i do honestly find the try guys thing completely baffling. I agree that they needed to fire him immediately, because of the obvious power dynamic at play and like, what might have happened. I have not seen anything publicly from the woman that said it was anything other than consensual and she didn't feel pressured, but that doesn't really matter as far as what should have happened with the company.
but everyone rending their clothes in agony and their tearful video on the couch seems so over the top ridiculous. That video in particular seemed so staged and melodramatic. the dude had an affair, holy shit.
if it comes out that she felt pressured or forced with unwanted attention/physical contact, that's something else entirely. But good lord. he's not your friend, his wife isn't your friend, you don't know any internal aspects of their marriage, actually, you don't know them.

I mean, just look at West Elm Caleb and the lengths the internet went to pillory him, and that was a complete stranger with zero online media presence.
Man, I grew up on Veggie Tales and that shit was like, legitimately hilarious. The Bible stuff always kind of felt like a weird tacked on part that was almost secondary to the funny joking vegetables.
I'm kinda glad to see at least one part of my Christian upbringing wasn't actually entirely fucked.

Video seemed fine to me. Wasn't very long, let their fans know what had happened and that it was dealt with and it's a big change and they're moving on.
I mean, Giantbomb put out a pretty big thing (that video that Dan was coming back) with Jeff leaving, it's kinda similar.
They have a podcast and on there they mentioned knowing basically since labor day weekend and had gone through a lot of HR/PR/Attorneys to make it as clean a break as possible.
it's always kind of surprising these days when you hear about a more normal christian person being cool amidst the cacophony of fundamentalist cultists spewing vileness

I always felt kind of weird about the evangelicalism with veggie tales, especially the more meme-y stuff. Seeing the creator talking about nuance actually makes me feel.. much better about the show?

Part of why VT worked at all was it wasn't afraid to make some jokes about how religion can be silly sometimes, it's more about the vibe than following every word to the letter. I never felt like the Christian angle got in the way of whatever message they wanted to say that week, it was often "just be cool, man."

Pretty shitty of SNL though.
