I am having so much trouble trying to get the unlock from inverted mad forest.
For some reason, I'm having a hell of a time trying to survive. And when I do, the enemies are such bullet sponges that I can't collect enough EXP to keep up with the curve or reach level 80 by 30 minutes.
Am I going to have to refund my upgrades and buy less Curse?
Alternate answer that doesn't help if you haven't been playing a while: eggs, lots and lots of eggs trivialize everything. Even 100-200 makes a big difference in the feel of the game, but if you've got over 1,000 then everything becomes a speed bump.
Thank you. I will try again with the Awake tarot (the triple revive and get stronger when you revive one). And maybe try someone other than Mort. But I like Mort...

Save Mort until after you successfully complete Bat Country and you'll have a great time.
Unfortunately, I shoulda turned on Endless mode. got to level 71 and then got hit with the reaper. Oops.

Hello!
I started playing HoloCure a couple weeks ago, and Vampire Survivors yesterday. VS was pretty hard for me to match the rhythm of after being spoiled by Holo's twinstick controls but I got my first "win" last night!
Antonio, in the Library, with six evolved weapons - Whip, Garlic, Wand, Fire Wand, Axe and Lightning Ring.
And then I finished reading all thirty-four pages of this thread. I greatly anticipate (not coming anywhere close to) finding all the cool stuff to come!

HoloCure: Just got the Couch Potato and Hardcore Gamer cheevs with Fauna, though in separate runs. Her skills just synergize really well! No luck with a Stage 3 AZKi run though.
Vampire Survivors: Slowly making my way through unlocks. Should I basically "burn" my first runs of a new stage to pick up the relics?

Things that I've found helpful:
-If you have it, take the three free revives tarot card. Basically ensures a successful build unless you create pure gutter trash (my build the other day with fireworks + garlic + boomerangs... with no spinach. It was like gently pushing them with pillows.)
- You basically need a way to maintain health until your damage locks in, Armor + Pummarola is the gold standard, but you can also take Crown + Attractorb to just put your build together much faster.
- Focus on one really good weapon (taking the first level of others is fine to add volume) in your first 20 levels or so. Near to max Bible or Whip can carry an otherwise weak setup for a while.
- If you have Seal unlocked, Seal some stuff you definitely will not use (I'm often sealing daggers or guns since they're not very useful without a specific setup, imo).
One thing my co workers never did was look at where their damage was actually coming from. They loved garlic and bibles, but when you look at your post match DPS you'll see what's really doing all your murdering.
Once I got Queen Sigma, it's hard to take anyone else.
It's not just about damage, pushback is also useful. Garlic is easily outdamaged, but it's fantastic at pushing enemies back so bird/axes/lasers/whatever have more time to kill them. Garlic won't get the credit for those kills, but it at least deserves an assist credit for them.
Hm, I haven't taken garlic in forever it feels like. One thing that I found worked ridiculously well was the cats w/ all the range/size increases. Eventually, the entire screen is just those cloud/catfights and nothing can get through them, which was suprising.
When your Curse is at really high levels, I found that some way to restore health was pretty much mandatory. So I'd end up taking the whip combo a lot.
I like Garlic sometimes just for accelerating early farming and getting you up to the "don't care about anything" stage a bit earlier; being able to just yolo run into bat clouds early and get a couple levels feels very, very good.
Yeah, I agree with that for sure - bibles or garlic are handy for wiping out trash early on. It's painful to start some runs with nothing that mass kills, those first 5 minutes are a drag.

I really enjoyed getting garlic when I started out, but once you unlock some other stuff and can get to 30 minutes every time it really falls off.

you know, i'm not personally into spaceship aesthetics, but it's such an obvious fit for the genre i'm surprised i haven't seen it before

VS: I did it! I did the thing!
Even death may die.
Took a couple false starts where I accidentally filled all my weapon slots before picking up both Clock Lancet and Laurel, or took both too early and fell behind the damage curve. But I finally got Infinite Corridor and Crimson Shroud in the last couple of minutes (thanks to a very timely 5-pull chest) and survived the 29:00 Killer of Mediocre Runs wave to properly roast the reaper.
Think I'm ready for Mt. Moonspell?

For ~$3 I'm willing to make an impulse purchase here. This looks like a clever idea for a game and I'm happy to throw $3 at it. I'll check it out and let people know my thoughts.

I had fun at it, took me about 14 hours to get all the achievements, but there are still a pile of extras you can do in game to continue to max out your weapons and characters. I started right before they added the 5th character and the temporary invulnerability, both of which make it a lot easier to get to the final boss, so you can likely do it quicker now that those are in the game. I think it's well worth the $3.50 I paid for it.

Initial verdict is mostly positive, I like how you're constantly moving around the small map and locations can be upgraded alongside your weapons and systems. There's less variety in general than vampire survivors and the art isn't better or worse, just a different style. It has yet to get to the omg crazy levels of vampire survivors where the entire screen is constantly exploding but I have only been playing a few hours and I've not beaten the final boss yet.

VS: Did my first Mt. Moonspell run using Porta with Game Killer. I literally didn't even see half the bosses, just a treasure chest popping up about a second after the time they should've appeared.

Not sure if I missed it here or what, but there's a mech VS-like called Project Lazarus on Steam which is on sale for 25% of for the next day which is pretty decent so far. Not completely like VS since you have to do some aiming and some of the mechs have different movement styles - one of them, named Dozer, can run over and kill small enemies which gives them extra armor, uses tracked movement which takes some getting used to.
I do love this genre since most of the games are around the $5 price point so getting one to try out is basically an impulse buy.
Protip for buying the new VS DLC on Xbox, which is much harder than it needs to be.
1) Go to store, hit search.
2) Type in "Vampire"
3) Change tab to "add-ins"
No other way I tried worked, including hitting "show all DLC for Vampire Survivors" specifically. I'm sure they'll eventually fix it, but Xbox store day of updating sucks ass, as ever.
Got a soft lock yesterday, don't know if the new DLC was the cause or not. When I picked up a purple chest (Tarot card) and regular chest at the same time, it opened the Tarot picking screen and got stuck there. Couldn't pick a card, couldn't back out. Only way was to kill the game process off and start over.

Since a second DLC just came out I picked up the first DLC and went through that as well! I've finished with Moonspell and am about halfway through the Focari content
Man, there are many imitators, and many of them are great, but nobody does it like Vampire Survivors does it. The sprites are fun and cool and lively, the new items and weapons are interesting and the new characters have unique gimmicks and neat looks and offer whole new ways to make yourself completely invincible
As someone who 100%'d the base game before I even entered these DLCs, it was kind of neat how I was immediately seeing ways to completely fuck the game over. Take one of the new characters in Focari, one "Maruto Cuts." They have a big sword and get an armor bonus after being attacked. I decided that I would focus entirely on physical weapons, so I got the whips and the daggers and the cross and the other swords and some armor and the Slash and Noble Bloodline arcanas and just started walking into crowds
The end stats I didn't bother to save, but this is how much health I had just before the end:
Noble Bloodline is so fuckin' busted y'all, it's great
I really like the new map, characters, and weapons. Especially the three-item spell.
There's a thing that happens
when you descend into the Abyss Folcari, and unlock the crystals, you face an evil that has been sealed by Luminaire, and during the battle she descends to help
I happened to read the bestiary entries and knew what was happening, and actually got goosebumps during that moment.
....is Vampire Survivors anime
I think VS may have gotten too complicated for me. I never found many of the Arcana, and there's no way I'd find new characters to unlock without looking it up. Even at that some of the ways are just... "What? How am I even supposed to do that"
There is a room in the new map (I think Abyss) where you can just stand and get endless eggs
obv slower than egg-boosted money farming with a respective build/char, but if you don't want to bother with that (which is REASONABLE imo), this is a really nice add
Got around to playing the new Vampire Survivors DLC and I think one of the characters is broken, figuratively which leads to literally
It's Sammy, the worm!
With zero eggs I went into a hyper, inverse Bone Zone and picked up some fairly normal secondaries and took the Arcana that gives gold rush and bought that one that does damage when you heal. After about 1 minute they entered a state where he didn't stop leveling ever, which prevented me from actually bringing up the menu. After about 20 minutes I was over level 1800 and the text from the gold rush had zoomed in to the point where the screen was 4 colors. I had to force out!
A duck! on

Speaking of following the unlocks I finally caught the breadcrumbs for Foscari's "story"...
Broke the first two seals and unlocked Luminaire (both of them). Wanna keep going but I got stuff to do tomorrow.

I ended up having to check the wiki to figure out the evolution for the Flash Arrow.
I managed to correctly guess that Bracer was needed (thematically appropriate and mechanically too), but I don't think I would've figured out to try Stone Mask.
I think this second VS DLC is better than the first. It's possible I'm wrong about some of them, but my impression of the weapons from the first DLC is that I don't like most of them, whereas a lot of them from this new DLC seem very usable. I especially like new evolves from combos that were previously bad or suboptimal (having something else for Bracer to do makes picking up knives less crazy). I think the "storyline" so to speak is a nice progression as well.
And of course I'm happier with two new levels over just one.
I do think the Moonspell DLC has some good weapons (I'm always happy with the Silver Wind, and you can make the Four Seasons/Godai Shuffle get pretty wild), but I do agree that the Foscari weapons are more straightforward in how good they are, without needing to do weird stuff to build them for.
