iirc in previous years the heavensturn reward has basically always been an animal-themed helmet, so their options this year were actually sort out the viera/hrothgar hat situation or do something entirely different

also I think they might have actually done the rabbit helmet before???

the heavensturn helmets have easily been like, the hardest pieces of seasonal glamour to include in outfits, so i'm certainly not complaining

the specific issue probably more that the usagi helmet is a microtransaction these days

they've gone through all twelve years of helmets since 1.0, basically, so they either had to rerelease the paid one (which they're not doing, I guess - whether or not crossover items are on the store is also a good indicator of whether an event is ever returning btw) or make a new one (they decided to just make an outfit instead, I guess)

I suspect that a loporrit outfit might be in the rewards for their 6.3 tribe quests.

...Or the mogstation, I guess. That seems like something they could make money from.

I already encountered that damn usagi helmet in the Armorer quests and as before I think it was very rude of them to emulate my likeness without my permission.

Oh, I definitely almost did a spit-take when they did the reveal in the Armorer quest.

A random thought regarding Endwalker story stuff:

Whatever happened to the rest of the Telophoroi? When Fandaniel first introduced the concept, I assumed it was made up of like, rogue Ascians who never liked the plans set by the top dogs of the organization, and instead wanted to bring the end times. But the only non-Tempered members of the faction seemed to be Fandaniel himself, and Zenos. Which makes me wonder what happened to the rest of the minor Ascians cut loose by the death of the top three.

I'm pretty sure the Telophoroi was just the name for the splinter faction of Garlean forces that took over the empire. Like "Confederates."

I know bunbois were MUCH more in demand than Hrothgals prior to Endwalker, but it does irk me that after a year, they still haven’t made an appearance.

Yeah they never made an explicit commitment to when, but like, with the way they structure their work cycles, it was never happening during a patch. There just isn't time.

Look, it's a lot harder to figure out how to design hot cat girls when you already have hot cat girls in your game that you have to differentiate them from.

they did viera boys first because there is a lot more of the ff14 fanbase wanting to play bunny boys than (I assume) big beefy cat girls. Femroe and Highlander women are borderline non existent in game and I doubt they are too keen to put a lot of resources into a race that will probably not see very wide adoption compared to viera m.

That said I'd gladly throw viera m away forever to get Hrothgals

I love both Hrothgar and Viera, but unfortunately the lack of Dev production attention is SUPER obvious in cutscenes. Viera particularly have just. No expression. Just nothing going on behind the eyes

Also this feels like an appropriate place to put the discord icons I made for my FC. Learned a lot in the process, it's hard making those things readable at tiny discord emote sizes!!
