I solved today's Redactle (#43) in 46 guesses with an accuracy of 69.57%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/
Knew ir was a person almost immediately, got poet, writer, lived most of his life in England. Started guessing proper names of 4 and 5 letters, and James gave me James and the Giant Peach which gave me the answer
βI was quick when I came in here, Iβm twice as quick nowβ

"He" was my 5th word, "writer" was 8. Got distracted thanks to "war" and the fact that this guy was clearly a soldier, and then got "speculative fiction" and "science fiction". I figured it out the same way as knitdan, guessing "James" and seeing "James and the". I just happened to get impatient and try for names faster.
I solved cheated today's Redactle (#43) in 135 guesses through brute forcing it with an accuracy of 67.41%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/
How you could pick this is beyond me.
Missed Children's and hit on "science fiction" and "fantasy".
Didn't get any titles. Aside some TV show.
So eventually gave up, went for the birth year, and then plugged names from Google in

Mainly just on the number of letters in each word
It looked like it was obviously a person so my first word was "he." Words related to writing (without ever actually trying "writing" whoops) weren't coming up with as many hits as I would have expected for an author so I went on a World War II tangent for a little while, but then "British" and "work" came up big enough that it was only one more guess before I tried Dahl. Entirely because I couldn't think of any other British writers of the mid-20th century with a 5 letter first name and 4 letter last name that were well known enough to have a wiki entry this long. And really it was trying to come up with writers with 4 letter last names that did it.

See I just
exhausted my supply of war poets
And then went blank
Besides I would have pegged
Dahl as Australian (a whole bunch of us stole his style)

One possible answer sprang immediately to mind when I saw today's redactle. Counted the number of letters in the blank words and it matched so went for it and that was it. The perfect redactle.
I would say that it's time to retire, but I appreciate the level of challenge from redactle much more than any other wordle-likes.

I went with something else first, and then misspelt the word second.
I have no knowledge on the topic.
It's 4 am here and the first thing that sprang to mind was Thomas the Tank Engine, but that had too many words.

Tried to fill in some blanks before I started just throwing names out.
Literally guessed every other English King before I guessed William.
I am TERRIBLE at this.
