Naw I liked Rocket, they might be easy to beat but I can still remember what they were up to in the first game. Running a casino, stealing mons, roughing up folks to get things, taking over a company from the inside out. All easily dealt with, but I got what they were about.

I’m still not certain Rose had a plot.
He didn't have a plot as such, no.
Basically, things go like this.
Rose spends the game being sort of "generically affable", but it becomes clear real quick that he's kind of a child and doesn't actually listen to anyone (Sonia and Oleana tell him things repeteadly and it's in one ear out the other, he throws Bede under the bus for following Oleana's orders, etcetera). This comes to a head when he explains that he's going to Save The World by using a powerful, unstable energy source that could prevent an energy crisis in the far future, forever, and tells Leon to drop his Champion thing to help him with summoning and capturing Eternatus tomorrow, who is basically a Blatant Nuclear Energy Kaiju (you might be aware Japan does those).
...and Leon, who is an actual adult with responsibilities, basically goes "Dude. That sounds like the kind of thing we should approach a bit carefully. You said yourself there's a century before this becomes an issue. I have my most important match of the season tomorrow. Can we talk about this next week. I promise to hear you out, but I kinda have things going on right now". And leaves.
At which point Rose gets butthurt, goes "oh, yeah?", and goes through with the summoning anyway, in the knowledge that Leon will have to drop things and come save Galar anyway if Eternatus starts rampaging around, because people need to do what he tells them and he has to be the one calling the shots and saving the world with his masterful plan, damn it. Which nearly gets everyone killed as it turns out Leon gets suckerpunched and if the player character and Hop hadn't stepped up with Zacian and Zamacenta there'd probably be a crater where the Hammerlocke area was.
Basically Rose is just kind of Elon Musk, rather than a supervillain. The whole thing is not so much a plot as a baby tantrum by an ego tripping millionaire who got told "no" and nearly got everyone killed over it.
It's not really great. Far as I'm concerned, the game would be stronger if we removed the whole thing and focused on the sports anime. But even "badly done rich idiot" has more going on than Giovanni ever did!

I will say, in some sense I think Team Plasma kind of succeeds here. Yes, you also smack them around, but their threat feels more in their rhetoric than physical strength (outside of N himself). When they are actually successfully managing to convince the general population that their cause is just, that's a decent villain IMO (and it's not like it's "say something absurd but dumb NPC still buys it" - they actually make a semblance of a compelling argument about whether pokemon are being mistreated).
I also do kinda like Galactic in the sense that all the grunts are like "please let me win so they don't take away my Pokemon, I love them!" (or was this Plasma? Damn I can't remember.. it might have been both.. I know there were definitely some Plasma grunts who were like "I was given this pokemon, I don't actually give a shit about Pokemon.. but now I kinda do love my pokemon and I'm not sure if our plan to take all the pokemon away is right anymore" where I think Galactic was like "I lost so the leaders took my pokemon away and now I'm sad")
Yeah, Regirock dates back to the early gens when they made the catch rate for Legendaries really low. To compare, Regirock has a catch rate of 3, same as Mewtwo. Solgaleo, on the other hand, has a catch rate of 45.

It's weird to me this stuff doesn't get updated for newer games. Like, it's an invisible stat that doesn't affect competition in any way... Ditto for some of the shit Pokemon Go carries over from the base game that really makes no sense for that game (like the low catch rates in a game where the pokemon can actually run away)

Pokemon running away is from the base games too iirc. At least for the birds, who were incredible jerks to capture in the original games.

Only a small, small amount of them. It's like, the birds/dogs/couple other legendaries (forces of nature, Cresselia, etc), stuff with Teleport (Abra), and technically stuff with self-destruct/explosion (it's kind of like running away :P). But that's maybe 1-2% of all Pokemon.
I've been playing Pokemon Go off and on since 2016 and still no ditto.
Rip Be on the lookout for these pokemon and try to catch them: https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/
(you can sometimes tell if it's a ditto because you'll find the pokemon much harder to catch than normally.. like, jumping out of a green circle)
Worst case scenario, they tend to release a TON of Dittos on April Fools

So weird that they kept it that way.
You would think they would have updated it to be more in line with other legendaries.
Not that I have a problem with it, mind. Legends should be able to dodge pokeballs like a pro.
After Megamon X/Z and the sandwich minigame I don't know what else they can reveal tomorrow of worth that can top that other than maybe Lechonk's evolution.

Man I really wish these had VA. That would probably be one of the biggest updates they could make that would make me really fall hard in love with these.
Getting that extra level of personality would make it so much easier to care about the characters even if they stay super simplistic.
For legendaries, I think it would be cool if they acted as a pseudo-trainer battle. Meaning, you have to fight and defeat the Pokémon multiple times (in the same battle) before you can catch it, and its movement changes with every "faint". When you hit its final phase, you get a notification that it's weak enough to catch. That way catching them isn't trivial, but also doesn't have to end up in a ball-stall like optional legendaries do now.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

The Uber Legendary will Terastallize to every type in the same battle, one at a time. So you have to defeat it 18 times in one battle as it changes to every possible type.

I'm a little annoyed at my son at the moment. He ran into a Mewtwo in his Dynamax Adventure and lost so he was able to save the location. Well me and him ran it several times hoping to be able to get him but ultimately never did. We took a break and he went upstairs... Apparently he went upstairs, logged onto the Internet and got him. And now I won't be able to get it.

Oh wow.
*Legends: Arceus spoilers*
Just got kicked out of the survey corps and the village.
Fucking hell this is a bleak turn for a Pokemon game.
Today I learned that a critical throw in Pokemon Sword isn't a guaranteed capture. It did the sound effect and had the ball shake but it still broke out.

Yeah, I was shocked when I found that out. I had always thought for so long that's what it meant, only to have a couple critical catches break out on me a few months back.
I forget exactly what it is but I want to say it gives the pokemon only one opportunity to break out instead of 3 or something like that.

A team of weird townies who think a kid will thrust their shit hole to relevance is shockingly applicable to sports fans

Its always the ones you'll never use, isn't it?
Time to pour over in depth Carnivine strats!
GTS bait at least
I have 7 or so from Arceus I'm hoping to get some of the rarer guys I need
Are they finally gonna reveal
Took 42 total. He lost all his attacks and used Struggle which hurt himself and killed him.
Came back with stun powder and caught him in 6 turns.
Yeah, I've been spamming massive mass outbreaks and I've got half a box of "spares" right now to trade away when I can.

I only ever use dusk balls. Same base rate as ultras but at night or in a cave it doubles

Becuase my party getting stronger while everything stays the same seems kind of terrible. Not that I was expecting much of a challenge but still.
I think they want you swapping your party around. Sure if you stuck with the same 6 Pokemon they'd be monsters by the end but why not branch out?
So I guess this was the update. A new gym leader and a new Pokémon tease.
