot, searching for literally anything worthwhile.
I did manage to shuffle phylactery back into my opponent’s deck (bomb warlock) to postpone the OTK…….which he then ripped off the top to OTK me from 40 (35 health plus 5 armor), which was the only way for him to win since lethal was on the board and I had the burn in hand.
You might see the good games, but jackpot rogue shits the bed roughly half the time. I’m barely above 50% in a crawl toward legend, and most of the time, losses come from bad RNG.
That’s kind of a bad thing, honestly. Virtually every deck is trying to do openly degenerate things because blizzard somehow didn’t learn that cards should cost mana. Even non-combo decks are cheating shit out way too early, leading to a lack of agency in gameplay.

The further away from the Ben Brode era we are, the worse Hearthstone becomes.
Meanwhile I am enjoying the shit out of Marvel Snap.

I’m enjoying the current meta a lot. It’s basically aggro vs midrange value decks, and that’s basically my ideal meta. Not much combo, not much control, people build boards and use them to win games. Well, except for 8-mana C’thun, he’s still annoying even after being nerfed.

Six new Mercenaries are coming in Patch 25.4. This is our final planned infusion of new collectible Mercs into the mode, and they’re some of our most interesting Mercs yet.

sunsetting engaged
Says at the bottom it's the last patch outside of balance and bugfixes. It was a nice distraction while waiting for something in ranked to get balanced. I've only stuck around because someday I thought I'd actually try and get Legend after all this time. It's the last game I have installed from the launcher. If Diablo 4 goes microtransaction heavy in all the worst ways it might be time to uninstall and keep the launcher around to play Starcraft and Wings of Liberty every now and then.
The writing has been on the wall for Mercs being dead as shit for months, but it's absolutely wild they're admitting they're done with it before they've even released the final patch for it. I figured they would continue to string Mercs players along for a few more months after whatever dumping out whatever "end game system for extra Renown" they have been hinting about for, literally, the vast majority of Mercs' life as a mode.
Man, Mercs only lasted like 18 months. I thought it was performing better than that among the casual crowd.
I doubt it, and even then, people playing isn't the same thing as people paying. I have to imagine the spigot of people investing money in Mercenaries dried out very quickly once they realized how poor the value proposition for packs was with its lack of dupe protection for coins (leaving alone how the huge majority of players quickly dipped on the mode after realizing how grindy and repetitive it is). As people get more and more mercs maxed out, packs become nearly worthless, even for Mercenaries, which is kind of a worthless mode as it is.
It will also be the last major update to the Mercenaries mode as we align our goals and focus on continuing to make Hearthstone the best digital card game in the world.
Translation: Mercenaries is costing us more money to develop for than it takes in and we have absolutely no idea how to turn that around.
Also, if Team 5 wanted to not be dicks, they would at least remove all the gold costs from the Travel Point upgrades. It's silly that any random new player wanting to dip a toe into the mode is still asked to cough up gold for a dead mode that (statistically) they will probably regret afterward.

Maybe this washes out some of the salt. Past three games, my jackpots and concoctions netted me a combination of iceblood towers, the demon resurrecting and summoning spells, and most hilariously, multiple relic vaults in the same game without generating a relic.
At least casino mage’s spells are forced to target the enemy. Jackpot rogue is very much a bad deck, the random RNG blessing aside.
Edit: unfortunately, none to the decks I actually have the cards for are good in the current meta. So I’m trying to ride my luck to legend, but it’s a frustrating ride so far.

I'm probably similar to 99% of players where I poked my head into mercenaries, said no thanks and didn't engage with it at all after a few days beyond release

I tried Mercs and wanted to like it, but just couldn't muster enthusiasm. However I finally found the hook in Battlegrounds and have been playing that more.

Also Vampiric Blood can suck my Frostmourne. Especially after it's cast for the 3rd or 4th time in a game.

clever positioning around secrets (mostly objections) got me there
e: also really important to just cast your cheap spells for base value so they can't scam you with barbaric sorceress

as hearthstone grows older, too much of the game is just sitting around and waiting for someone to kill you before you assemble your kill
so super greedy control decks are moving in to prey on the minion based aggro
