If I can't tell what the game is by the title or the thumbnail, I don't watch it.
And I know all of it is because of the algorithm so I do my part by not supporting this nonsense. If something is part 2, put part 2 in the title. I clicked on something recently thinking it was a one-off and it was part 2 or 3 to a series. It sucks.
Happy to report the latest episode has a 2 on the thumbnail...although it's not in the video title and the name of the game is absent.

😂😂 Baby steps I guess?
Though they introduce the game in this episode as though no one saw the last one. I really hope they don’t do that every episode. They’ve never done this before and it get that it’s to help those who didn’t see the previous episode, but honestly they should just be pointing out it is episode 2 of a long series… as they are kinda doing anyhow.

Aw man they're bringing that back? You mean they pretend that no one saw it while they're talking or they did the annoying "last time on game grumps" voice again?
They did the last time on game grumps, but, when the episode started, they actually took some time to explain what the game was.
Is it the high pitched voice? I'm sorry for so many questions. I won't even have time to think about watching Game Grumps for a few days thanks to work.

No, I think it's Arin making fun of people who didn't like the high pitched voice.

Ah but it's a Sonic game so there will be 4 episodes of them reading erotic sonic fanfiction for some reason. Hopefully they start titling the one off games too.
Really enjoyed the Colossal Cave episode. The beginning is a bit long to get through before they actually start playing, but once they start and Dan is able to ask some leading questions about the older Sierra games, it's just fascinating. The point-and-click generation is a massive part of my teenage gaming years and her games were a large (frustrating) piece of that. I don't think I've watched their Phantasmagoria playthrough, I guess I know what I'm watching next.

I saw a YouTube comment that said something along the lines of "Arin has finally met his match: the unskippable tutorial".
I won't lie, after about 6 minutes I started skipping forward.
So it looks like they're titling the episodes with the game name and part number about 24 hours after the episode is released. Which I'm cool with and I will start watching them again.

Yeah a lot of channels need to be a slave to the algorithm.
That Pizza Tower game though? I'm glad Arin seems to be enjoying it because it looks like a hot mess to me. I had to turn it off about half way because my old man brain just didn't like anything about it.
Ooh they're playing pizza tower? I've been meaning to grab it, but I haven't really had free time. I loved the old Wario Land games it keeps getting compared to.

It absolutely looks like it's an apt description haha.
No joke, I still have an original GameBoy that my uncle gave me when I was a kid, and it runs perfectly fine. Those things are real heavy duty. The only game I still have for it is Wario Land 3, which I boot up every few months just to goof around in for an hour or two of nostalgia.

Pizza tower is freaking amazing and I'm glad they are playing it. The first video brought me pure joy just watching arin appreciate the game.
I can't imagine what about it would make you need to turn off a video. Seems like an extra reaction to anything but to each their own. The game is one of the best experiences to come out in a long time and every aspect of it is top notch. Especially the music, the music is so freaking good.
I've seen a few people put off by the late-90s grotesque animation style it deliberately invokes. Like the way Pepino's eyes pop out of his head in the status window during escapes was viscerally upsetting to them.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

You take any particular art style you're gonna get some subset of people that don't like it. I personally don't like the "CalArts" style, myself.
Nah it's just... all over the place? Screen colors are changing constantly, the animation of him dashing, everything is in constant motion and the textures are too much. It feels like an assault on my senses. My old man brain just couldn't handle it.
I'm not saying it's a bad game so don't take it the wrong way lol.

Didn't really think of this angle and it makes sense.
I absolutely love the art style though and it genuinely makes me laugh constantly.

I thought the whole 'Cal Arts' thing was just right wing code until "woke" became the only word the shitpile brigade use for everything they don't like?

I dunno. I just googled it, clicked on image search and agreed.

I mean
It's a very specific animation aesthetic I don't find very endearing. EVERYTHING IS A BEAN.
Also, at this point, it's probably easier to pick words they haven't used to shitpile brigade everything they don't like
I haven’t watched today’s video yet so I don’t know if it’s a good episode or not, but I just want to say that I’ve played Rusty Lake Hotel and it’s a great game and I wouldn’t describe it as a “furry murder mystery”. In case you think this is another furry visual novel, it’s not.
Whenever talk of the "CalArts Style" comes up I like to note that Kid Goku from the late 80's Dragon Ball anime would fit in perfectly as a 2010's Steven Universe character.

I mean that show is an unabashed 'homage' of Dragonball, so yeah?

I'm just pointing out Kid Goku's rockin' that bran mouth.
Also Steven Universe is 1000% the Western cartoon with the most anime references and I'm betting over half the production team was made up of big ol' weebs. One of the recurring locations was literally an homage to the Junji Ito story "The Enigma at Amigara Fault", a pair of characters wear parts of Kamina from Gurren Lagann's outfit, lots of subtle to blatant Revolutionary Girl Utena references, etc.
To be fair there's also a character that is heavily based on Zim from Invader Zim.
I don't really mind the CalArts thing - some of my favorite recent cartoons have it (Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears). The one case where I thought it looked terrible was the attempt at a funny revamp of Thundercats. Taking characters with existing designs and trying to shoehorn them into that look just missed the mark for me.
Also, there are very few things on YouTube that bring me as much pleasure as Dan and Arin singing "I Love Your Smile".

Ah cool. Saves my ears.
Constructive criticism CAN work.
Though it's 80 minutes, so probably won't get the chance to watch the whole thing until like Friday.
