I saw a DVD of Born on the Fourth of July and wondered is Oliver Stone making movies? Yep, he has a documentary coming out next week about the vital importance of nuclear power to stop climate change. Pretty bold of him to make a documentary considering his whole thing
Lucas is a genius, just not necessarily a creative genius. But he knew how to market, and basically created the modern toy/collectible industry.
Ah, so HE'S gonna be the recipient of this silver bullet into which I've painstakingly etched the words, "Made Funko Pops Happen"
Hey Will, quick question for you
Why are you assuming that the person that made Funko Pops happen is a werewolf?
That's more of a "just in case"
Like how embarrassing if I went to all that trouble of etching it into a regular bullet and then it just sinks into their skin and they spit it out and laugh at me
How humiliating, better to cover all bases just in case
I assume the bullet is also filled with dead man's blood, dipped in holy water, and blessed by some monk who hasn't spoken a word in 60 years. If you're only gonna get one shot, you gotta account for everything.
With a wooden center in case of vampires. Hell, say it's wood from the Cross for extra certainty.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

That Hellraiser announcement made me realize I need to make my 31 horror movies in October list.
My list is always 31 movies I’ve never seen so this is going to be tough

Caught See How They Run last night.
Yeah, I can't say I'm going back to it any time soon. There's just nothing really there that's a draw? The occasional chuckle and a good amount of going through the motions and some tangents that feel added to pad running time. And I'm not certain if the inclusion of Saoirse Ronan made creators go "Let's Make This Look/Feel Like Wes Anderson!" but the amount of centered camera angles with her involved are something you start noticing long before the next one comes up.
The one exception where I was pretty happy was
unhinged, murder-happy Agatha Christie
in which Shirley Henderson demonstrated more fun in the last 15 minutes than anyone else seemed to be displaying.

Agree with this pretty much
It was very much the platonic ideal of "okay". I recommend seeing it on a discounted matinee or something but yeah. Sam Rockwell wasn't even allowed to be Sam Rockwell for crying out loud, what a waste. Saoirse Ronan stole the show though.
Here's my tentative list for October. A few short of 31 as I like to save a few spots for movies I randomly stumble across. Also in years past I've bumped movies from the list altogether in favor of others. Basically this is more of a guide than anything else.

Oh yeah, I will change that list a few times. Probably be a few I can’t find streaming and I’ll think of a few I want to add. The list is fluid
I think another thing that is helpful when doing a movie a day style challenge is to open yourself up to seeing movies you've seen before, but haven't watched in awhile. For my 52 movie challenge, I allowed myself to rewatch a movie I had seen before, but haven't seen in a year, and honestly that was the most fun thing about it. I learned a lot about how my opinions and tastes have changed through time by how the movie affected me.

Blood Fart Lake is as low budget a movie as I’ve ever seen.

given how her character worked in this movie, yes, yes she would
last time I wanted to watch ORPHAN: FIRST KILL the only option I had was to buy a digital copy for 20 bucks and like, no I don't want it that badly.
is it streaming anywhere else now, even for a rental?
Could always check local libraries, very unappreciated resource. Mine always gets Criterions, even the foreign ones.
The library is great. Mine is on an interconnected system so i can borrow things from all over the state.
Mine goes all over the country. Once I requested Haxan, and I swear that copy came from Europe.
It's wild what you can get through ILL. One time a student requested something like the campaign journals of Ulysses S. Grant for a school project, and some out-of-state university library mailed us this three-volume set of 125-year-old books that only existed in like three libraries anywhere.
Are you sure? He's a nice kid, but he's like twelve years old and he once returned a DVD of Paw Patrol just completely covered in grape jelly, I don't know what your archival expectations are here.

It’s on Paramount+
Or
Peacock
I get those 2 confused all of the time

It's been streaming on Paramount+ for a while.
It's still a $19.99 purchase otherwise, it's still playing in theaters and probably won't be a rental until that's done.

You can jump right in but if you want to watch the original you have to watch it first or First Kill ruins it.
I recommend watching the original but YMMV. Personally I love it

I think you'd want to go Orphan first, unless you already know the tweest
Watching First Kill will spoil a big part of the first one, so if you think you might watch it you should just go in order.
You don't need to watch the original though, you'll understand things fine if you go straight to First Kill.
Nobody said this but First Kill spoils the original Orphan

Hmm, no, that doesn't seem right
You intentionally convinced a friend to watch Funny Games
