I know it's on streaming so who knows the answer to this, but is Halo even doing well? I feel like aside from a few people on here, I'm the only one watching it. Like I never see any hype about it anywhere before an episode drops, and Microsoft hasn't really been pushing it hard either unless I'm completely blind to it, and no larger gaming sites seem to be recapping it on a weekly basis.
And it makes sense, it's not great. I mean I personally think it's fine but I also don't watch a lot of trash sci-fi so it's just nice to have a dumb little show all to myself that I don't have to constantly engage in the broader #discourse for, but for how much money and projects it has left in its wake it just seems to be floating out there in the pop culture ether.
I know it's been renewed for a season 2 but that was months ago and doesn't necessarily reflect on quality or popularity these days.

There's a deal on Gamepass that will allow people to legally watch the whole thing for free, so many people are likely waiting to pull the trigger on that with the correct timing (if you go too early, you would have to pay to see the ending).

Finished Peacemaker, hell of a show, very happy with the ending.
I'm glad I don't follow the DC movie stuff too closely, as apparently Harcourt is confirmed to appear in Black Adam - which is great - but if I'd known that it would've taken from the tension of her near-death.

Coulda had a decade of interesting, surprising shows, coulda had a dozen chances to fall in love, and instead there's one big bucket of reheated corporate slurry Because Brand Recognition. Even if the show hadn't negatively impacted me personally, I think I'd find it hard to muster anything but resentment for a show that so ably represents the worst impulses and tendencies of an industry hell bent on smothering and flattening itself.
Feel free to ignore those this one but is this a story that you can tell her then (or want to).
Oh I've alluded to it, but maybe never said outright, but enough time has passed that it's probably in the clear
My very first professional writing gig was on a Showtime show, back when Halo was still at Showtime. It was a high-fantasy action show, a prequel to a popular "series" (being generous with that term, honestly) of novels. Lin-Manuel Miranda was writing original songs for it, even demoed one. There were jokes and queer folks and the writers room was diverse as hell and filled with brilliant people (but also me, so let's not give them too much credit on that count). We had a full season scripted, ten episodes, we were ready to go.
But Showtime was bleeding money on Halo, and they had nothing to show for it. And they started axing shows in development left and right, putting more and more eggs in their Halo basket. And then they didn't even make Halo, it went to fuckin' Paramount. All those years, all those dead shows, for something they didn't even end up making. Because Brand Recognition.
Oh man, if that’s what I’m thinking of that’s a dam shame, but also if the book series is anything to go by it would be surprising to see it finished.
Everything I know about moon knight comes from lurking in the marvel threads on this forum, and I'm enjoying the show so far. Oscar Isaac is putting on a Performance.
I'm also loving Winning Time. However, to be fair, I could watch this cast just stand awkwardly around in silence and I would still be entertained.
I'm an idiot but i am curious about what series Pooro referenced if anyone wants to toss a PM

On Picard this week, I was positive Julian Bashir was making an appearance for like 2 seconds until I realized it was an all together different, but also great, guest star.
minor incident on
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
I don't like those books, but I think a tv adaptation could have fixed most of my problems with it and mid level fantasy novels succeeding on tv would have led to more series I'd be more interested in watching than Halo.
Cause when playing Halo I'm always thinking "shut up and let me shoot stuff."

Very very common mistake, especially when the (mini) series premiered back in 2004.
And yes, we have proof they're not the same person:
I was looking forward to the show in question, but it would have run smack dab into the "last few seasons of Game of Thrones" issue where the show would have had to invent the rest of the story. Perhaps that show would have done a much better job of that, though, who knows.
Basically I was hoping for 80s-90s Moon Knight that I'm familiar with, and we're getting 2010s on Moon Knight I never cared for. The one cool part I do like from that, they made into a big joke.
My early comics all came at wildly random intervals, usually after I'd been very brave at the doctor's office. Therefore, the only experience I've had with Moon Knight was a Spider-Man comic I picked up in a drug store whose first page was this:
So I have no goddamn idea who Moon Knight is. Hell, after reading that comic, I had serious doubts that I knew who Spider-Man was. Does the television Moon Knight still have nunchucks? Those were pretty cool.

It was a prequel with a fully planned arc specifically to avoid that very problem
It's been kinda hilarious watching this season of top chef because one of the contestants has long covid and no real sense of taste and he's killing it.
That's a page from Round Robin: The Sidekick's Revenge which was one of my favorite Spider-Man arcs back on the day. So yeah that's the Moon Knight I remember.

It seemed super rad! I hadn't read any of the issues leading up to it and I think Todd McFarlane spooked things up not long after, but it was a real good read anyway. Certainly sparked a lot of narrative ideas in my young brain.

I also didn't know but I googled "showtime fantasy novel lin manuel miranda, cancelled" and I got the answer in the very first result.
Unless there was another Showtime high fantasy novel adaptation involving Lin Manuel Miranda that got cut short in pre-production...

Ally McBeal update:
Tonight AJ & I decided to do a double feature and finish out the second season.
The first episode featured:
-- Ally almost succumbs to a psychotic break as the childhood memories of her parents screaming at each other and her mother committing adultery are resurfaced during a court-case regarding possible fraud via a passionless marriage.
-- Billy receives a black-eye when a noon-time sex-session with his wife in an office bathroom stall is mechanically disrupted by his coworkers, resulting in an accidently/injurious dismount.
-- Richard finally talks Ling into having sex with him. The night of the big event she presents him with a medical waiver and an NDA, which kills his libido. To counter-act this, Richard gets a prescription for Viagra and at the end of the episode is pharmaceutically empowered to survive Ling's sexual prowess.
The second episode featured:
-- In a depressed state due to excess loneliness, Ally begins to be haunted by the spectre of Al Green.
-- Ally and Renee (her best friend/roommate) go on a truly terrible string of speed-dating. A sad montage featuring Michael Badalucco from The Practice (playing his character from that show) complaining about feminism. Whoooof....
-- To help Ally out, Ling just collects a gaggle of hunks on a walk around town and brings them back to the office for Ally, which she rejects entirely. Mass rejection of a platoon of hunks! Ally, you suck!!
And that concludes the second season of Ally McBeal! Very excited to begin the third season on Monday!
Between his nunchucks and his ultimate attack, Moon Knight was extremely overpowered in the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Though I think he might have been exclusive to certain consoles?

The final issue had an awesome gatefold cover too.

also Ethan Hawke as an oddly charismatic, a little scary, guy
between Moon Knight and The Good Lord Bird, I am prepared to state that he is pretty good at it.
The Good Lord Bird is so good that I'm retroactively mad that it didn't get more awards or press coverage. Ethan Hawke's rendition of John Brown was so utterly captivating that it felt like I was having an out of body experience the entire time I was watching it; it wasn't me watching The Good Lord Bird, but rather I was watching myself watch The Good Lord Bird. And by all that is holy, it was fucking excellent.
Stellar limited series from top to bottom, 10/10, comes with my full recommendation. Absolutely do not sleep on Ethan Hawke screaming about murderous slaver rapist scum ruining the heart and soul of America. I promise you will not regret watching it.

So, obviously first seasons are typically low points for Trek shows. This one has not been particularly enjoyable 4 or 5 episodes in. With DS9 I wanted to keep going back to binge it, but now with Votager I just kinda feel like… “maybe I’ll watch another one to see if I start giving a shit?”
I mean, at least they almost always get better, right?

Like I said.
Rom is simple.
Not stupid.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Someone I know went through the same thing a few months back, and someone else made them a list of good or at least watchable episodes. EDIT: And here it is! Note that they'd already struggled through S1, so it has no episodes from that in it.

nothing will ever quite beat the stupidity of the VOY episode where
Traveling too fast turns you into a lizard, and Janeway ends up laying eggs as a lizard.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I think Voyager would be improved by splitting all of Tom Paris’s plots between Harry and B’Elanna and eliminating Tom entirely. He’s the token white guy in the cast and almost entirely sucks.

The perceived break-out character that the writers push too hard? Nah, that's Nelix.
