The Chronicles of a New Era quests "But I Hardly Noah" and "The Gift of the Archmagus" will no longer be available.
This is a... strange one.
I mean, I know that repeatable quest hasn't been relevant in forever; Ironworks gear can be bought already augmented these days, and you can get Allagan Catalysts and Aether Oil elsewhere fairly simply. Still, it seems a bit strange to take the time to remove the quest after all this time.
I'm sort of assuming that there's something going on with the new quests that make the Noah quests no longer make sense to keep around.

I appreciate it cleans up the icons from the minimap. QOL improvement right there.
Yeah, but the strange thing is it was actually slightly story-relevant, as those are the ones that actually introduce Noah as a character. It wasn't very story-relevant, but it was some amount of world building.
My current guess is that Koh/Noah is important to opening the new Deep Dungeon under the crystal tower, and their story relevance is being rewritten to that part of the story.
Some really nice stuff. The update to the party list that lets you see the buff/debuff timers of the whole party is coming with this patch! Will really help with certain high-difficulty duties; I know I'm going to enjoy having that info for Savage raids. Also, damage is gonna show what type of damage it is with a little icon. Really nice for like, Dark Knights, and deciding whether Addle or Feint is better for a certain hit of damage.
I'm on console so right click targeting doesn't mean much to me. What function is that?
Console targeting defaults to ignoring things like non-quest npcs, minions, etc. when selecting stuff. Right click targeting is similar to the soft targeting d pad cycling, I think.
PC doesn’t do that, it will click anything and everything in existence, including the ten thousand fat chocobo riding folks idling in Limsa. This change should make thins much more navigable for a lot of kbam folks

I appreciate ditching the non consensual cross-gender body highjacking backstory behind the quest
Automatic camera pivot can now be disabled when Legacy Type movement is enabled, allowing for seamless play with the camera at any angle.
holy crap, that's huge, I might actually turn that on. That could be make fights where you need to look outside the arena (83 trial comet phase, I'm looking at you) a lot easier.
waiting for an image gallery of everything being un-genderlocked
seems like at the very least the valentione dress and vest+slacks outfit from a few years back, those have had models for both body shapes in the files for a bit so I was wondering when they'd get around to actually unlocking them.

This seems like it makes targeting filters a little redundant. Or do M&KB folks not use targeting filters? They're pretty essential for me on controller.
Well, shoot. Now I'm going to have to put some effort into my glams/portrait. All of my tanks, healers, and maiming classes have been using default Asphodelos looks. My ranged phys glams are a travesty. Sam, Monk, and Ninja look sharp but generic. Magic DPS has a few looks I'm not ashamed of. I haven't spent any time on portraits outside of day one.
Hopefully there's a Valentione gear trade. I never wear the dress, but I'm all about that vest.

Take a look at the Calamity Salvager or the other NPC next to them for past quest rewards.

Yeah, it's the three differently coloured variant versions of that one Valentine's day set, Little Ladies' Day sets (Songbird/Senechal) from some time back, and the Oktoberfest sets.
if you mean for valentione gear, they don't offer past event stuff there sadly. If you weren't psychic enough to buy both sets of gear from that event and hold on to the set you couldn't wear you'll probably have to buy it from the cash shop.

Yeah auto camera-pivot just sucks in general in all scenarios so I'll be happy to turn it off. I mean I've had it turned off for awhile via plugin but it being official is great too.
Same with the extra waymarks. I'm glad that they're just blatantly looking at what popular plugins do and putting those things in the game, to the point where I actually kind of hope that they're reaching out to some of these creators for ideas and advice. I know that Blizzard has straight up hired mod makers in the past for UI jobs and the like, and it seems like SE can benefit a lot from opening a dialogue with 3rd party plugin creators.
The auto pivot thing is also gonna be great while auto-running + flying. Sometimes while on a long-haul flight across the zone you just want to look in a certain direction and right now you can't, the camera immediately starts to turn away as soon as you let off the thumbstick.

this can be especially annoying sometimes if you're on DPS and your mouse just decides, in the middle of your combo, that it's time to target one of your fellow players, so you're like "Wait what do you mean invalid target? ohhh"

Agree, though technically you actually can if auto-run is enabled

Yeah, I know I'm doing some wishful thinking there. I'm not *against* cash shop glam, but I hate the idea of buying something that I could have gotten for free.
I was psychic enough to hold on to both sets, coincidentally
Honestly, I should have. That event was going on right when they started removing the gender restriction from certain items. I remember being miffed that this new stuff wasn't getting the same treatment, but I also know that the asset pipeline is long.

The weird thing is that they already have the system built for this for most holidays, they just don't utilize it.
A lot of holiday items/glams are done through temporary merchants, and quests don't give the items themselves, but currencies to buy the seasonal items with, and the quests are often repeatable. Halloween did it that way with the clown suit. So it would be an extremely small thing for them to use this exact same system, but add previous years offerings to the NPC. That they don't just kind of shows that they'd rather it be used as a temptation to sell cash shop transactions.
I hate that the aether community decided upon the strategy that is the one with the extremely precise positioning and a decent amount of movement while having to be super precise.

I'm clicking that agree button at osu speed. I love setting my camera at cinematic angles while I run/fly and hate the auto snapping, but also dislike the other camera option. This will be really noticeable for me.
oh, 24 hour maintenance for 6.3 because apparently they're adding 5 more housing wards to each city this patch, 30 plots in each division and subdivision x25 new wards, so another 1500 housing plots per server
e: I misheard about when maintenance starts I think. e2: yeah it's tomorrow night nvm

EU servers have maintenance today I think, NA is tomorrow.
I finally did it. I finished all the Hildebrand quests. My long nightmare is over. (I actually quite liked the Heavensward ones, to be honest. Stormblood was a complete waste of time, though.)
I also leveled Blue Mage from 20-something to 70, got like 90 spells, and beat up enough Gilgameshes to get up to 280 irregular tomestones. And before that I got MCH and MNK to 50 running Cutter's Cry and Darkhold. I guess I should try to prep Warrior before 6.4. Hard to believe that's my last remaining class that starts below 50.
PVP track progress is not going to happen. I only got as far as the minions. I don't know why I'd need another dragon mount when I have my good friend Ehll Tou anyway.
Goals today are to fill up my tomestones doing hunts and, perhaps more importantly, freeing up, like, any inventory space. I'm going to have a lot of crafting and gathering to do.
The pvp battlepass mount is luckily pretty forgettable this time IMO, just the midgardsormr mount but reskinned to a generic fire dragon. I ground it out anyway out of FOMO but I know I'm never gonna use it.

the one thing it's good for is scaring the shit out of people in Eureka Pagos and Pyros because they look exactly like Void Dragons. I actually slightly regret NOT getting it for that reason. But only slightly.
I slacked this Moogle Tombstone event and the PvP season. 100 tomestones for the Karakul mount and the emote that drops from Eureka, cause I'm never going to finish that place. Only made it up to the team spirit emote on the PvP track.
I also put 88 hours into Midnight Suns and polished off my 100% completion run (and all the trophies) in Elden Ring, so maybe "slacked" isn't the right word.
Probably gonna burn through the patch connect prior to the weekend and then see if I want to try my hand at the EX trial after skipping the last two. Maybe I should give XIV Recruit a shot, see if I can find a semi casual static to do the next level of content with. I know I can find groups in PF, but I'm not a fan of the process/what one and done groups feel like they can act like and say. I've been lucky enough not to witness anything too vile, but I've run into a few garden variety buttheads.
I didn't go out of my way to grind but ended up with over 150 tomestones. All I really wanted was the Falcon, but then it ended up looking totally stupid. I picked up the fist pump (emotes are always good) and the Albino Karakul mount, which I ended up absolutely loving.
I'm just glad it's over. I'm tired of fighting Gilgamesh for EVERY trial roulette.
