Evil is good cause you get the catharsis of revelation and resolution, but then it gives you one last proper horror twist of the knife "or is it!?!" in the way that such stories should.

Barry is a tour de force
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I started watching Barry and really liked it. I was like oh, this guy in a really dark place in his life is finally gonna have some fun becoming an actor. I thought it'd be like Get Shorty where he used his mob skills in kinda funny low stakes ways to become a producer.
Barry on the other hand is like... "well you thought Barry was in a dark place BEFORE he became actor, but just wait till you see what we do to him NOW"

A Red Dead Redemption prestige TV series could get greenlit today, but I don't want that to happen for a variety of different reasons.
(The biggest reason being I don't trust 99% of TV writers not to cobble together some absolutely dogshit tropey dreck in the vein of Westworld with an uncritical eye towards Westerns as a genre)

It's why I initially bounced off Harley Quinn. The pilot episode was basically wall to wall with "WE ARE R RATED! WE ARE R RATED! MORE SWEARS THAN A MIDDLE SCHOOL LOCKER ROOM!"
Fortunately, I gave it another dchance and was rewarded for it. The subsequent episodes are much less edgey and more naturalistic, and use the adult moniker appropriately, to explore ideas and concepts that would normally be censored heavily (or removed) from standard, all ages fair.
This isn't exactly hopeful for the Velma series, but maybe they can realize they can just make it be 'adult' by having it be about fuckin murder mysteries
