Liliana is a thousand year old necromancer who made pacts with demons and then hunted down and killed them to get out of payment and she talks like a human resources worker in an office.

Well, Liliana is a human resources worker, is just that said human resources don't have to be, you know, living.

Chandra's reaction is completely normal but I also think unless they've indicated we're getting like, a 10 or 15 part story this go-round spending 40% of your budget on "the thing we knew was happening has started and Lukka is a dumbass" and "one of the 3+ main characters for this arc is sad about events we already knew" is pretty inefficient storytelling.
Exactly. This is the Crisis on Infinite Earths of M:TG. When you've only got twelve issues to cram in as many cameos as you can, grieving for the fallen needs to be kept to four pages maximum.

This will be 10 chapters.

Demons are not nearly as soul-draining as the horrors of academic bureaucracy.

I'm still mad that the one-two punch of Eldraine getting me out of playing standard/drafting (well, and the pandemic, but I would've stuck around on Arena if the formats were half-decent) and then Strixhaven, the dumbest set concept of all time, making me tune out Magic entirely caused me to miss the two coolest sets of all time back-to-back in New Capenna and Neo-Kamigawa.
And right when my friends got me into playing again we're back to fuckin' Dominaria and bad comic book writing.

Kamigawa doesn't even need Capenna for that. The Reckoners are already the fantasy Yakuza.
