    The article that's promoting: https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/cryptos-steep-decline-investors-worried-celebrity-boosters-say-rcna28544
That really goes for the jugular in a way I am surprised to see from a major news outlet like that.
In a flashy advertising campaign for Crypto.com, Hollywood star Matt Damon told potential cryptocurrency investors that “fortune favors the brave.”

But after the price of bitcoin plunged this week, erasing more than $200 billion in wealth in just 24 hours, Damon and nine other high-profile celebrities who have publicly endorsed digital currencies evidently were not brave enough to comment on the apparent market crash.

    This is the opening paragraph.

So I have just one question. Was "Fortune Favors the Bold" copyrighted at some point or what? Don't make slight changes to famous phrases.

Fortune Favors the Bold/Brave/Strong are all different translations of similar Latin proverbs. Audentes Fortuna iuvat (Bold) shows up in Virgil, fortes fortuna iuvat (Brave/Strong) were Pliny the Elder's last words, and I guess fortes Fortuna adiuvat (also Brave/Strong) shows up in some Roman-African comedian's work that got parodied by Ovid. (I'll be honest, I didn't know "Terrence" was a Roman name.)

So apparently a bunch of Youtube people had boxing matches last night.

My main takeaway is that Nathan Barnatt is actually pretty decent at boxing.

I debated getting a screening to that, but really the Arin/Harley fight was the only one I was actually interested in watching from the names listed

every single time in that clip that they showed Matt watson's face, it looked like he wanted to/was telling his opponent like "holy shit dude, are you actually taking this serious? Were we supposed to take this seriously? I thought we were doing this all for a fun joke"

Does anyone remember the video where a (I think Scottish?) guy is watching a video of this guy showing how wearing a dress makes him look better, and he tries it himself and it cuts to him looking in the mirror and he's like "what the FUCK this was supposed to be a joke because I thought I'd look like shit but I'm HOT"? If so, does anyone have the link?

The matches in those Creator Clash fights were hilariously lopsided for the most part, I get it's difficult to find similar weights and heights tho. I'm honestly just gassed up Micheal Reeves won his.

Reminds me of the amateur boxing night I had while I was a camp counselor.

So one of the other counselors bought boxing gloves from Walmart during one of the breaks. He keeps trying to get people to box, but no takers. Fast forward a bit, and there is one spot left on a particular camping outing for a counselor. I try to sign up but am delayed and the spot is taken. I spot -let's call him Jason- who had signed up for the last spot. He refuses to give it up. I offer to rock paper scissors him for it, he refuses. I think bring up the boxing gloves the other counselor had bought, and offer to box him for it. He couldn't accept faster.

A little backstory there: I am not a boxer, at all. I am 120 lbs at the time, soaking wet, and six foot one inches tall. But my grandfather was a boxer, so it's in my blood, and I played a lot of boxing games and was obsessed with the sport without having watched it, like the nerd I am. My opponent is about...5'8"? Ish? And 250 lbs, not muscular. If you know anything about boxing then the whole weight class thing would give you a start. I would be a super bantamweight, which is below featherweight. He would be....super heavyweight.

But he apparently knew not one ioata about boxing.

So we put the campers to bed, and the counselors who aren't in the cabins meet up in the mess hall for some Mortal Kombat. At the start everyone is around the makeshift 'ring' we set up on the carpet. i.e. we did absolutely nothing to set it up. People are evenly divided between my corner and his. We touch gloves and go to round one.

Immediately I take advantage of my six-ish inch advantage and lay on jabs with my right while stepping backwards. I've since realized that I wasn't planting my feet and twisting to give enough torque to my punches, so I'm hitting him with limp noodles. But it's an onslaught of noodles, a God damned spaghetti of shots thrown at his ripe noggin. And he has decided to employ the novel strategy of: Walking Straight Forward With His Guard Down. He throws a punch, I block and counter hit. He throws a punch, I step back. He has zero clean hits in round one and is struggling to even cop a feel of my lithe torso at this point. Bell rings, round one over.

Immediately everyone rushes to his corner to offer advice. Namely, put your guard up. Everyone is in his corner, and the only one in mine is the guy who bought the gloves who is giving me water. I complain about the lack of support and we go on to round two. More of the same, except now he has his guard up protecting his noggin so I try to go around it to little success. I am still landing blows to his none, but the flurry of fettuccine is not making a dent.

Round 3 he finally lands a blow as I am hopping from one foot to the next, I slip. It's a down, and I'm immediately back up. But it's a down, not a slip. Fight ends and the 'referees' decide to call it a draw. Because while I landed infinite more blows on him, he got one down.

So we settled it with rock paper scissors.

See now I don't even know what a clove is.

I know what a clove is in a bottle, but I'll be damned if I know what it looks like on a plant. Is it a seed? Some kind of bark? A dried berry? I don't know, and at this point on Sunday afternoon I refuse to find out.

Most of the new vegetables I've tried since becoming an adult have been from getting a farmshare a ways back and just being like welp don't know what this is but I bet it tastes alright after baking for a bit with some salt. Mostly correct!
