like I see the difference in the cuffs but they project the same aesthetic to me
they hit the shoes different. you're not gonna get your hems wet in joggers, as they're made for all conditions. they're new, they're hip.
sweats are old, for sitting around the house drinking maxwell house and reading the paper with your bifocals
I was well into adulthood before I ever saw anything but joggers, I guess. But they were always called sweats. The non-elastic cuff has only been evidenced around me in the last like, 10 years, so it feels real weird to hear those aren't sweats.
Yeah this is one of the weird parts to me - every pair of sweats I ever saw in my youth was actually joggers by the modern distinction, it appears.
I guess it's maybe because most of my experience with sweats is through the lens of high school and college athletics? Like, they're the thing you wear to warm up when you're at an outdoor meet despite it still being only forty degrees out. And yeah, some people wear them casually as well, but that's like folks who sleep in basketball shorts or whatever.
I don't know who Doja Cat is but I'm assuming she's somebody's arch nemesis and is about to start monologuing about their plans to destroy Metropolisburg.
