La Mulana bundle? That'll sell some Switches. (Because it will cause you to throw your existing Switch)
I have watched some of that first game. Like, legit, some of the most obtuse puzzles and an absurd amount of instances where the game flat out deliberately tries to screw you over. I guess some people like that but ehhhh... Good music tho.
I aught to watch someone beat that game at some point. I think the streamer I was watching gave up entirely. I'd like to know how you're actually meant to progress beyond where he got.
Bought as a gift for a soon-to-be birthday girl and gave in advance yesterday to much excitement! Happened to find a Mario Kart themed birthday card to go with it too.
oh wow do I miss Brain Age. I'm strongly tempted to dig out the DS and restart. Reluctant because it's basically a Schrodinger's Battery situation though, I don't want to collapse the wave form
Haven't touched my Switch in over a year but with TotK release I went and got a voucher.
Now for the 2nd game. Metroid Dread or go for Pikmin 4?
Dread seems to have reviewed well. Not sure what other big games might be coming in the near future
Dread is fantastic, but just a heads-up, compared to previous Metroids, this one has some stressful quick movement situations and more quick twitch counterattack moments, which I know turned some off
Personally I enjoyed it, really drove home the Dread title

They had 30+ people waiting to buy Zelda this morning at work
It was chill af for me. Like, six or seven people, plenty of copies. There was that classic feel though, of awkward nerds kind of being there for the same thing, so there is that weird bond-y energy, but everybody's half-smiling, making and breaking eye contact all the time and shit
The Collector's Edition of Tears of the Kingdom is somehow still up at Amazon.

I'd wager Nintendo produced a shitload and the initial pre-order sell out was not indicative of the actual available inventory, much like with the Skyward Sword joycons and amiibo which were everywhere a few days after the release. I mean, you can walk into any major retailer near me and just grab one of the Tears OLEDs in spite of shitbags on eBay trying to screw you over for $700.
Good. I hope the scalpers have to sell at MSRP or, even better, a loss.
I was looking over my shelf of games, and I have quite a few GBA/DS/3DS games mostly being unplayed. I thought this might be a good time to pick up a portable game system for my daughter, so she can have something that's hers and a large library of games to play in the car or whatever.
I though I could start her with a GBA, but I don't have as many game options available for her. I have lots of 3DS/DS titles though. So, my best option would be to get her a 3DS since it can play both game types. Any thoughts on where I could get a 3DS on the cheap? Or is it the usual suspects of Ebay and Amazon?

I would check out Offer Up and Mercari as well as far as buying from other people. The latter is where I got my Wii U GamePad and the previously posted DSi, case, and games bundle from, so it has been rather dependable for sure!
App versions of both of them too. Marketplace can be decent as well sometimes, but being off FaceBook I just tend not to use it.

The cheapest and most durable 3DS was the older “doorstop” 2DS for a long time. No hinge to fail. At one point refurbs could be found for $40, although it looks like most listings under $100 on eBay are “for parts” now.
3DS in particular has gotten outrageous on the 2nd hand market in the last few years. All retro gaming has but 3DS seems to have been especially bad.
Closure of the eShop and the ease of installing custom firmware really shot demand way up too.
I was looking to get a new 3DS a couple years ago since my current one has been having some fairly minor issues and was a bit shocked at not only how hard it was to find a new or refurbished model but also how expensive used ones were going for.

I'm actually really glad I lacked the willpower to resist getting a new 3DS every time they came out with a new model. It's a minor worry I have that my 3DS will fail and it will be too expensive for me to justify replacing it, but I would be even more worried if my 3DS had the years and milage it would've had if I was still playing my original model from 2011.
I really should check my 3ds' to see how they are. I do need a way to put them away.
Another thing I really need to find the charge cord for the psp and I have no idea what it looks like anymore
I haven't used my 3DS in years, and I had to turn it on a while back to check something. And my eyes hissed and recoiled away, "the resssolution, it burrrnssss!".
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
I think I need to order a round of batteries for all of my older portables at this point. They're all looking very Lithium'd nowadays.

I could swear I saw replacement 3DS batteries up on the Nintendo store just a few days ago so they must still have some/be producing them. I wasn't fast enough to grab a few.

Dover's post made me realize I forgot to order some 3DS batteries and went to look as well. Bummed they sold out while I forgot, but hopefully this means they're still making them (or finding them).

assuming they haven't changed parts, the switch pro controller uses the same battery to my knowledge. so they should still be procurable. this was at least true back when the switch came out so no idea about now.
Also 3rd party batteries are very easy to find and there is a 99% chance the quality will be fine..at this point every DS I own has a 3rd party batter, as does my GBASP. My New 3DSXL is still on the OEM battery since that one is still going strong.

How's the durability of the screen printing on the special edition pro controllers? I've had my Monster Hunter one since Rise came out and I've always been worried that my sweaty mitts would rub it off.

Oof, the performance of TOTK on my 2017 switch can be rough at times. Even with the day zero patch, trying to build anything in Hateno village, then picking it up and swinging the camera around can bring the game down to a single digit frame rate.
I'm about to come to the end of my new work schedule at a new gig which is working three 12 hour shifts that go overnight starting on Thursday night and wrapping up on Sunday morning. Have not played any of TotK yet as I haven't had the time to really get into it since release, but the next four days off I'm going to probably swap time spent working with time spent playing Zelda.

I don't know if it's an option (or even a good use given the price), but for my money Metroid Prime Remastered is a better Metroid game than Dread in every conceivable measure.
Which isn't to say I didn't like Dread, I did (though I liked Samus Returns better, as a more "modern" 2D Metroid)!
Even for a game I've played through many times over the years, Prime is just up there with Galaxy, BotW, etc as the best of their IP, for me.
It's really, really good, and all the little fine tunings, graphical updates, performance, and controls just makes the Switch version one of the best games on the console, despite it being like 22 years old.

Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp has my recommendation as well if you like strategy games.
