Apropos of nothing, I see a new version of Progress Quest has been released. The Twentieth Anniversary Platinum Edition of Progress Quest will do all of your grinding for you. This wonderful piece of productivity software has a solid track record as its autoquesting feature has been available since 2002, when WoW was still to be released, and mobile gaming was limited to playing snake on a tiny, green-tinted black and white LCD display.

Imagine the numbers you'd have if you played (er, didn't play) Progress Quest this whole time! They'd be such big numbers!

All I know about Ni No Kuni is that when you interact with almost any NPC a dumb loud flying bat does all the talking and he's obnoxious as fuck.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Quite the comic for people promoting Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

Jerry has always been much more into the idle games than Mike. Hence Tycho and Gabe having different opinions.

I looked at that a bit and felt very meh. I'd rather have Crusaders of the Lost Idols back.

I looked this game up and holy shit, how does a wholesome series like Ni No Kuni get mixed up in some shady crypto nonsense like this?

What's next Level 5? A Professor Layton where hints are exchanged for bitcoins?

WHAT? I thought the microtransactions part was just them taking the comic a step beyond. And now you're telling me that it's not just that but cryto as well? Dear god.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds employs a gameplay-based blockchain system, giving players who enjoy Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds the opportunity to play to earn tokens through gameplay.

Players can acquire two types of tokens in the Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds blockchain system, and our team will do our best to preserve the token values.

This game is indistinguishable from parody.

The greatest thing Progress Quest ever did is have the random quest generator give us the task "You must placate the Porn Elementals."

I am enjoying the game. I assume you can avoid the crypto and NFTs.
I am sure there will be something to buy to make gameplay easier, like in Neverwinter.
I assume you can't autopilot the whole game.
There has to be some kind of micro transaction hook.

The annoying thing about Ni No Kuni is that you can never select the gender of your character.
You are forced to play what they give you. Now, it is kind of like the Diablo games.

That's a lot of assumptions and "I am sures" about fucking NetMarble not being utterly evil.

From what I understand, you don't actually buy the crypto, you get it from playing.
That sounds really flakey to me.

Ask yourself one simple thing: how will a company make money on an online game with servers if they don't charge any ongoing fees? And then ask, why did they add an extreme amount of crypto and two different type of in-game crypto tokens that use an external crypto wallet?

I mean usually gacha games just exploit people's gambling addictions and make plenty enough cash. Adding NFT to the mix seems like a comic book villain who kicks both puppies and orphans.
