The ability to redownload already purchased games isn't going away for "the forseeable future" (according to nintendo). But the ability to purchase will be.

Triangle Strategy just came out and the general sense of "country invades another without provocation, lying about their casus belli and pretending to be altruistic" was not lost on me. But it's just a game. I'm not tugging at my shirt collar and telling Square it's a bad look fam.
A little unsure; is this delaying due to like, supply chain issues caused by... all that? Or is it due to like, public perception due to a war going on right the fuck now?

Having to wait a little more for a war video game out of respect for people currently having their homes destroyed and families (or selves) killed is fine by me.
Yeah, I got an email this morning that they canceled my pre-order because of this (why? I still want the game even if it's delayed again...). It's a shame but I totally understand why they're doing this. What I'm really curious about is whether this means it's just going to sit done waiting for a better release date or if WayForward is going to get more time to polish the game even more. I'm kinda hoping for the later. If the delay means we can get an even better game that would be nice.
Doesn't help that iirc the Blue faction in Advance Wars is just, basically Russia.
Which, yeah, I get a feeling it'd feel very awkward to play those guys given current events. A delay seems reasonable.
Yeah that was literally the first thing I thought of when I found out about the delay. It would just look really, really bad if they released it now. Even ignoring the obvious sensitivity reasons not to release it, financially it would probably be really dumb too since I'm sure public sentiment about the war would cause a lower amount of sales.
For what it's worth, Blue Moon later becomes more generic... not exactly Canada, but general land of ice and snow. And even then, it's mostly just Olaf. Grit/Colin/Sasha aren't that at all.

Edit: also, the delay gives me extra time to play Triangle Strategy, so it’s a win-win.

If that's the case, the game might be delayed until well after the Ukraine war ends. Which could be a long, loooooong time.
It occurs to me that with new voiced dialog, the "obviously Russian" faction could be, like, audibly even more obviously a Russian stand-in.
Just might be another contributing factor.

Nada. The F-Zero X N64DD release included 12 new tracks, a vehicle editor and the ability to create your own race tracks. We get none of that sadly.
