Gallo to the dodgers for a minor leaguer feels like a steal for the yankees. Like god damn.

It might not mean anything, but Contreras (DH) and Happ are both in the lineup tonight.

Might indicate that there’s no moves anticipated on that front…

    (Fingers crossed)

As a Yankees fan the thing I like most about the Soto deal is that he's either hitting free agency in a couple years or the Padres will try to flip him for picks in his contract year and he'll only be 25.

I don't think San Diego can float him, Tatis and Machado long term. This move feels like them going all in on Machado's prime and in a few years you'll have another big push around Tatis but I don't see how you sign both him and Soto long term

I mean when your team isn't making the play offs for thirty years and wasting top prospects literally all rivalries are one sided.

Heck, how long before the constant upward trend in contracts leads to Tatis grumbling about being underpaid? Let alone if it happens on his team.

Padres have a bunch of money coming off the books in 2024 and reportedly believe they stand a real chance at extending him. Machado also has an opt-out after 2023, so that may affect their ability to offer Soto a contract depending on how it shakes out.

I feel like he would have to stay healthy for a full season or two for that to really amount to anything and, well, lol. lmao.

I think they're setting the asking price really high and are showing that they're willing to stand pat if teams don't meet their asking price. Happ is under team control for another year and, hell, worse things to have around a young team than a veteran catcher

Casali is interesting because he caught for Castillo a few years ago during a period when Castillo was very good.

Also the Ms catching when Raleigh is sitting is dire.

Yeah Casali isn't a bad call, Boyd has potential and as long as the team didn't give up too much to get someone who's a dice roll. Can't be worse than marco or flexen I mean he can but you know.

The deals that Tatis and Wander Franco both signed were never meant to go their full length. They were always a way of getting a friends and family discount on their major deals down the line.

Mariners also apparently picked up Jake Lamb from the Dodgers for Cash. Lamb is definitely a "until people are healthy" pick up.

Harrison Bader also got traded to the yankees for Jordan Montgomery.

I think it makes sense for the Mariners to not go all in at the deadline. They're close enough to get a wild card spot, but probably not close enough to a championship caliber team to go completely all in. Make some small moves to continue to be competitive and hopefully break that postseason drought, and continue building.

This is the most I've seen them do when they weren't selling in a while. Like they got Castillo, Casali, Boyd, and Lamb. Which wasn't nothing.

Also mets got Mychel Givens from the cubs. But Contreras stays.
