Haven't really watched WWE in years, but was somehow able to watch this straight through (with some cutaways for non-match action and to catch up on why the heck Sami Zayn is in The Bloodline) and god damn. . .they really needed to have axed the old man way years ago. Sucks that he couldn't have gracefully gone out instead of being a sex pest, but the product is clearly better without him.
. . .also Ronda Rousey is REALLY committed to this gig isn't she? Like I felt she was committed her first run, but I felt she was going to play the "Lesnar" game and be allowed to do so, but she's a straight up worker. Is this also an effect of the old man getting 86'd?
I honestly amazed that they not only fell into the best storyline they done by luck but they're actually capitalizing in it.
The Sami stuff is so good and has so many possibilities.
It stinks because this is the kind of stuff I would have started watching the product again for, and now it seems I've caught the end of this "act." Definitely incentive to actually tune into the show going forward though. What I like about what I've caught up on, is that, while this is still Roman's show, the thrust of this storyline is clearly between Sami and Jey and their issues. . .and it didn't have a hacky ending.
Regarding the Bloodline: the next act or a future one has to be leading to The Rock right? I mean they clearly don't need to fire that bullet, but there's really no place where this train doesn't lead.
I know people were disappointed Sami and KO didn't go over to AEW, but I do find it hard to imagine a much better use of their talents than what they're doing right now.

Sure, it's easy to say that now, but at the time...?

Wrestlemania is what they are aiming for but there is alot of red tape to get through to book him

i'm deeply autistic and mildly faceblind and even i could read the emotion on sami's face and how much it meant to him that heyman was saying those things
In good news between both Tag League's House of Torture is 0-7
Hopefully its setting up to their dissolution so Sho can can be cool again.

Hey here is the standout member of a great tag team ok let’s turn him heel and put him with Evil, Duke Togo and Yujiro that’ll help push him to the next level!

No I think she just genuinely enjoys this. It probably helps that she gets to hang around with one of her long-time friends (and when Shayna eventually and inevitably turns on Ronda it might be epic) but she just fell right into the Kurt Angle mold.
Still an utterly garbage human being but, well, that's true of at least 40% of the roster.
Unfortunately, on top of being a bad person, she's also pretty bad at pro wrestling

Her match with Shotzi really exposed how good Ronda is when she's not in there with a veteran ring general and they haven't spent months doing practice drills for every single spot.
I understand that they've probably been angling for Owens/Zayn to get the tag belts off of the Usos (those two NEED a tag title run at some point, and this really does fit as an angle) and have Roman continue to hold the two titles he has for a while until...I dunno, I guess Cody wins them off of them, but I have to imagine someone at WWE has at least floated the possibility of them having Sami be the one to get those belts. The set up for him to be one of the biggest faces they've ever had is right there.
I won't be upset if they just give him and Owens the tag titles, because that's also rad, and I'm sure they've got their eyes on that big match with the Rock, but uh...I'd imagine they'd want to be careful of a scenario where, like...Rey Mysterio gets booed because he's not Daniel Bryan
Honestly, I think Cody's the only one dumb enough to want to follow Roman's run. Anyone who takes those titles off of him is going to have what is comparatively an incredibly lackluster reign.

Sami could very easily be a transitional champ and that's okay. It's kind of what happened to him in NXT and that didn't make his title win/chase less awesome

I mean, wasn't Dusty Rhodes famously world champion for like a total of a couple of months in his career? It was always about the chase for him, and that's what made it captivating for fans.

Similarly, in his books Mick Foley joked about being a transitional champion and more seriously noted that he was entirely content with that, as he was not the leading man/top guy sort.
The thing that I don't like about heel champs is that it usually leads to few main events ending clean. Like, I haven't watched that much WWE, but it seems like whenever I do, Roman ends up winning based on shenanigans, and that just gets annoying and tiresome.
I do like the heel champions that dominate and win clean (or at least without outside interference), it's just rare and so usually there are just a bunch of crap finishes.

I feel like the whole "heel champion draws based on people wanting to see him lose, face should always be chasing the title" thing is just lazy tropes from people who are bad at writing good and likeable people because historically most wrestling promoters have been vile assholes.

I mean I'm pretty sure Hangman is a good and likeable and relatable person and yet his reign was a snoozefest.

But that was bad booking it could have worked. Having a heatless feud with Adam Cole for a month right after the amazing Daniel Bryan matches didn't help the reign.

That's fair, that was a bad example, then.
I just think that babyface champs are hard to root for at a certain point, because I just don't want to see another Hogan or Cena again in my lifetime.
I love babyface champions! There's nothing else in wrestling like seeing a thoroughly loved and respected fighter at the top of the card, especially if they fought their way to it on a long journey with the support of the crowd. And there have been some fantastic ones in the past several years alone.
The problem is, a lot of the people in charge of writing stories for the champions don't know or care to figure out how to handle them when they good guy is finally at the top. There's a long-standing (and straight up false) belief that an all-around, natural hero is automatically boring. That couldn't be farther from the truth, they can be wonderfully compelling characters. But if a champion is given zero well thought out story to work with the "boring champion, was better in the chase" stink is gonna be all over them.
It's really no different from the "Superman is boring because he's too good and powerful" nonsense that gets repeated ad nauseam, which stems not from the character but from writers who have no idea how to handle him.

This is probably smarter than having 9 matches and like two of them go like seven minutes and could have been on cable.
Sadly it looks like this won't be the case. Triple threat started at 10ish. Men's War Games will last at least 30 min plus introductions.
11:15 might still be in reach but I think 11 is lost.

Two weeks into their reign I'm bored and it's time for them to lose it already.
