Briscoes are once again signed to ROH.

I think that was quicker than most people expected.

NXT UK continues to mystify me as a thing that somehow still exists.
I can only assume it is being subsidised by the British government, since its safer to have all those sex offenders in a warehouse in Lewisham or whatever than just roaming the country freely.

Making a lot of assumptions about the Tory government caring about the safety of the general public.

I don't know if they're my favorite current tag team, but Soul Meat definitely has my favorite current tag team name.

Based on his reactions, Jermaine Dupri had possibly never watched a second of wrestling in his life before Wednesday.

ok so for anyone who's bought tickets to AEW: how quick do they sell out and how important is it to get front/near-front seats?
I've never been to a wrestling show but Dynamite is coming to my town in September and tickets go on sale this morning at 10 AM, and I wanted to know some stuff from folks who have gone.

  • LockedOnTargetLockedOnTarget Registered User regular
They tend to sell out fast, but honestly in most arenas you are generally gonna be fine even if you’re in the upper levels.

I would recommend not getting floor seats unless you are in the first couple of rows. It can be hard to see over rows and rows of fans sitting directly in front of you. Like I would say being in the middle of the arena is way better than being on the floor but fifth row.

I thought I had bought shit seats but it turned out I didn't. It depends a lot on the venue and how they have their seating situated.

Also friends of ours were able to procure seats next to ours a month after we bought ours.

i had some very mundane seats and they were way better than i was expecting. its almost like arenas are designed for that lol...

my only advice would be to get a seat that is on the same side as the TV camera

fwiw my show in fort myers was very not-sold-out at all and the good floor seats were all gone instantly. not sure how that works, there must be some special private reserve to actually get those, or scalpers, or something.

There was a code to get into the presale where the floor tickets were bought for that show.

I'm afraid the smaller crowd for the show might mean we don't get another show in the future.

So after 25 years, we're all sold on the Montreal Screwjob being legit and not a work, right? I still read about people who think the Bret, Vince, and Shawn were all in on it to tank WCW by sending over Bret for $$$ and then bring him back after the fact. That makes no sense and would probably borderline on illegal in some way.

Whoever would believe that has taken one too many stiff chair shots. 97-98 was the tail-end of when I had my ins with WWF (knew a couple of road agents and one ref that did house shows), but pretty much everyone not named McMahon or Hickenbottom was blindsided. Earl Hebner fled the damn arena in case Bret thought he was in on it and was looking to kick some ass.

STAMFORD, Conn., July 22, 2022 – Vince McMahon today released the following statement:

“As I approach 77 years old, I feel it’s time for me to retire as Chairman and CEO of WWE. Throughout the years, it’s been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, thrill you, surprise you, and always entertain you. I would like to thank my family for mightily contributing to our success, and I would also like to thank all of our past and present Superstars and employees for their dedication and passion for our brand. Most importantly, I would like to thank our fans for allowing us into your homes every week and being your choice of entertainment. I hold the deepest appreciation and admiration for our generations of fans all over the world who have liked, currently like, and sometimes even love our form of Sports Entertainment.

“Our global audience can take comfort in knowing WWE will continue to entertain you with the same fervor, dedication, and passion as always. I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of Superstars, employees, and executives – in particular, both Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan. As the majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can. My personal thanks to our community and business partners, shareholders, and Board of Directors for their guidance and support through the years. Then. Now. Forever. Together.”

I will note that the press release does not say he is stepping down from creative. Dude is still in charge, just doesn’t have the title anymore as a bit of cover to the company.

Edit: I am now seeing reports he is no longer in charge of creative. Still majority shareholder, though.

anyway thanks for the advice earlier, there's a shitton of seats next to the hardcam still so I might get one of those. The problem is none of my friends like wrestling, I don't have a car, and it would be too late for the buses, so it would be a truckload of money for an Uber back home, gotta figure something out

I would not rely on Uber or Lyft. After a lot of shows they ten to be too busy and you'll be stuck at the venue until it slows down or you walk home.

I've seen a few people reporting he's also done as head of creative but none of the names are anyone I'd say I'm super familiar with, but goddamn I swear I thought I'd see a report of him passing before seeing anything about retirement.
